Miles took a few minutes to make his excuses from the bar and headed back to his office. He was putting up the usual privacy charms, but his mouth dropped when he saw the man drinking from his private store.
He stood dead in his tracks as he recognised the intonation in the voice, and was left with absolutely no doubt who this was after the mention of his father-in-law. "Sir," he said with a deferential nod. "I did not think you would need to come here. I was planning on visiting, but none of your informants have been today." He was left rather speechless.
Moving over to the decanter, he poured his own drink. "What can I do for you this evening, sir?" He prayed that he was going to stop this message drop business, as he didn't need the added stress.
