Linda listened while the man talked, filling in the Scawton but not supplying that she wasn't married. It was useless information as she had lived as married for the better part of her life.
She did smile when he mentioned her garden, something she was very proud of. A light blush crept up on her cheek and she let go of the door slightly, becoming more visible to the man. Still, Marcus, and especially Cassius, had warned her too many times about strangers for her to let down her guard completely. In fact she was fairly sure Cassius would yell at her for even thinking about joining a contest that would - undoubtedly - include strangers being let into her garden.
'I'm very flattered, Mr McClane, but I'm a very private person and I don't think I would enjoy people coming to inspect my garden for a competition,' she said, not holding back the slight sigh of regret.
