RP: Mother of all secrets Date: 30 May 2006 Characters: Rodolphus Lestrange Location: Greengrass Manor Private/Public: Private Rating: PG Warnings: Scheming Roddy (complete with maniacal laughter) Summary: Nicodemus returns, and Rodolphus learns the most tantalising fact about young Mr Vaisey.
Rodolphus was calmly pleased as he sat in the Greengrass Library. In spite of their new lodgings, there was some interesting and different reading matter to wade through. His calm stemmed from the fact that Rodolphus, Lisa, and dear Fenrir caused a little bit of mischief and mayhem the night before.
Bellatrix was off doing... well, she had glared at him over the breakfast table, and he merely asked after her health, ensuring she took sufficient potions to aid her own health, and that of his heirs.
Blagden Greengrass was in possession of some interesting parchments written in runes, dealing with some interesting history surrounding Stonehenge. It was engaging but at that moment, Nicodemus swept in, landing gracefully on the table, a crumpled letter dropping on the table before him.
"Well done, my pet," he stroked the bird's head, gazing into it's eyes to see that it successfully wrested the letter from the owl, letting the bird continue back to its home without suspicion.
Leaning back in his chair, he looked to the envelope. Unfolding the pages, his eyebrow raised at the first words...
My dear Cassius,
The contents were clearly written by a muggle, that much was obvious, but Rodolphus clenched his fist and sat forward on his chair in triumph as he reached the end of the letter.
This was news. Signing off with Love from your mother, Rodolphus knew they had found something very, very special.
Cass' mother was not Emilia Romagna. He was laughing. Marcus Vaisey was a fool. A fool for siring a child on a muggle woman, but even a bigger fool for trying to pass the boy off as a pureblood. Credit where it was due, this was a very well kept secret.
"Ahh Cassius, if only you had joined our cause, we might have forgiven the accident of your birth." Shaking his head, he pondered this news, a plan already forming.
They could use someone on the inside. The needed someone high up enough, and with the knowledge that he had on Vaisey...
But then as he pondered, he thought that perhaps he needed to provide him with just a little... extra incentive to spy for them.
This... mother. He'd put a tracing spell on Nicodemus, and now, he would need to unravel just where this 'mother' was. Calling again for the raven, he flicked his wand. The details of Nicodemus' recent travels unravelled before his eyes, the bird letting out a satisfied caw when it showed it had been waiting in a yard in the city of Perth.
"And there you are," he said, more to himself as he identified where she was. "I'd like to have a little chat with you, my dear woman. Get to know you a little better.
The plot was unfolding before his eyes. Yes, he wanted to get to know this woman a lot better, and there were plenty of rooms in the dungeons of Lestrange Manor where he could keep her for as long as he needed.
Stalking out of the room, he headed for the study. He had a kidnapping to plan.
