RP: Ernie has another encounter with the voice.
Date: 21 April 2006
Characters: Ernie, mentions of Terry Boot and Ben Boot
Location: His shop, forest
Private/ Public: Private
Rating: PG 13
Warnings: Death of a creature
Summary: The voice inside Ernie’s head forces him to use his magical powers for evil.
Terry’s involvement in the attack on Upper Slaughter was all Ernie had been able to think about. Terry was fine but what about the next time? Ernie knew that the Order would go out of their way to protect their own but that thought did nothing to reassure him.
You need to protect him Ernie. How is Terry going to survive without you? What would Ben do without his father?
Ernie closed up the store with all these thoughts still in his head. He was exhausted but his feet carried him away from the direction of his house and took him to the forest.
You need to practice your charm skills. You have to improve or else Terry and all your other friends will suffer the way your parents did. You don’t want that do you? You don’t want another situation where you are stuck helpless, listening while the people you love die.
When he finally reached the forest he began searching for something to practice on. It took some time but finally he could hear a creature moving toward him. He turned his body in order to face the creature. The Knarl looked at him with curious eyes. Ernie grinned down at it, then flicked his wand. The creature began to float slowly up into the air. It wined out of fear but Ernie continued to lift it up. Finally when it was a his height he let the creature drop back down to the ground. The creature squealed and tried to run away but Ernie didn’t let it escape. Ernie began to use every dueling spell he could remember on it. The creature squealed even louder but no help would come. Finally with one last flick of his wand the creature slammed up against a nearby tree and went completely limp.
Do you feel that power? See what happens when you practice? You get stronger.
Ernie awoke from his daze and was shocked to see the dead animal in front of him. He couldn’t remember killing it but knew it had to have been him. The power of the spells he had just used pulsed through him. This was the kind of power he needed to insure Terry’s safety but how could he use it after what had just happened? He could feel the shame spreading throughout his body forcing him to collapse on to the forest floor.
