Ever since coming out of her coma, Megan had tried to convince herself that her father and brother hadn't been killed. She told herself that her mum was helping with the sick and that they were just staying away. She knew it wasn't true but it was easier to pretend than acknowledge the pain. It wasn't the healthiest of ideas but when your are dealing with the aftermath of sickness it was easiest.
Her mum knew it was finally time to say goodbye. While she was sick, her and Emily had made the decision that due to the illness and the wishes of her father and brother that their bodies would be cremated. It wasn't something Megan had known about and when she was told it upset her a bit. It wasn't the cremation that upset her, just the knowledge that there would be no place for her to go and visit. After the shock wore off, she understood and would have honored their wishes also. Her mum had planned a memorial for just family and very close friends. It was a time for those that were most important to them to say goodbye.
She was glad that Anthony and Kevin had been there with her, there would have been no way she would have made it through the memorial without them. For the longest time her father and brother had been the two most important men in her life and it was hard to say goodbye and let them go. After the memorial, Emily went back to her parents' home and her Mum went to stay at her new home. She had already moved most of her things in there and she said she wanted to be alone.
When they arrived back home, all Megan wanted to do was lay in bed for awhile. Her body felt numb and she was emotionally drained as she headed for the bedroom and stripped down to her bra and knickers and crawled into bed. She needed to be held by the two most important men in her life and to know that she wasn't alone.
