Summary: Finally it's time to bring the fight to the Death Eaters
The flight had taken a long time. They hadn't wanted to risk Apparition too close to the coordinates Stephen had provided. They weren't exact coordinates, of course, because that would have been impossible. They'd Apparated about 100 miles off course, but that was still a long flight in the cold dark and would send Portkeys back for those without brooms, but those couldn't be made until they'd arrived in the right place, which meant flying at break neck speed. And flying under all sorts of concealment and anti-hex charms towards near certain death or dismemberment meant that they were all tired, cold and cranky. Well, Terry was at least. He was not good on a broom in normal circumstances, and even with the anti-nausea potions Oliver had dosed him with, he couldn't look down in fear of suffering severe vertigo and ruining the whole campaign.
Finally though, they reached the right area, and although all that was visible were fields and a bunch of trees, the tingle of Stephen's runes set off the tracking Charm Terry had layered them with. He signalled for everyone to land while they were still far enough away to avoid being detected. They made quick work of creating enough Portkeys for the Aurors and Order members waiting for them, and several people went back to the meeting point outside Hogsmeade. It wasn't long before everyone who was going to be there had arrived, and had taken their places.
He gave the small signal for the fliers take flight again, before taking flight himself. This time it didn't take long to get to the right place, and he signalled again for the aerial fighters to hold back, and made quick work of setting off the charms that would activate the runes. Immediately he felt the first Rune go off, something that would be undetectable on the ground. Soon, a misshapen outline was glowing up at them, roughly showing the perimeter of the town.
Now, all that was left was for the bombs to be dropped. He glanced over and gave the last signal, the one that would start off what might be the best, or worst, idea Stephen had ever had. There was no going back now.
He waited long enough to make sure that the bombs worked, and then Apparated away. He knew he would only be a liability in the actual battle, and could do more from the field hospital, where he could keep busy and stay out of the way of experienced duelists.
