RP: While You Were Sleeping
Date: 2 April 2006 Characters: Seamus Finnigan and Emma Dobbs Location: The Shrieking Shack Private/Public: Private Rating: PG Warnings: - Summary: Seamus visits Emma in the hospital.
Seamus sat down in the chair next to Emma's bed, watching her silently. Every single time he'd come to see her (before he'd landed himself in the hospital, that is), she'd just keep looking worse. The pox marks still covered her body so intensely that there was barely any space between them.
The healers had told him that she was barely alive right now, that somehow her heart was still managing to beat without the aid of magic. It gave him a bit of hope, really. It made him feel that somewhere deep down, she was still hanging on.
He lifted his hand to her hair, letting the silky strands slide over his fingers. He kept his hand away from her head, though, fearful of popping the pox marks on her scalp.
After a moment he cleared his throat.
"So we're reopening the pub on Friday. Bletchley told me to tell you that he hopes you feel better soon and that your job is completely safe. Not that you probably care about your job right now. I'm not sure why, but Bletchley seems to have gotten nicer over the past few weeks. His owls are beginning to show a limited amount of Arsey Darcy-ness, so that's good, I suppose."
He coughed.
"So I think you should probably wake up now. Because while I barely know you, you've got me pretty worried. It seems like all the girls in my life have just...died. I mean, first my mother. Then Lavender. Then Mandy. Then Romy. Then Hannah. Then Sophia. Then Rosie...So it would kind of suck to add you to that list. I'm not sure I could handle putting any more people on that list. So yeah. Please don't make me do that."
He was still playing with her hair as he spoke, watching her for any kind of movement whatsoever, but she was still. Not even an eyelid flutter. He rested his elbow on the bed and then leaned against his hand, sighing after a moment.
"Just so you know, when you wake up, I'm likely to be a little protective of you. Maybe even annoyingly so. So make sure to be prepared for that. Until then, just work on waking up, okay? That's my job for you today. Tomorrow you'll have a different job, but today you need to work on waking up."
He sat there quietly for a while, but finally he stood up, his eyes passing over her entire body.
