Summary: Rodolphus is... amused... by Dolohov's latest ploy.
The virus had certainly done it's job of coursing through his body, and Rodolphus was beginning to think that letting Bellatrix kill Mortimer wasn't enough punishment for the fool man. Perhaps he might raise him from the dead only to kill him again just to satisfy his own desires. He could only hope the man was suffering as much as he was at present. Every day he didn't find a cure was another day Rodolphus had to think why he was keeping the man alive.
Going through the financial records had been a tedious job, and the numbers didn't alleviate his lingering headache. The numbers were starting to swim before his eyes, but it kept his mind from the infernal itching of his skin. Sitting thoughtfully as he planned a more proactive move, he was lost in the mundane task of balancing the books. Things weren't grim, but there were sizeable donations that were no longer coming in, and he planned on ways to rectify the shortfall.
Lost in thought, he didn't hear Bellatrix come into the room until he heard her cackle. He really wasn't well if he was letting his guard slip so greatly to miss something like that.
She seemed amused by whatever was in the letter she was holding in her hand. "And what is so amusing, my dear? Is that a report on how many more have the virus here in Upper Slaughter, or has something else caught your whimsy?"
