Severus snorted. "He manipulated you as much as he did me. The difference was I was an adult, you were a child. You didn't know any different. I could at least argue with him, even if I eventually did as he asked."
He arched an eyebrow, his expression wry. "You and probably many others if they knew. However there is a certain amount of sense to it. I know more than most what you have been through. I will also not mollycoddle you and tell you it is alright when it is not." He paused and his expression became somewhat wistful. "Your mother confided in me. Perhaps you are simply following her example."
"For Merlin's sake," he said with exasperation. "Talk to people. Those friends of yours. Minerva. I am sure any of the many Weasleys would gladly lend an ear. Lupin as well. And none of them would judge you or think you weak or useless if you confided such perfectly normal fears and troubles." He paused and arched an eyebrow. "They would probably be quite pleased to hear such things from you. It would tell them that you are coping as well as possible under the circumstances, that you are indeed willing to trust them and that you are feeling precisely the same things they are feeling."
