RP: It's Not Fair Date: 23 March 2006 Characters: Pansy Parkinson, Harry Potter, Polly Parkinson Location: 212 Cicero Lane, Hogsmeade Private/Public: Private Rating: PG Warnings: none Summary: Pansy gets a belated owl from Justin and is upset by the news.
Pansy had been getting worried about Millicent. She'd sent her birthday greetings days ago and hadn't had a response. But when the unfamiliar owl tapped at the window and she saw what the letter contained, she began to wish she hadn't gotten an answer.
Pansy read through the owl a second time. She felt guilty that she'd made Justin put such news down in writing, but she hadn't known. To hear that Millicent and Ella were both ill was bad enough, but with hearing that Liam was also down with the illness, and Miles, had prepared her, in a way. But that Millicent was in a coma? And had lost her baby?
Pansy put down the parchment, a bleak expression on her face. She needed her daughter. She needed to hug her daughter and remind herself that Polly, at least, was okay.
There was an ache in the back of her throat, and her eyes were burning as she got up from her desk to look for Polly. The house was quiet as she went downstairs, and she turned to the back of the house to look out the windows.
She could see Harry outside, and he was smiling. For once, that didn't make Pansy want to smile, too. Summoning a wrap, she went outside herself. Walking across the terrace and down the steps, she saw Polly happily crawling across the grass towards a tree at her top speed, with Harry grinning down at her. For a moment, Pansy stopped, a sob catching in her throat and she covered her eyes with her hands, overcome with a sudden wave of horror. What if she'd lost one of them?
