| About: | This here is Between Seasons, a periodic ficathon/fest community for those painful months… well, between seasons, whether it's two halves of one season or the college season and the pro season of one sport, or any other prolonged and agonizing breaks. Blanket disclaimer, just in case: The works posted to this community are fictional. They depict fictional versions of real people doing fictional things. This does not mean that we believe the real people are doing these fictional things, or that they should be. In no way is the intent here to defame, slander, or otherwise insult the subjects of the fiction. None of us are making any money off this. Dates and times will vary from fest to fest, but a standard schedule will abide by the Three-P Princple: Month #1- Prompting Month #2- Pondering Month #3- Posting Prompting- on Month #1 1st, your friendly neighborhood mod will create the prompt post, where anyone can leave a prompt. We follow the freeform prompt method used by The All-Star Party- all of the following are perfectly acceptable prompts: a line from a song or poem, a few words, a theme, a fanfiction cliché, a specific kink, or a scene or a plot you'd like to see. You can specify nobody at all, a specific team, a specific player, two specific players, or a group of specific players. You can, if you'd like, specify a time. Pondering- on Month #2 1st, your friendly neighborhood mod will lock the prompt post and create the Master List Of Prompts. While you may, in your heart, have chosen your prompt on the second day of Month #1, you can't claim it until Month #2. Once you do claim it, you have first dibs- sure, someone else can write it, but they can't post until you do. Take as many as you want. If you're in over your head, shoot an e-mail over to your friendly neighborhood mod so she can release the prompt. Posting- on Month #3 1st, your friendly neighborhood mod will lock the Master List Of Prompts, put on a silly hat, and declare this party started. If you got it, post it all through Month #3. The minimum requirement for a piece is 100 words, and the very loose goal is for 500 words per writer (so that 5 100-word drabbles would suffice, whether interconnected or to five different prompts, as would 1 500-word story). No maximum- the more, the better, bay-bee! We're open to het, gen, and femslash; if you're writing gen, and especially if you're writing het, please keep the focus on the ladies. We're open to any rating from G on up to NC-17- post the story itself under a cut, with a heading summat like this: Title: (if it has one) Rating/Content: (MPAA rating system or simple description of the level of language, sex, violence, and mature themes) Prompt: Team/Players: (if your prompt doesn't specify the team, or if it specifies the team but not the dramatis personae) Notes: (optional) Your friendly neighborhood mod may be inclined to award points for obscure teams, trips in the Wayback Machine, rarepairs, or good old-fashioned gen- but like Whose Line Is It Anyway, nobody wins and the points don't matter. Once Month #3 is done, your friendly neighborhood mod will declare this party over, remove the shirt from the fan blade and the pants from the lampshade, shoo all you noisy kids back home, and compile the Master List Of Fics for your reference. All fics will also be tagged by sport, level (pro/college/international), team, and the folks involved, also for your reference. And then? Eventually, we do it all again, maybe with a new sport/set of teams.
