Between Worlds Out of Character Communnity

I am really sorry to make things worse, but what with so many people leaving, some of my characters are left with no more plot so I am dropping two of them.

I am dropping Ginny Weasley and Daphne Greengrass. I am keeping Roxy Weasley for now.

Fuck I hate this shit

Considering all the OOC Drama and accusations of plagiarism, manipulation etc. (whether true or not) coupled with the loss of plot, I find myself pretty wide-eyed and angry. Loss of plot isn't the end of the world. I'm generally pretty good about keeping plot going for my pups...However...I can't seem to get over how horrible some people acted on all sides.

The accusations alone make me want to shy away even further. I know I recently took a hiatus, and what I came back to has really affected my ability to want to write with other people in a game setting. The rate at which things degraded into such eight grade drama is quite disturbing to me. I had no part in and I will continue to have no part in it which is why I am now going to leave the game.

Look, truth of the matter is this: I've had WAY too many games and beloved characters and plots just ripped away because of OOC drama. The he-said/she-said bullshit is dumb and I won't be a part of it. In other games, I've sucked it up and tried to pull through and I won't do it again this time. Sorry guys, I’m done.

And funny enough, each time I’ve wondered to myself how it could have been prevented. And in each instance, it is generally a combination of OOC drama and Character dead weight. My advice: SLOW THE FUCK DOWN. There is no need to have every single character possible cast and in play and each with a plethora of sub-plot right now zomg!! How and why on earth is someone playing 9 or 10 characters in one game, not to mention the several other games with several other characters? If you spread yourself too thin, you lose the meat of plots and character development. Things get missed. Details are missed and toes end up getting stepped on. Writers spreading themselves too thin are a huge problem as are the Cliquish plot bunnies that somehow seem to infest games with their eighth grade bullshit. We’re adults and writers. Not adolescent emo angsty bullies. Grow up, people. Seriously. And yeah, I’m pulling out my punches now. Fuck it – I’m done being nice.

In my experience and opinion, games that grow too fast with too many characters really will hurt kill a game. And I am not saying that the characters can't come into play at a some point...but if the game is to survive, the casting of key characters is paramount and the moderators need to remain diligent to prevent plot suffocation because of an overabundance of character dead weight and writers with too many characters.

All this also assumes the writers understand the exact and distinct nature of collaborative writing, patience, a basic level of adult maturity, responsibility and self esteem, team work and that ultimate goal: to tell a whole story. Yes Whole. Not necessarily good or bad - those are too subjective. Write a WHOLE story - complete - and what I see people failing to realize is that truthfully, I'd rather you write for two really well thought-out, dynamic characters than 15 shells of nothing more than letters forming names with little, to nothing substantial. Rather than explore everything that could be for every character RIGHT NOW ZOMG - thoroughly examine one perspective - you'd be surprised how rewarding it can be.

Hi everyone! I'm Iona and I'll be bringing in Tiberius Snape. Tiberius is the son of Lily and Severus, a second year Hufflepuff, and a metamorphmagus. He's very bubbly and bouncy and will probably love your character until given a reason not to. He likes to spend his time drawing anything with scales, in addition to thinking up ailments that will get him out of Herbology class.

You can catch me on aim at spanish verbs. I'd LOVE LOVE LOVE to plot anything. Tiberius definitely needs some crucial roles in his life filled. Friends, enemies, frenemies. You know, the usual for a Hogwarts student.

Hi! As you guys can tell I came back early from my hiatus because... Apparently BW is the equivalent of crack. I won't be on as often the next couple weeks, but I'll try to be on at least once a day to respond to tags and such.

My computer completely died on me on Friday, and I ended up having to get my whole hard drive replaced :( Anywho, that's why I vanished into oblivion. I FINALLY got my computer back about an hour ago. I have to run off to skating practice, but I'll update and catch up where need be as soon as I get home. I'll also be on tonight and probably every night now that I have time and a working computer. Yay!

Okay, so Joan here with baby number two: Molly Weasley! She's almost 100% canon up to last September when she had a bit of a middle life crisis and left the Burrow to be a voice actress on the radio soap opera "All My Wands". She's still pretending to be a happy housewife for Ron and Ginny, but Bill and the others know all about her little double life right now.

So, I'm still sick (yeah, it came back about two seconds after I declared I was fine- that's hubris for you) but I'd love lines!

Hey guys! It's my hiatus time, unfortunately. Or semi-hiatus. Whatever. Basically it's those couple of weeks when a buttload of papers are due so I have to crack down and focus on school. I'm going to be free to RP on the weekends, but during the week I'll be doing minimal tagging. This week is going to be the worst.

While I'm gone for this week I'm having Jamie coming back from his little teenage hissy fit (he ran away to Angie's but came back in the morning through the passages). He's going to be spending the week in the library, looking like he's studying, and obviously going to his Quidditch practice. All in all, it's going to look like he's behaving.

And just imagine Charity is so busy with work she has been unable to reach out to others.

Hey guys, it's Caitlin! I JUST REALLY NEEDED A STUDENT, OKAY.

So this is Padma Patil, sixth year Ravenclaw. She is the granddaughter of the Indian Minister of Magic, and her mother is the permanent ambassador to England; Padma has been living in England since she was three, though, so treating her like something exotic will just get you an eyeroll.

For the most part, Padma is just a rule-abiding citizen. She tries to lead a logical, reasonable life, which can make her rather irritating, as she insists on seeing all sides of an issue rather than standing blindly by her friends. It's very hard to get her worked up unless you insult her family; she's kind and empathetic, but only to a point. She is very interested in politics and history, and one of her deepest secrets is that she also harbors an interest in the Dark Arts; though she would (likely) never use them against someone, since that would be breaking the law, she is a bit of an apologist for their use. Every spell has some use, after all. Right?

Hello everyone!

Ana here with my third character. This one is my second Weasley, but first time traveler. This girl right here is Roxanne Weasley. Her friends call her Roxy for Roxyfoxy, hence her journal name.  For anyone who needs a refresher, she is the daughter of George Weasley and Angelina Johnson-Weasley.

She is a 5th year and a Hufflepuff!  She has one older brother, Fred Weasley II, who is 17 and a 7th year. I  left his house open to whoever wanted to rp him.

Roxanne loves quidditch like her parents and is a chaser on the Hufflepuff team (Future and AltPresent). So far the Hufflepuff team has two members and both are time travelers, which I find very funny. I would love if the whole team were time travelers, but there are not enough time travelers to accomplish that.  She hates being bored and not being active so besides quidditch, she joined the COMC, Astrology, choir and herbology clubs.

But anyways, even though she loves quidditch she wants to be a magical veterinarian since she LOVESSSSS animals and nature. She would rather be outside all day and night than be in class. So she has even skipped classes on occasion just to go and sit in the quidditch stands or by the lake.

She is outgoing, friendly and can speak her mind.  Her habit of speaking her mind and not fully thinking things out does get her into trouble at times, but she will try to find a way to get herself out of that mess. Roxanne also hates getting into fights/arguments or seeing her friends and family fight so she will be the first one to break up any fight and argument. If she is in one, she will be the first to apologize even if the other person was at fault.

The one person she REALLY REALLY REALLY wants to meet is her 'deceased' Uncle Fred.  She knows who he is and very small tidbits of information from her mother and father, but whenever she asked her father about him he got emotional or grumpy and would never tell her anything.  She wants to see if he is alive here, so I really hope that the Fred applicant gets their app in!  Besides that she idolizes her father and worships the ground he walks on she will be excited to meet him here.  She always saw him as her best friend forever because that is how he acted towards her. They told each other everything, so she will be very much interested in meeting him.

Hey guys, Brianna here with #5. This is Mary MacDonald, and here are her highlights:

- Mary is married to Gideon Prewett, and has been for 18 years. She has two children that we'd LOVE to see in-game, Aiden Fabian Prewett (7th year) and Colleen Mary Prewett (2nd year). SO YOU SHOULD PICK THEM UP!!

- Mary was born in 1960 and a Gryffindor, thus making her a 1978 Gryffindor. She has a very bubbly, loyal personality, so I'm assuming she'd remain close to them throughout the years. Some of her best mates were from Gryffindor, so I'd love to hear your input.

- Mary was an original member of the Order, and can be assumed to have replied to Dumbledore's call for the Order to reform. She's all about it and thinks it's great to be proactive.

- Mary has worked at Mungo's as a General Healer until Colleen was approximately two years old. She was attacked by a Death Eater (much like Ryan just was) and had a miscarriage due to the attack. It took her nearly a year to recover, and when she did, she explored a new career with the DMLE.

- Mary is now the primary Healer for the DMLE, so she approves your characters and all DMLE employees' sound fitness (physically and mentally) for work. She also attends all raids/investigations made by the Aurors just in case her services are needed.

SO TO RECAP: If you have a Gryffindor Marauder-age, DMLE employee, Healer or Order member... you'll have plot/history with Mary!

Okay, Beth here with #8 - Nicodemus Meadowes (and no, I don't have an addiction. I can quit whenever I want to!) younger brother of Dorcas and Astronomy professor/geek extraordinaire. Anyways, about him:

+The youngest child of the Meadowes family and best of friends with Cas
+Has an obvious hostility for most Blacks given his past and family history (but he's far more accepting of those whom are disowned)
+Was sorted into Ravenclaw and graduated in 1980 (meaning he knows Barty and Rabastan; Regulus was a year before him and same house...so they could've been friends, IDK)
+Took the astronomy position immediately after his schooling
+In 1985, he met his future wife - Lyra Bagnold, an aspiring Magizoologist who was working in Hogsmeade
+Jan 8, 1987, the two of them got married (yes there is a reason why I'm listing these dates)
+Sep 28, 1989, the couple's first and only son (named Alphard goes by the sobriquet of Alfie) was born
+Christmas hols same year, the Blacks staged an attack on Alphard and whilst unsuccessful, they killed Lyra instead, thusly making Nicodemus a widower
+He has never fully gotten over his wife's death and is more than willing to seek revenge when the Blacks mess up
+Usually goes by Nic, Nicodemus, or Professor Meadowes (yes, I know there are two now) only Cas can call him Nici though
+Is a major introvert following Lyra's death
+Also an astronomy buff and knows the stories behind all the constellations (which makes it ironic that Cygnus is next to the constellation Lyra)

Helloooo...so, I'm better than yesterday...and hopefully by this evening I'll be up for writing more than a few words at a time. I suspect by tomorrow I'll be back in nearly full action! :)
