Imogen blinked when he blocked her path. He was being very evasive about that corner, and she knew that probably meant she wouldn’t be too thrilled with what was over there. Still, it was just stuff. Things. It wasn’t as if he were hiding a second lady over there, so surely it couldn’t be that bad. She was more than happy to let herself be distracted when he bent his head to hers, hand turning her chin up to meet him halfway. Her arms slid around his neck and she hummed into his mouth.
This certainly went a long way towards making her feel less like a child. She briefly wondered how Kenzie was faring with K’rin-the girl had done plenty deflecting of her own-before R’ger wiped that thought away with his hands. They bracketed her rib cage, and they were warm and made her feel secure. She couldn’t remember why she’d been so worried yesterday.
Eventually they pulled away from each other. Not far, but enough to speak. Her hands fell to his biceps, fingers curling around them. “It’s a rest day.” She wanted to bury her forehead in his chest to hide. That was almost the same thing as inviting herself to stay. She should probably thank him and ask him for a lift down so she could revel in the fact that he hadn’t lost interest after all. Or whatever silly idea had pushed her over the edge into a panic yesterday. Something she didn’t think he had to be aware of.
