"Don't be silly, Fen. You need to look after Lyrra, and I can look after myself," Kenzie waved him off, standing and replacing her friend's chair before she returned to the waiting dragon. This time she placed a friendly hand on Baerth's muzzle, petting him the way that she petted Valoth frequently before Fen helped her up onto his back. He was bigger than the blue. Probably almost as big as a bronze, just like R'ger had said at the gather. Fen had a lot to be pleased with, in his lifemate.
She knew that he had always wanted a bronze... but Baerth was very good for him. Steadying.
"The bowl. I'll be fine, I promise. You have enough to worry about, and I don't really want to cuddle with you and Lyrra. That just sounds all sorts of weird, and I'm not interested in the least, thank you." Her teasing sounded flat, but at least she was trying. Really, Kenzie just wanted to go back to her room and fall into bed and sulk. Until K'rin spoke to her again. Then she could probably stop.
