Kenzie had finished in the infirmary when she sent Prinz to Valoth, and had finished in her own small bathing chamber by the time the proud little blue flit reported back to her with the dragon's answer. Her hair was still wet, falling in damp curls around her shoulders, but she just couldn't bring herself to spend any time fixing it back up. Not even for K'rin, not after such an exhausting day. Patching up the weyrlings had taken quite a bit out of her; seeing Lyrra hurt had been frightening. And then there was the blue pair, who had been so badly scored.
Kenzie had dismissed that from her mind, pulled her hair up into a tail, and then gone to Valoth to be taken up to K'rin's weyr. She assumed that he would be waiting for her there; imagine her surprise when she found him still in a bath of his own, and muttering about his dragon's meddling. Her lips twitched in a smirk. Valoth, apparently, had his own ideas about what his rider needed. She was pleased that they included her. So she took a moment to talk to the blue, even though he didn't talk back to her, running her hand along his muzzle. She told him that he had done very well with the weyrlings and their dragons during the fall, and thanked him for keeping those dragons belonging to the hurt weyrlings calm while she helped them.
Of course, she was sure it didn't matter at all to the blue. But it seemed a nice, respectful thing to do. And Kenzie wanted K'rin's lifemate to like her. She had wanted D'kai's lifemate to like her once, too, but they had never managed to work that out. There had been too much hatchling jealousy. Valoth was not a hatchling; there was a chance that he actually might.
Soon enough, she left the dragon and went to find her blue rider, who had only a towel around his waist. Now there was a nice sight, and Kenzie's lazy smile said so. "Aw," she offered. "I got here too late." The blonde accepted his arm around her shoulders though, turning to move with him back toward his bedchamber. That room, at least, was familiar. Soon enough, he had become distracted and she'd begun doing the leading, but she didn't mind that. He'd had a longer day even than her; she could respect his hard work.
"Of course I came. Your bed is bigger than mine," she teased back, turning her head to kiss his bare shoulder. "Besides, I thought we could both use the company. Did it go horribly?"
