Gabby's first question made her flinch. She wasn't even sure how to answer it. It was hard for her to admit that she cared about people in that stupid building, but it was even harder to accept that there was something about it that made her feel better. When she wasn't fearing for her life, she realized that she was feeling stronger. The magic that she had learned had transformed her from an awkward twenty-something that wasn't worth the paper her birth certificate was printed on into a witch. And a good one at that. Even the Russia trip, though it had traumatized her, left her feeling tougher than before. She was worth something in Bellum in a way that she wasn't otherwise. Why would she want to give that up?
Thankfully, Gabby's other question allowed her to conveniently forget about the first. Waving a hand slightly at her mention of questions, Joanie shrugged. "We should put together an FAQ," she said simply, stuffing a hand in her pocket. "You'd know P3 better as Dracula." Just saying his name filled her with fear. She hadn't heard from Aiden after she dropped off Van Helsing's crucifix. "And everybody has a reason for being their fable, so no, he isn't just misunderstood."
