Who: Hannah and Emery Liam
What: She thinks she's going to hang out with Emery. Liam has other plans.
Where: 807
When: Today, in the evening.
Warnings: Not-nice things are likely.
Valentine's Day hadn't mattered so much when she was younger. When she was a kid everyone got those boxed Valentine cards with some kind of heart-shaped candy attached, and when she got home her father would always have some treat or another awaiting her arrival. As she got older, though, it became less obligatory and more optional. More emphasis was put on romance and finding that 'special someone', and there was no room for the single and unattached. Sure, she'd had boyfriends before her father died and everything went to hell, but they were the kind that didn't last long. Only one had stuck around long enough to celebrate a Valentine's Day, but their dinner had seemed more like a mindless routine than anything else.
Needless to say, Hannah had grown to dislike the holiday - if one could even call it a 'holiday'. All those sappy cards and stuffed animals, all red and pink and white, advertisements with doe-eyed couples exchanging jewelry and the multitude of romantic movies was just too much. Ignoring it like she'd planned to do was easier said than done, considering she couldn't even turn on the tv or even her computer without being reminded of it.
Which was why she was particularly glad that she had something to look forward to. The prospect of seeing Emery again after all these years made the abundance of cheesy movies she was stuck with almost bearable. She wasn't so sure about Liam, and secretly was glad that he wouldn't be there. That wasn't to say that she never wanted to meet him, but not right now. She'd had too many awkward situations to last her a lifetime so far, and it would be nice to spend time with someone she didn't have to be on guard with, someone she trusted more than anyone else.
It was nearing 7 o'clock when she decided to leave, casual - but not too casual - in a pair of dark jeans and a black off the shoulder sweater. For a moment she wondered if she was supposed to bring something, but Emery hadn't said anything - not that he would have, though - so at the last second she grabbed the only box of chocolates she had left that was still essentially full. Gabriel followed her to the door, tail wagging, and she gave him a quick hug before pulling the door shut behind her and heading towards the stairs. Hannah didn't trust the elevator to take her to the right floor, and besides, two sets of stairs wasn't that bad. She usually walked ten anyway.
The eighth floor was silent, and she remembered that only Emery and some other guy lived here. Her floor, although more full than his, was never too loud, so she didn't mind it. Pausing to shift the box to her other hand and take a deep breath, she knocked on the door of 807 with a smile.
