Episode 1x05: Free Fall

From tv.com/highlander episode guide:
First aired: 10/31/1992 Production Code: 92101

A beautiful young woman, Felicia Martins, throws herself to her death, only to revive with the realization that she is an Immortal. She seeks out Duncan MacLeod as her mentor, and becomes amorously involved with Richie Ryan. But there is much more to this "ingénue" than meets the eye. She is in fact a long-time Immortal, engaged in a wily scheme to trap MacLeod and acquire his Quickening. MacLeod must see through her subterfuge in time to protect not only himself, but also Richie.

My Observations: This episode literally stop me from updating this journal. Seriously, every time I tried to write about it became worse and worse to watch. The first time was cool because of Joan Jett and after a couple runs Joan Jett should never act again. God! she was horrible. But I won't put this all upon her head because this episode was just blahhhhhh. But in perspective Felicia Martins is also introduced as the female immortal (evil) to the series. This time I sat down after many months and said just get to it. I did. There might be tense, discrepancies changes since there was a break between last year and me actually finishing this episode.

Where's Joe: Hmm. My one fun thing to do until Joe is officially introduced. Joe was in the crowd at the sword auction with Tessa and Duncan. You know I checked with the watcher's section and there wasn't any watcher on Felicia and Claude so I am giving them, Laure and John. Laure's car was the one Felicia dropped on "062-brh" licensed red caddy. John's car was behind Claude in the beige hatchback. :)

Episode 1x04: Innocent Man

From tv.com/highlander episode guide:
First aired: 10/24/1992 Production Code: 92107

An Immortal friend of MacLeod's is beheaded in his isolated mountain retreat where he had hoped -- like MacLeod -- to retire from the fight for a while. A brain-damaged, homeless veteran is charged with the grisly crime, and an attempt is made to link him to the killing of Slan Quince (the villain of episode one, "The Gathering"), an Evil Immortal whom MacLeod himself had slain in combat. MacLeod must try and clear the innocent man and unravel the mystery of who killed his friend. Here again we get a glimpse of MacLeod's past, in flashbacks set during the American Civil War.

My Observations: I saw this episode last week with episode three and now that I am posting I realize that believing in immortals exist just sounds weird. Can you imagine telling someone this, I see crazy house. Hmm, I wonder if any watcher was caught by law after breaking down, talking about the watchers and ended up in an asylum? Probably part of the "Watchers" system would come in and "deal" with the problem quickly and quietly.

Now that some time has passed I can honestly say I like this episode and it only took until episode four to do so. Possible reason: There was more fighting in this one that dealt with Immortals.

Where's Joe: This is starting to become a common fixture in my head, like "Where's Waldo". Anyway I thought to come with ideas of where is Joe and in the scene this truck is moving away as Duncan's Thunderbird drives in. I thought that Joe needed something to be mobile in and uncover is thy name of watcher. :)

Episode 1x03: The Road Not Taken

From tv.com:
First aired: 10/17/1992 Production Code: 92108

Richie's friend dies of an overdose of a herbal drug and MacLeod suspects the source of the drug is another Immortal, Kiem Sun. Sun has has long sought to perfect such a drug and remove its lethal side effects for the betterment of mankind. But a disciple of Kiem Sun's is using the drug for his own gain, and MacLeod and Sun must track him down. When it becomes clear that Kiem Sun plans to continue his experiments despite the dangers, MacLeod destroys the remaining sample of the drug.

I think this is a better episode than previous "Family Tree". I don't know to explain yet as I tend to develop my ideas long after I watch or time has passed on an episode. I will say the fighting and swordfighting was what I expected from the show. I'll probably say more about Duncan's morals/ideas are played in this episode but not today. Though the one I am still wondering about is Richie, and if he won't stop trying to be the criminal he obviously fails at miserably. I do see the potential problem for poor Tessa or should I say the actress who plays her as I do remember her dying but I didn't understand the first time I saw this show but in these three
episodes, I'm starting to see the pattern. The two guest stars was interesting but felt to me as a backdrop to just getting to the point. I know drug references should apply in here too but as I said, later.

Psst. I am not lying but as I write this up Sci-Fi Ani-Monday is showing Highlander: the Search for Vengeance. Let me laugh my ass off right now. If you listen carefully the doctor's voice is Jim Byrnes.
