My notes on the series...

I had to stop for a minute on the picture reviews but I decided to add my thoughts on certain things until I resume again, I wrote this in my journal and reposting it here but I thought this could work better here. I've come to one of many conclusions after watching the a good chunk of the series.

I am not the most brilliant writer in the world but I think I get the most exciting bunnies and sometimes too damn complexed for my hands to put down into print. Because I'm doing picture reviews with the whole series on and it will take me at least a year to get through them all in that way, I decided to watch the series. Not all the episodes but a fast run through just as a TV viewer which turned me into something of a dog with the head out the window. ( can't see subtle undertones until after for anything.) But coming to my conclusions now that I am finished until I do separate reviews, I also watched the "back stories" to the episodes they have on the DVD and in the sixth year they mention that season was more of try-out season for the spin off series of Highlander.

The only thing I got from it is that TPTB went in the wrong direction looking for a woman to carry as how instead of looking at the characters on the Highlander series that was just as strong with history and popular to the audience. Even though they choose Amanda, and she was on a lot, they really never given her much history to work with. The episodes she was in had mostly fluff not just in lightness but more of you really never saw her as anything more than a secondary character.

I would never see her as someone who can carry a show and that is what ultimately failed the "Highlander: Raven" series.

Back to my ultimate thought: While I was watching Highlander and enjoying it muchly I noticed that the reason I never finish watching the series the first time around was actual Immortals themselves. Because when it came near the series' end I seriously got bored with them and wanted to know more about the watchers' society and how much Joe was really controlling after the episode, "One Minute to Midnight" than what was going on with Duncan and his long lived brethren but it is called "The Highlander" and not the "The Watchers"but sometimes I wish it were. Especially in "Avatar" when Joe kept saying "his people" but his people are in the US so how much did he gain after the top people was murdered by Jacob Galati.

To be honest, with the love I have for Joe and Methos, they could of written stories for them and I would of watched. But that is my bias and was never to be...

I even have this picture in my head for "The Watchers" intro or at least a drawing where they are wearing black trench-coats and small groups are standing still on smaller boats as the fog rolls in-between them (the whole you can't see them but they can see you) over slow graying water and all of them are looking forward at you, some wearing shades, glasses and some are not but in the front boats has Joe and Methos looking as well. (my bias kicking in. :))

Joe along with Methos showing up could carry a show based on the watchers alone, but that's my theory.

If I was brilliant I would start writing about the Watchers POV instead of the Highlander/Immortals and build a universe: The ins and outs, their daily lives, traveling around the world, never leaving more than 50 miles from home, being as a historian, their deaths, what they believe in and even the reasons they became a "Hunter" in the first place.

See, my bunnies are too exciting for my poor hands.
