Episode 1x02: Family Tree
From tv.com/highlander episode guide:
First aired: 10/10/1992 Production Code: 92103

Richie Ryan, Duncan MacLeod's protégé, attempts to learn more about his parents, whom he has never known. Instead, he falls prey to a con man who, needing a place to stay and a quick score, pretends to be Richie's long-lost father. While MacLeod and Tessa try to keep Richie from being hurt, MacLeod relives his own traumatic past, where he first realized he was an Immortal, and was renounced by the man who had raised him as his son.

I didn't like this episode and why pick this to start the series. Nothing personal, it just was boring. Oh well, it has it moments like another guest star Peter Deluise as Clinch and he wasn't bad as the heavy. I didn't care for his boss Mrs. Gustavson, but she was believable as a mean boss. I liked the con man Joe Scanlon and his moments he had with Richie but you knew he was BSing the whole time. I almost felt sorry for Richie. Almost, because I was trying to feel out the actor's style and he wasn't doing it for me. The regular cast felt odd (especially Duncan, or should I say Paul with the slight overacting in the flashback scenes) but I gave it the first episode jitters and them sorting out who the characters are and hopefully it will get better. Right? Overall, I give it a 6 because the guesting actors felt more natural to me than the regulars. Onto the pictures...

While he's now dealing with Stargates these days, I see him still for the years on 21 Jumpstreet as this person, it has to be the hair. ...

Joe, well not that Joe. But don't you wish it was. :) ...

Richie, you should know by not that you suck as a thief and now trying to con the social services woman, wait let me guess what happens next? ...

Yep, he's caught. Did I said he sucks at being a criminal of any type. ...

Richie telling him about Duncan about finding his past and where he belongs in this world. ...

Duncan McCleod of the Clan McCleod is, dead. ...

Now he's alive, naked and a demonized by dear old dad. ...

Honestly, I have more interest in the scenery, you'll never know what Joe Dawson is doing at this moment. :L ...

So, Duncan gave him an idea to find his father. Not bad idea, if the clues wasn't so flimsy and Richie's walkabout was almost unnecessary. Actually Tessa's idea of using the phone book was the better idea but I guess they need the scenes to fill. ...

Well wonder of wonders he finds the man who sold him candy when he was four. Hmmm. ...

More clues by the candyman gets him an apartment to start and he meets Joe. Not that Joe, silly girl. ...

Joe tells him that he's Jack Ryan, his father. Well hell that was expected. *shrug* but I like Richie's reaction. ...

Of course Duncan thinks is a little easy, guess somebody is thinking properly. So, oh look when he goes investigating at Joe's and finds Clinch and gets more info. ...

Oh, just because. ...

Just because again. Oh, he telling Richie that it's important to know where you come from. ...

Ian McCleod ...

I can't decide if I like him with the long or shorter hair. *shrug* ...

The pic is because Richie got conned and Joe stole from Duncan's collection and so he went looking for Joe and Duncan went looking for Richie. Richie goes to the gambling place and meets Clinch, introduce yourself Richie. ...

While an interesting knife throw, not totally believable....

Apparentely when it comes to Clinch, he couldn't in the end. :hee too easy. ...

I actually like this shot of Richie and because he has a more sense of self that is always attractive. ...

Psst. I am not lying but as I write this up Sci-Fi Ani-Monday is showing Highlander: the Search for Vengeance. Let me laugh my ass off right now. If you listen carefully the doctor's voice is Jim Byrnes.
