Episode 1x04: Innocent Man
From tv.com/highlander episode guide:
First aired: 10/24/1992 Production Code: 92107

An Immortal friend of MacLeod's is beheaded in his isolated mountain retreat where he had hoped -- like MacLeod -- to retire from the fight for a while. A brain-damaged, homeless veteran is charged with the grisly crime, and an attempt is made to link him to the killing of Slan Quince (the villain of episode one, "The Gathering"), an Evil Immortal whom MacLeod himself had slain in combat. MacLeod must try and clear the innocent man and unravel the mystery of who killed his friend. Here again we get a glimpse of MacLeod's past, in flashbacks set during the American Civil War.

My Observations: I saw this episode last week with episode three and now that I am posting I realize that believing in immortals exist just sounds weird. Can you imagine telling someone this, I see crazy house. Hmm, I wonder if any watcher was caught by law after breaking down, talking about the watchers and ended up in an asylum? Probably part of the "Watchers" system would come in and "deal" with the problem quickly and quietly.

Now that some time has passed I can honestly say I like this episode and it only took until episode four to do so. Possible reason: There was more fighting in this one that dealt with Immortals.

Where's Joe: This is starting to become a common fixture in my head, like "Where's Waldo". Anyway I thought to come with ideas of where is Joe and in the scene this truck is moving away as Duncan's Thunderbird drives in. I thought that Joe needed something to be mobile in and uncover is thy name of watcher. :)

...

Onto the pictures...

I know this guy from a show but I think he was on a lot of shows during that time. ...

Oh, they got stranded going to Duncan's friend home and I assume they are the same road as the homeless guy. ...

Ooops, homeless guy stumbles upon a quickening. Is it me or do those(quickenings) sound like thunder. ...

I'm am sorry but I need to stereotype. Why in these shows white people go where others won't? It's like red shirts in Star Trek. You know that bad things are going to happen now, don't you. The homeless guy, I guess gets a pass since he's suppose to be a couple cans short of a case, but still. ...

[Duncan fell to his knees when he felt his friend die. Question: Was the range and how specific are these quickenings? I mean did he feel his friend or just another Immortal and guess it was his friend?]

Can't remember Duncan's friend(DF) name now but he is the one that died in the house. And foreshadowing of the real killer since the "sheriff" just happens to come seconds after the "murder". Anyway this is Duncan going back with Richie to find out who killed his friend when the guy wanted to stay out the game for a while. ...

Tell me why I like Tessa and this is a good example. Nosy woman with annoying voice and Tessa puts her in her place. ...

Can you not feel the evil vibes coming off the sheriff, can't you, can't you. ...

I took the picture for homeless man(HM) face but you'll notice it's the detective from previous episode. Hmm, I noticed they brought up the fact that both HM and cop were Vietnam veterans. ...

[I talked with someone that the watchers had done the clean up of Slan's death in episode one but I was wrong. I guess they couldn't get to the body for disposal and the cops have it now. Hence, the detective being in the small town looking at a potential criminal with the same type of MO.]

Oooh, evil sheriff tell the cop, the black cop that the HM might of owned his people. He doesn't care how mean that statement was. I guess it wasn't in the handbook for police relations and courtesy. Brings up another question as to accents. I am not from the Northwest so I couldn't say, but why do people sound like they are from the south. Is this south Canada. :) ...

This picture because I wanted to know if the kid actually said the n-word? I know I know context of the story but it was still surprising to hear, so am I watching a different version or did this get pass in editing? ...

Another just because picture. Not really a good one is, it? I'm just wondering... jerri curls? ...

The Colonel/DF in better health, I mean alive. ...

The requisite diner shot ...

Richie: If they start playing a banjo, I am outta here. ...

Gee the cop doesn't trust the sheriff, big surprise. I mean the cop says the HM couldn't commit murder much less find his way out of the light and the sheriff makes cracks about cop's ancestry. Why, they should get along, don't you think. The cop is taking the prisoner to be evaluated personally so nothing can happen to the HM. Sheriff isn't happy. No shit. ...

Duncan and Richie are caught outside with angry mob but not for long. Ha! Sheriff tells the mob where to find the prisoner. Subtle, isn't he? Sheriff you have a date with death, and his name is Duncan MacLeod, ah you know the rest. ...

I try so hard to capture a fight scene, still eluding. ...

While he about to be beheaded, I love that the sheriff is telling Mac that he will spare his friends and family. Really [sarcasm] the show is called "The Highlander", not "Sheriff". There can be only one. ...

Quickenings are hard to capture, hmm how does Joe do this job? ...

Much better, electricity. Something's going to get destroyed. ...

Great! Picture of cabin in the beginning of quickening. ...

During real explosion. ...

Everything's all well ang good so the gang goes home and sheriff is found to be real killer. Surprise! :) HM is continuing his journey as a free man. Ask Duncan money for his purple heart which Duncan is generous with money but sticks the medal back in his bag. Awww. ...

Proper burial for friend. Strange the cabin is still intact and that was a big explosion so what happened here? ...
