RP: Emergency Family Meeting

Summary: Anthony brings the kids and their partners over so he, Megan and Kevin can give them the news.

Anthony rubbed his eyes and sat up slowly in bed, grateful to see the sun shining. As he woke, he imagined that it would be a beautiful day outside. Then the memories of the previous evening came back and he clenched his teeth.

After using the loo and putting on loose fitting robes, he headed for the kitchen. A part of him simply could not believe that the bastard Lestrange and his cunting wife were still alive. Alive and with offspring! He rubbed his head and groaned at the mere thought of it.

He stumbled into the kitchen and found the kettle, filling it with water and setting it on the stove to heat. As he leaned against the counter, he briefly wished he smoked... he could use a pull off of a cigarette right now.

Megan blinked as she woke up slowly. She still felt a little groggy and it took her a moment to clear her head and the events of last night to come rushing back to her. As much as she wanted it to be a bad dream, she knew it wasn't.

She saw Kevin next to her and didn't feel Anthony. It meant he was already up. She was surprised she was even able to sleep last night. Then it hit her that she didn't remember going to sleep. That led her to only one conclusion. One of the boys put her to sleep. It was really sweet of them to think about her in that way. She did need to sleep because of the baby.

She managed to slide out of the bed and into the loo. There was some slight nausea there but that was probably due to being upset last night. She put on her maternity robes and made her way to the kitchen where she found Anthony. She moved to him and wrapped her arms around him. "Please tell me last night was a really bad dream."

	Anthony smiled when Megan walked in just as the kettle whistled. He waved his hand, sending the tea in to steep as he felt her. "I wish I could, love," he said sadly, "But it did. Kevin stretched as he woke up, quickly aware he was alone. He sat up and looked around, seeing and feeling that everything was all right.

He used the loo then slipped into Muggle jeans, heading for the kitchen. He smirked as he walked in, unsurprised to see Megan and Anthony there, even catching the last of their conversation.

"Slept fitfully," he said, kissing Megan's cheek then Anthony's, "Thought about shagging him to sleep... but I figured it would be very rude of us to do that and you not be awake to see it."

	Megan frowned when she heard Kevin didn't sleep well. When she realized that Kevin wasn't wearing a shirt she licked her lips. Just seeing him that way made her almost forget all the bad stuff. Eira had been at David's when the firecall came in last night. They were concerned considering Anthony called them in the middle of the night and told them to strengthen their wards, along with instructions for the clinic. They did and went to bed, wondering what this was all about.

They woke very early, dressing the heading to the clinic. Eira went right to work, canceling the few appointments for the day, as well as posting a sign saying they were closed due to a 'family emergency' and directing people to go to the Shack if it was anything severe.

By the time they Apparating to the front lawn of the Manor, Eira was tired again, and David looked it. "I hope we find out why they wanted all this done," she said as they headed for the door. She stopped a few feet away and let herself feel the magic around the Manor. "They strengthened the wards... a lot," she said to David, "This must be extremely serious."

David had been concerned since the firecall came in. It wasn't like Papa to call in the middle of the night that way. He didn't sleep all that well and was very glad that Eira had been with him that night.

After getting everything done, they arrived on the grounds of the Manor. "So do I. I'm worried." When the approached the front door, David could feel just how much the wards were strengthened. He had never felt them this strong in his life. "Yes..something has to have happened for them to be this strong."

David led Eira inside and went to find his parents. When he found them he was glad that they seemed alright but he could tell that his fathers hadn't slept well. He hugged his Mum and his fathers before asking the question he knew wouldn't be answered right now. "What's going on?"

Alex had been a little surprised when the firecall from Papa came. She was already stressed and worried about her project and now she was told to strengthen her wards. They were already very strong, they had to be since she regularly brought work home. The look on Papa's face kept her from asking and just agreed to do what he asked.

George had stayed over and after getting off from Papa, he helped her strengthen the wards making them even stronger. She wasn't able to really sleep, her mind trying to work out what was going on. She didn't waste time in getting up and getting dressed. As soon as they were able they Apparated onto the grounds. She held onto George as they walked to the door. "I'm scared, baby."

George did not like the knot that was in his stomach. The last time he'd felt it was during the war, and he had hoped those times were over. But somehow, he had a feeling things were happening again.

He held Alex's hand as they went inside the Manor, the feeling not lessening any. "So am I, love... so am I," he said as they walked to the dining hall in time to see Alex's parents walk in with David and Eira.

	Landon had slept fitfully every since getting his father's firecall last night. Even having Abby by his side didn't help his sleep, but he was glad she was with him in the morning. They dressed and headed to the Manor, Landon immediately feeling the difference in the wards. "Not good," he said as he grabbed Abby's hand, "Dad's made the wards stronger..." 	Abby had been just as worried after Anthony called them. She had no idea what was going on and she didn't like that. She liked knowing what the situation was before going into it. 	Rebecca, while worried for her parents, was also fuming as she and Zander Apparated to the Manor. When she felt the wards, she fumed more. It meant someone was messing with her family, and that was something she would not allow. "Come on," he said as she opened the door, hurrying in to find everyone in the dining hall. Anthony was relieved when all the children and their partners arrived at the Manor. Megan was visibly relieved, going around and hugging each one, to many bemused looks.

As soon as Megan came back to him, he quieted the room. "Everyone... please sit down." He watched as they did, all eyes focused on him. "An extremely unexpected... and unwelcome... situation has come up. I do apologize for calling on you last night, but we cannot wait any longer."

He took a breath and continued. "Last night, Kevin and I took Megan to the Casino of Sidi Al'Nasir to celebrate Megan's pregnancy . For the few that do not know, it is a 'neutral ground', where Wizards and Muggles who know about us to mingle. It is very exclusive yet tantamount to unexpected confrontations." He bit his lip and continued. "After dinner, we had such a confrontation... with two people who are supposed to be dead...

"Rabastan Lestrange and his wife, Lisa."

	Alex was glad that everyone arrived quickly. She really needed to know what was going on. When she saw her Mum hug everyone, she was even more puzzled about what could be going on. As her Papa talked Alex listened carefully. The news came as quite a shock. They had been taught that all the Lestranges were dead. It seemed almost impossible. "You're positive?" Kevin stood up. "Yes, we're positive," he said, "Was the same smirk, swagger, boldness... they even smelled the same... like death."

He sighed. "If you studied your history, you know Rabastan was a Slytherin. But he had the cunning strategic mind of a Ravenclaw. He told us he had an escape plan from the beginning... we should have been prepared for that."

He leaned on the table. "And the history books neglected to mention something... the bodies were never checked over to see if it was really them. People were so relieved it was over that they put the bodies to the flame. It was never 100% confirmed."

Abby listened to Anthony news and began to fume when she heard the name Lestrange. She knew her own family history with the Lestranges and if it was true then she had to tell her parents soon.

She groaned when she heard that there were no checks on the bodies. How stupid could the people in charge had been? "So basically the Ministry are idiots. They'll never admit their mistake, which means even if you say something not many will believe it."

Anthony gave a humorless chuckle. "They won't believe it until someone high up sees with their own eyes," he said, "It may not be long. Rabastan has always been known to spread the fear... what better way than to show that he is back. But until then, we are very much on our own against the bastard and his wife. Oh... I almost forgot. He has offspring as well. I'm sure we'll find out how many in the coming days."

He stood and looked everyone over. "The important thing is that you are on your guard at all times. From what we gathered, they know of all of you." There were some murmurs, but they died down quickly. "If your homes are not Unplottable, I would suggest you make them so as soon as you leave here. Kevin, Rebecca and Alex can help with that. Kevin will work with our house elf Pela to make sure it's done to the Manor. A place of this size necessitates that."

He looked at Kevin and nodded. "Kevin and I talked and we do know of one advantage we have... and that you," he said, looking at Alex. "Rabastan does not know that you are an Unspeakeable. If he did, he would not only have mentioned it, he would have taken action already. I know that there are those in the Department of Mysteries you trust. Talk to them... see if you can get them to investigate with you. Look for anything unusual in areas not known for Magic. It could be a key to at least determining where they may be located."

He looked over everyone else. "As for the rest, I have an enormous favour to ask of you. I need everyone to promise... that you will not tell anyone outside this room... not even your closest relatives... that Alex is an Unspeakeable. If Rabastan were to find out that your relatives or friends knew this, he would use them against you and make them suffer." He swallowed. "In ways you cannot imagine... but which Kevin and I have seen firsthand."

Alex was a bit surprised when Papa looked at her. Then he mentioned her department. It was only then that the full weight of the danger she could be in hit her. If the Lestranges didn't know where she worked, they didn't know about her research. They couldn't find out about that. Just the thought of it had her beginning to shake and caused fear to bubble up inside of her. She had known it was dangerous but there was little chance of anyone going after it. Now...she couldn't bring herself to think about the possibilities.

She nodded when he mentioned talking to those in the Department. She had already planned to do that. Lucas would be one of the first she talked to.

Kevin smiled when he saw George comforting Alex. He got everyone's attention and got down to business. "Apart from helping everyone with their wards," he said, "I feel it is also important to prepare yourself. With that in mind... I am offering training to anyone that wants it."

He watched everyone whisper a bit. "Now... that means I will be training in Magical AND Muggle means," he explained, "I will be going over defensive and attacking skills. I will not lie to you... if you are confronted by Rabastan, Lisa, or their offspring, you are most likely going to have to fight for your life."

He pulled a sword from the wall, which made Becca light up. "Also... Rabastan is an accomplished swordsman... and I imagine the rest of them are as well," he said as he slid a finger down the blade, "And in that case, we fight steel with steel." He smiled at his daughter. "Becca, I trust you'd like to help me with this?" He chuckled when she nodded quickly.

"However... it doesn't mean you HAVE to," he said, "If you'd rather work on the Healing side of things, Anthony and Megan can help you with that. But my main point is be aware of your surroundings, and stay alert." He left it at that, letting it sink in.

Alex felt sick to her stomach just at the thought of having to fight. Yes, she received an outstanding in Defense Against the Dark Arts but she never liked fighting. It was one of the reasons she took a job in the Department of Mysteries. She was much better with theory and figuring spells out not actually using them against someone. She wasn't sure she could kill again.

	As everyone talked around him, Landon sat for a moment and took this all in. Alex was in danger, that was sure. But as a Quidditch player, he was also in significant danger, being in the open. Abby nodded. "Yes you are but that could be used to our advantage. It really depends on what the Lestranges want. I do plan to be at every one of your games though."

She cupped his face with her hand. "I know you are, love. We'll get through this. I wouldn't worry too much about Becca, she can take care of herself. We Slytherins do know how to protect the ones we love."

David was scared and trying not to let it show. The Lestranges did a lot of damage last time and he was going to need to make sure he brushed up on emergency procedures.

He was also worried about his family, especially Alex. She was in danger just because of what she did for a living. He also had a feeling that she didn't like the idea of fighting anyone.

He put his arm around Eira when she moved closer. He looked at his Mum and knew why she was scared. He leaned over and whispered in Eira's ear. "During the war, Rabastan and Lisa Lestrange tortured and killed her father and her brother. I have a feeling this is bringing all of that back."

	Eira's concern to anger when David told her what had happened to Megan. "Well... they best hope they never cross my path," she said with authority. She may have been a Hufflepuff, but she was was was good at DADA and she was very efficient in Charms. She could hold her own in a fight, especially when angered. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Zander was listening and taking it all in. Even in America they knew of the Lestranges and just how dangerous they were. The idiocy of the Ministry to not check and make sure of identities of the Lestranges was mind boggling and now Becca's family was paying for that.

He looked over at Becca, she looked calculating and dangerous. It was incredibly sexy. He leaned over and whispered in her ear. "What are you thinking, love?"

	Becca's anger was more controlled, and she was calculating plans and strategies for anything that might come up. She turned to Zander and smiled. "Oh, I'm thinking lots of things," she said, "Ways to protect, ways to get back at these people for what they did to my parents. And sword fighting... you'll finally get to see me in action, love." 	Anthony cleaned up the dining hall, glad for the silence. The kids and their partners left not long ago, Kevin going with them to make their homes unplottable. He was glad everyone had been so understanding and supportive. He finished and went to the study, finding Megan lying on the big sofa. He knelt beside her and stroked her hair. "How you doing, love?" Megan lay on the sofa in the study once the children had left. She was glad they each had someone to lean on and love during this time. She hated though that her babies were having to fight a battle that was supposed to be long over. This was supposed to be a happy time. A new baby was coming and Alex and George were getting married. They should not have to worry.

She smiled softly when Anthony joined her. "I'm okay. Just trying to figure out why now. This is supposed to be such a happy time."
