He had called Carson the day he had meant to go Christmas shipping and said he would have to cancel, not really giving a good reason but having one of course. He hadn't gotten the results from the HIV tests he and William had taken yet and he was in no mood to buy christmas bits and bobs.

However, now that he knew he was HIV free, he needed Christmas decorations, not to mention some time with the gentle giant he had come to actually like and enjoy spending time with, even if it was the oddest pairing ever. Oh well. So, he rang up Carson, told him to come by the salon near closing time and planned to shop and then have the man over for dinner at his place. Maybe he'd even get to meet William. Who knew?

So, Brendan was sitting in his little office in the back of the salon, reading an email and humming to himself-carol of the bells to be exact-as he waited for his friend to arrive.

Excited to get to go Christmas shopping, Carson had gotten home from his shift, showered and dressed up in a pair of black slacks and a baby blue sweater. He harnessed up Sparky and clipped the leash onto his furry friend. Carson felt like he'd been neglecting the poor creature for the past week and figured it wouldn't hurt to bring him along.

So with everything he needed he made his way to the salon and stepped inside, blushing a bit when the first barber he'd gotten into a fight with saw him.

Said barber gave him a cold look before heading back to Brendan's office, knocking on the open door.

"Your Boo Radley is here," He said with a roll of his eyes before heading back out, giving Carson another look. Brendan smiled and got up, laptop being closed up and tossed into his bag that he put over his shoulder as he appeared in the salon area, waving.

"Hey, big guy. And Sparky," He waved to the dog before stopping at the front desk to have his calls sent along to his cell and telling everyone he was off for the day, getting a 'goodbye' from the group before leading Carson outside.

Where he took a deep breath and moved to put his arm around Carson's.

"God, I'm tired, Carson."

	Carson felt bad when he received the cold look from the worker and frowned a little bit, looking away bashfully. Though when Brendan finally appeared his face lit up with a smile and he followed the man outside, with his dog at his heels. "Poor thing. I'm sorry." 	"I don't mind at all." The man answered with a little smile. "And neither does Sparky, whom you can stop and hug whenever you feel the need. He's good for hugging and so am I." Nodding a bit, Carson moved to link his arm with Brendan's. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	"I will keep in mind that Sparky is good for hugs," Brendan nodded, leaning to Carson, glad to have a person who was not either snapping at him, sulking at him, or messing around with a kid on him to cling to for a bit, "But before we get into me, how are you, big guy? 	"Yes, yes. Trudging ever onward. Really I don't do anything too terribly exciting, though there was a fellow on the bus today who had a glass eye. It was neat." He smiled faintly at the thought. 	"No, no. Said he could but I didn't believe him! I would think it's a permanent thing, a glass eye. Or at least it would be painful to take out. I think I'd rather wear an eye patch, you know? Glass eyes are a bit too scary." He tittered a little bit. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	"No way?" Carson's eyes widened a bit at the very thought of it. "Wow. I would have never thought it!" He shook his head and paused when they finally reached the first Starbucks. "Coffee here okay? 	"Okay," Brendan nodded, "Oh Lord, I want an egg nog latte, you have no idea," He shook his head and gave Carson's arm a squeeze before he moved to open the door, heading in and towards the counter, pulling out his wallet to get himself a grande egg nog latte and a brownie. 	Quickly following in after with Sparky, Carson stepped up beside his friend and gently touched his wrist to get him to stop messing with his wallet. "Let me get this, Brendan." He offered, smiling a little as he ordered a pumpkin spice latte for himself and then pulled out his wallet to pay. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	"Oh, hey," Brendan looked to Carson and realized that the man was just about this side of great and sighed, "Okay. But I'm getting the next one," He put his wallet back and watched them make his drink, taking the brownie offered and having a piece of it, offering it to Carson as they waited, "Want some?" 	"I'm okay, but thank you." Carson wasn't a fan of brownies, if he were honest. He preferred cookies and cake. Which reminded him about the gingerbread cookies and he paled a little bit. Brendan shook his head, having another piece of his brownie, "We can stop by your place, then walk to my car, go to the store and then back to my place!" Following after Carson he got stopped up by a little toddler who squealed with delight at the sight of the dalmatian.

"Doggy!" The little ginger haired child stated, excitement obvious as she reached forward and touched Sparky's head. Carson's whole face lit up and he squatted down so he was level with the little girl.

"His name is Sparky. He likes you!" Carson stated softly, his whole demeanor seeming to change into one of gentle playfulness.

The girl squealed again as Sparky licked her.

"I like him! Mommy!" She looked up at her mom who just shook her head and smiled at Carson.

"Come on now, honey. He and Sparky need to go and drink their coffee. Say bye bye to the doggy."

"Bye bye doggy. Bye bye mister!" Giving Sparky a hug around the neck she moved to scramble into her mother's lap and Carson, smiling all the way, made the trip over to Brendan.

"Told you he was good for hugging." He pointed out.

Brendan watched this, shaking his head a bit. This was nuts. He was out with this ridiculously sweet guy while he was dating-and rather infatuated with-a guy who cared about him but yet hurt him about twice now in their short relationship. Three times if the first punch to the face counted. But at least William had held his hand when they were getting their blood tested, right?

He raised his eyebrows, "I'm not exactly a two year old girl, Carson, but I get the point," He smiled, "You're really good with kids, you know that?"

"Yeah? I like kids. They are innocent and fun to be around. Sometimes they have the greatest ideas, too." He plopped down in the chair and took his drink from Brendan. Taking a sip he looked back at the little girl.

"I sort of always wanted to work with little kids, but it just...never happened. I wouldn't have minded being a father, in my younger days but now? I'm a bit too old."

	"Not really. I was thinking more...working with child services? Maybe fostering some smaller kids. I wouldn't adopt but...to give a child love and care for even a few months would be something I'd like to do." Carson blushed a bit and scratched Sparky behind the ear.
