Stephanie had been positively giddy all evening. Riley had sensed her excitement and returned it eagerly in their play while Stephanie waited for Gulliver to appear. He was getting so big these days that it was an awful lot easier for Riley to tire Steph out before she could tire out the eager golden retriever puppy.

Why, you may ask, was Stephanie so excited? Because a certain letter had come in the mail today, and it had some very good news. After bouncing up and down like a madman and letting out a high-pitched shriek of delight, Stephanie had called her boyfriend and demanded he come over right that very instant. He could have been at work, and she still would have insisted he come over. He probably thought she'd lost her mind, the way she'd giggled at him on the phone.

Hearing a knock on the door, she hurried over to it with Riley hot on her heels, pulling it open with a grin. "Gully!" she exclaimed, and before giving him any sort of time to react, she grabbed him by the jacket, pulled him close, and kissed him.
