Needless to say, Emily had been caught pretty offguard when she woke up in the arms of one Evan Elkins. She had managed to panic silently for a moment before the throbbing in her head forced her to stop, and she noticed the aspirin on the bedside table... which Evan must have put there for her. Evan, who was fully clothed and very warm beside her.

With a soft sigh, she downed the two aspirin, before slowly turning to face him, still staying within the warmth of his embrace. "Evan," she said softly. Upon getting no response, she smirked and reached down to tickle him, fingers dancing across his stomach. "Wake up." She really hoped he didn't shout when he woke up. That would be rather unpleasant.

He didn't shout. In fact, Evan knew fully well where he was when he woke up. He didn't understand, however, why someone was tickling his belly. That wasn't a very pleasant way to wake up. Though, he supposed that with Emily being the one doing the tickling, it was alright.

"Hey, you. How you feeling?" He smiled and stretched, pushing his arms far above his head. He yawned. It was the best sleep he'd had in ages.

"Hung over," she replied honestly. She was beyond glad she didn't have work that day. Classes were later, and she wasn't entirely sure she'd be going to those, either. She hesitated a moment, before mumbling, "Thank you for coming last night. You shouldn't have. But thanks." No, he shouldn't have, but at least she knew she hadn't done anything stupid enough to make her hate not only him but herself as well.

She was right. He shouldn't have. She had told him that she didn't want to see or speak to him ever again. But Evan had a weak spot for the girl and doing something stupid like drinking alone was just asking for him to come over.

"Promise me you won't do anything like that again?" He reached forward and poked her side. She felt so fragile, even under just his fingertip.

Emily might have laughed if it didn't hurt so much. "I'd promise you, but I'd be lying," she told him. "It might not be the smartest idea, but it's just how I am." She managed a small smirk for him. "But I'll be sure not to drunk dial you next time. That's just rude."

"I'd prefer it if you did, otherwise you might do something stupid." Was it possible for her to die of alcohol poisoning? Evan wasn't sure. It wasn't physical bodily harm, was it? Either way, he didn't want to find out first hand.

"There's other ways to drown your sorrows."

Emily snorted and instantly regretted it, hand reaching up to clutch her head. "Something stupid? You mean like asking if I could kiss you?" she asked, quirking a brow at him. Yeah, that had been stupid. Of course, Emily personally thought people were more honest when intoxicated than they ever were sober. She didn't have much a thought-to-speech filter when she had been drinking.

"Well, I don't want to eat a bunch of ice cream. Studying hasn't helped. Running hasn't helped. Throwing his shit away hasn't helped- well, okay, that helped a little bit, but still."

"You haven't tried spending time with someone else..." Evan replied, arching his eyebrows innocently as he sat up. "I mean. Gabe definitely distorted your view on the male population. Maybe going out to a club and flirting with some guys might do you some good. Or just letting one take you out to dinner?" He was definitely fishing for a date. Without actually fishing for one, because...well. She didn't want to date him and all that.

"And for the record, asking me for a kiss wasn't stupid." He winked and pushed off the bed, bending over to touch his toes.

Emily blinked at him. She hadn't considered the fact that there might actually be guys who didn't have super powers out there that she could talk to. Maybe she could meet a normal guy, one who couldn't see inside her head, one who didn't know she was an invincible superfreak...

Then again, it was kind of nice being open about what she was. It was hard hiding it from people, especially when she wanted to get closer to someone. "I just got dumped by a stoner... for a girl with tattoos and body piercings and an ass the size of Manhattan. No one's going to want to go out with me."

"Tell you what. I'll take you out to dinner. I don't mind suffering for the cause," he said, between his legs. "And maybe while we're out, you can meet someone worth your time."

He stood straight again, and reached his arms over his head once more. Stretching was just part of his normal routine. He didn't even think about it anymore.

"But don't get hung up on some jackass who isn't hung up on you."

Emily restrained laughter for her own sake as he talked to her through his legs. Men really shouldn't be that flexible, and good-looking boys should also keep their butt away from girls' faces. He had a nice butt. Runners had nice butts, but Emily didn't like admitting that.

"You can't take me out, Ev. You have a girlfriend." She'd be jealous. Emily sure as hell would have been back when she had been dating him.

He did have a nice butt, didn't he? Evan knew it, which was part of the reason it had been flexing in her face. Give her a little looksie at what she was giving up.

"I'm not saying I'll take you out on a date. We'd go out as friends. Rebecca won't mind. She's not the jealous type, and nothing will happen anyways." Evan grinned and cracked his back.

He had nice shoulders, too. And nice abs. And... nice everything, really. But Emily wasn't allowed to think of those things, especially after having spent the night in the same bed with him- fully clothed, of course. "Maybe we should just... go to a club like you said." Much less personal, plus dancing was involved. Emily loved dancing.

"Not tonight, though." Her stomach shifted uneasily. "Definitely not tonight."

"Sounds like a plan. You, me and a club. David knew of some good ones in Boston. Maybe I'll ask Sean along. The three of us can roll in and take the city by storm." He finally stood straight, his body void of any movements. Suddenly, his expression changed from smiling to very serious.

"Listen." He cleared his throat. "I meant what I said, and have been saying about you and Gabe. You're better than he is. You don't deserve that shit. Fuck, you deserve better than I treated you."

"You should bring Rebecca," she said, off-handedly. "That way there'll be even numbers." Of course, if things paired off, that would leave her with Sean, which would probably make Evan uncomfortable, but Emily liked Sean. He was funny, if you asked her. A bit on the pervy side, but hey, so was Evan, and she'd dated him.

"I'm going to make.... toast." Becuase the idea of anything with any real substance was pretty damn horrendous. She willed herself slowly out of bed with a small groan, using his shoulder for aid briefly. "You have changed, haven't you?" she murmured, pressing her lips lightly against the dimple of his cheek. "I think Rebecca will be good for you." With a small smile, she made her way into her kitchen. Why did alcohol have to have such nasty morning-afters? Couldn't it just be enjoyable and have no reprocussions?

Well, alcohol wasn't that bad if you drank your weight in water before you went to bed. But Emily hadn't done that. Hell, Evan wasn't sure if Emily had any water the night before at all. They were busy talking and bonding, something they hadn't done for ages. It was nice. He was sure, even in her inebriated state, that she felt it too.

"Maybe. She might be busy." If he brought Rebecca, then Emily would be pairing off with Sean. That wasn't going to happen.

Emily sighed. "I think it would be good to bring her out somewhere like that. It'd be fun. We can plan around her schedule. She works for your dad, right? I'm sure he'd let her off if you asked nicely." Emily popped two slices of bread into her toaster, pressing down the button, before pouring herself another glass of water.

Evan rubbed at his temples. "Fine. I'll bring her, but you're not allowed to dance with Sean." So what if it sounded territorial. Evan knew he wouldn't like it, and he definitely didn't want to see it.

Emily turned back to look at him, surprised. "I'm pretty sure I'm allowed to dance with whoever I want to," she replied calmly. Especially now that she wasn't seeing anyone. Evan couldn't say as much.

"Fine, dance with him. But don't say I didn't warn you." And like that, it was pushed from Evan's mind. Instead, he focused on breakfast. Moving to the fridge, he opened it as if he lived there, pulled out a carton of OJ and poured himself a glass. He still remembered which cabinet housed the cups. Good ol' Emily. She'd never change.

"So. What's your 'type'?"

Emily rolled her eyes. "If you don't trust your best friend, maybe you shouldn't be friends with him anymore," she muttered, snatching the toast and tossing it on a plate. The truth was, Emily was changing. She was moving in with someone else as soon as her lease was up. Emily was tired of living alone, and Jazz had needed a room mate as much as she had.

"My type?" She eyed her toast warily, before taking a bite. "I don't know that I have one. They're all pretty different, but hm-" She took another bite, chewing thoughtfully. "Someone who's... protective, but not overbearing, with a sense of humor." Definitely important. "Not being an idiot helps. Confidence."

Evan reached forward and took a bite out of her toast. "Go on," he said, mouthful of crispy bread. It definitely wasn't hitting the spot.

He began rummaging through some more cabinets and produced a bowl and some Rice Krispies. Perfect.

"Honest. Not brutally so. Just... honest. And good-looking is always nice." She smirked. "Girls can be shallow, too. Someone who isn't intimidated by an athlete." Her smirk turned into a smile. "Someone who will play football with me and not be pissed off by my victory dance." And yes, she was implying she would win.

She shrugged. "I think I'm heading into perfect man territory rather than my type. Stop me now or I'll be going on about sunsets and skiing trips."

"Sun sets and ski trips? Gag me," he said, watching the rice fall into the bowl. He popped the top of the milk and poured it up to the top. "I mean. That's all well and good, but what guy is actually like that? I doubt any, really." He shrugged.

"I like a girl who can scrub it and still look beautiful. All that fake makeup look doesn't do it for me. She needs to be able to stand up for herself and have confidence without being conceited. I don't know. Oh, and she needs to have like, good qualities, I suppose. To keep me in line. I have to want to impress her."

Emily laughed. "A girl can dream. Like I said, I was talking perfect, and God knows, there's no such thing." Life had certainly made that clear to her.

"So naturally gorgeous, confident, and strong enough to whip your ass into shape." She chuckled. "Good luck with that one."

Emily paused in the middle of chewing her toast, eyes lifting to his face slowly. Was he talking about her? Was it horrifically conceited to think he might be? He had told her she looked beautiful last night when she thought she looked like absolute hell, so it wasn't entirely impossible.

"Evan..." she trailed off hesitantly.

He interrupted her before she could finish her train of thought.

"Hey, listen. You need to drink some water, maybe take a shower and go back to bed. I'm just delaying your...healing process. I'll respectfully bow out." He finished off his bowl rather quickly, dropped it in the dishwasher and looked around for his sweatshirt.

Emily had only finished one piece of her toast by the time he had wolfed down his bowl of cereal, and she slowly moved to the living room, to pick up his sweatshirt off the couch. Her hand hesitated halfway through holding it out for him as she met his gaze. "I wish I could figure you out," she breathed.

"That makes two of us, then," he replied quietly as he reached forward to take what she was holding out. Their hands touched briefly and he let his linger over hers for a moment before pulling away, sweatshirt in tow.

"Take a shower, yeah? The steam will be good for your headache."

Emily sighed. "Evan-" But what was she supposed to say? He had a girlfriend. She had just broken up with Gabe and was clearly emotionally unstable. They had gone through a relationship before, and it had ended terribly. They fought all the time, and quite frankly, most of the time, she wanted to punch him in the face.

It wasn't healthy, not for either of them, so why did they keep drifting back together? Were they just that masochistic? "I'm sorry," she finally whispered, withdrawing from him slightly.

"For what?" He pretended not to know what she was talking about. "For drinking yourself into oblivion?" He ruffled her hair playfully and pulled on his hoodie. It was cold.

"Well. I'm outtie."
