Entry tags:gulliver morris, january, stephanie barker

Who: Gulliver and Stephanie
What: Stephanie needs some love.
Where: Stephanie's apartment
When: Sunday
Rating: TBD

Stephanie was still not feeling so grand about Vincent's visit. Sure, it hadn't ended with her slamming the door in his face or visa versa, but it had ended up, as per usual, with her crying. They said they would try and work on things, but they always fought over something, generally something that was blown completely out of proportion when she got upset, and then he got upset, and then she started yelling, and he started yelling...

So Stephanie had asked the source of the previous argument to come over, not so she could blame him for the argument, of course, but because Gulliver Morris had a knack for making her feel better when her life was going to shit. Besides, they were sort of... dating now- the thought of actually calling him her boyfriend still made her blush a bit- and she liked spending time with him.

She was waiting in almost exactly the same position she had been when Vincent had been coming over, perched on the edge of her sofa with Wuthering Heights open on her lap. Of course, she was considerably farther in this go around, and her lips quirked into a smile as she continued to read the angst-ridden love story.

Gully was getting stuck in his own predicaments, but like any good friend, and now boyfriend, he stopped whatever he was doing and immediately headed over to Cait's place. It was cold, of course, so Gully was bundled up in whatever he could. He'd managed to clean the blood from his bike helmet finally, so at least he had that to keep his head and face warm once he put the mask on.

It took him some time to make it to Steph's, but that was to be expected. Like usual, the bike was locked, the buzzer was pressed, and up the stairs he went to Cait's 'home for the everybody else.' Opening up the door, he took his helmet off and started peeling off the layers of clothing he'd piled on just to keep warm, leaving a nice little Gully heap by the door before kicking off his shoes. He had a backpack with him that was filled with whatever he could scrounge up from his house that had chocolate in it. He new that Steph meant serious business when chocolate was involved, relationship or not.

"So what's wrong?" he questioned, a little frown on his face as he headed over to the couch, plopping down on the opposite side where he pulled his legs up and folded them. The backpack was placed between the two teens so he could open it, first pulling out a bag of oreos, followed by a carton of milk that he'd stolen from home.

Stephanie couldn't help but crack a smile as Oreos arrived on the coffee table, reaching into the bag to steal one. "Vince and I got into another fight," she mumbled, twisting the oreo so that the two cookies came apart, the cream resting on only one of the halves. She popped the cream-free cookie into her mouth, and waited until she'd swallowed it before talking again. "We made up, I think, but it still sucks fighting with him."

She sighed softly, looking over at him. "He brought some home videos over. Videos of us as a family, before my parents died." She felt her chest constrict, but she shook it off as she usually did and kept talking. "And I thought everything was going fine, and then he started lecturing me about how I shouldn't trust people, and how he couldn't keep me safe, and how dangerous the world is because I obviously don't know." Her head tilted into its usual position upon his shoulder as she leaned into him. "And he asked me... if I didn't want him in my life anymore, and I didn't know what to say because I just... screw things up for him, and he was happier before I came looking for him." With an hour long fight summarized into aproximately 60 seconds, she sucked in a deep breath and popped the rest of the oreo into her mouth. Thank God for chocolate.

"Steph, he means well. He's trying to play a parent, but he's still just as much a kid as you. Yeah, he's totally overbearing, but its going to save your butt one day, simply because he's an awesome brother to you. He's not half wrong either, trusting people.. especially with what you are and what you can do, its really dangerous."

He let her rest her head against him, running a non-oreo-filled hand through her hair to try and keep her comforted. "You don't screw things up for him, you don't do that for anyone. You enrich people's lives, including his. He'd probably be some jagbag if it weren't for you keeping him at bay sometimes. You two have an awesome checks and balance system going on. Just.. enjoy as much time with him as you can, you only get family once.." It was a sad topic. He knew about Steph's parents, but at least she had a brother that cared for her. Gully lived in a basement. His father wasn't attached to him, and his step family? What a joke. So his words were very sincere into making sure she held onto Vince for as long as she could.

"I brought ho-hos too.." he said softly, pointing at the backpack. "So.. these videos.. are they seriously dorky?"

Stephanie frowned at him, not because of his assurances that she should hold on to Vincent and that she wasn't completely ruining his life, but that he was telling her she shouldn't be trusting people. "He told me that I shouldn't have told you," she said, lifting her head up to look him in the face. "I don't want to have to lie about who I am, not to you." It had been hell keeping the secret from him as long as she had, and when she'd finally blurted out about her abilities to him it was only because he'd spoken about his first. And once she'd started, it had been murder not to tell him everything. She liked to think Gulliver would have told her if he had known.

"I don't know. I was seven or under in all of them," she replied with a weak smile, reaching for another oreo. "I'd say they're more along the lines of cute."

About being a sociopathic murderer? No, Gully was good at keeping his personal thoughts and personal life to himself. Its what made him appear so outwardly innocent and friendly and trustworthy. Not that he wasn't any of those though either, because he certainly wouldn't be telling anyone about Steph's secrets.

"I'm glad you're not lying, and hey, I already told you nothing like that's gonna happen, okay? Who knows, maybe on a whim you decided to pick your nose, and in that instant, it changed the future so you end up winning the lottery next week and we can go live happily ever after with lots of money and never have to work again. I mean, its either that future, or you go on a killing spree.. Take your pick at which is more probable for you.." he said with a smile. He knew it in his bones that she couldn't kill people. She was Steph! Super almost-innocent Stephanie Barker! It was a future that just wasn't meant to be.

"Hmm... I may have to steal those and see for myself then! Nothing like a chibi-Steph running around on Christmas mornings screaming about N64s or ponies, or whatever it is you people wish for on Christmas," he said with a laugh.

Gulliver had a bizarre way of trying to make her feel better, if that's what he was doing. Either you end up happy oooor, yeah, I guess you could still go on that whole killing spree thing. Sure, she was pretty sure he was trying to make a point with the whole 'you won't go there' aspect, but it made her feel a bit queasy at the notion that it was, in fact, still possible, and she quickly reached for another cookie. "I just... don't understand what could have happened," she said quietly. "I went to Yale and then two months later I was dropping out and killing people. Did something happen there? Did I find out about something here? Why did I go after my Aunt Beth first? It just..." She sighed. "I don't understand."

She rolled her eyes. "Too bad. You don't get to see them," she replied matter-of-factly. "You only get to see my present, not my past." And she stuck her tongue out at him, before taking a bite of the cookie she'd so recently snatched up.

"You're still going to Yale, young lady. No dilly-dallying. If someone pisses you off there or hurts you, just tell your brother, he'll do the killing spree instead, I promise." Gully gave Steph a little nudge along with a broad smile before shoving an entire cookie into his mouth and munching happily away. Sure, he had weird ways of making people happy, but the kid was usually right in his ways and people usually did tend to feel better after talking with him, or, at least they'd end up laughing for whatever reason.

"Hm. We'll see about that. I'll just ask a favor of Cait when you're not around and nab one, pop some popcorn, and watch some classic True Hollywood Stories: The Scandal of Stephanie Barker. It'll be great."

Digging into his backpack, Gully retrieved a half-eaten box of ho-hos that he'd stolen from the pantry back home. One package was taken out so that he could merrily bite away, careful to nibble off the chocolate coating precisely before licking away at the cream filling, THEN eating the cake part. Hey, its the ONLY way to eat those things.

Stephanie laughed softly, before moving to snuggle back up against him as she had been doing previously. "What, you mean my big, tough boyfriend won't come up there and stand up for me?" she asked, grinning broadly. He did have a point about Vincent, really. He was a protective older brother, who blanched at the thought of her going out of state for school.

"Ah, but your plan is flawed!" she announced dramatically. "The tapes are no longer in my possession!" She smirked proudly up at him. "And since you don't know where my brother lives, you are doomed to a life free of my scandals. Tragic, I know."

She watched him pick apart the ho-ho, and let out a small giggle. "Think you got it all?"
