Who: Gully and Vincent Barker
What: Doing the right thing.
When: Sometime today
Where: Vince's place of employment.
Rating: Hopefully G O_O

He knew he wanted to maintain some level of dignity and respect, not only of himself, but of the person closest to the girl he like liked. Whatever had gone down a few night ago when they had been hanging out, was.. hm.. informal. Sure, he had a blast, as always when hanging out with Stephanie, but, he wanted to do the right thing. Had her father been around in her life, he'd definitely be the go-to guy, but right now, it was Vincent. He had to discretely ask in weird ways when Vince usually worked, because.. well, it wasn't that he didn't want Steph to know, he just figure this was between guys.

Remember how he had 'dressed up'.. slightly, the night that he and Steph had hung out? Well.. he sort of did it again. The same black polo was about as dressed up as Gulliver could honestly get, and instead of wearing his flamboyantly purple hoodie, he opted for a less warm denim jacket that had certainly seen its years. Unfortunately, Vincent better like Chuck Taylors, because that's all Gully owned when it came to shoes. And his usually unruly hair? Well... that was still unruly. There really isn't much you can do when you had a strange blend of curly/wavy hair. He had showered (always a bonus!), and put on some spray stuff.. but not too much, because he hated the smell of it, but he was really trying to score some bonus points. He didn't want to end up on Vincent's 'hit list' like Logan.

The trouble though, first came in finding a decent spot to lock up a bike at an autoshop. There really wasn't anywhere, so he risked bringing it off to the side of the building and hoped that it would remain there when he was done. Going into the shop, Gully took the time to ask around a bit as to the whereabouts of Vince. Once being directed correctly, Gully headed over to the location, nervous, and noticeably, as all hell. "Um... Vincent Barker?" He asked hesitantly, knowing full well that now was going to be the time his balls would decide to drop and his voice would crack in the midst of words. Any nervous situation always had that outcome for the geek.

Vincent was hovering over an engine, grease smeared on his face, cheeks, arms, mostly around his hands. He was shirtless (of course) because he couldn’t afford to do any more laundry. Lucy would kill him if he tried doing laundry. The last time he did, Sam’s shirt ended up as pink as a blossom. The auto shop was filled with greasy, big, rowdy looking guys. Vince was one of them. Hearing a small voice, he still stayed in his position, still doing some finishing touches, “Hold on a sec” he said. After a minute or two, he finished up with the engine, and then rested his palms on the hood, admiring his work before he wiped off his forehead with his arm and turned around to see a boy. Cocking a brow slightly, he reached for an old rag and started to wipe off his fingers.

He stared at the boy for a couple of seconds, not really in the friendliest type. He seemed a bit suspicious, despite his innocent attire. But then again, Vince thought everyone looked suspicious. His hand went to the top of the hood pushing it down, eyes still locked on him, “How you know my name, kid?” he asked, the brow still arched. Vince didn’t look friendly at all. Standing a little more than six feet, with grease all over him, he looked like a modern day pirate. A hot one

Gully had no problem waiting. He was good at waiting. Most of his life was spent waiting for whatever; so he stood there, opting to lean against whatever was closest for the time being. Eyes took the opportunity to really gather in his surroundings. He felt the nervous urge to his his power to just make the place seem empty, no other large, burly, scary men to deal with. Though, in his defense, Gully was no boy.. he just.. was slow in development.. Apparently real slow... Because when Vince stood up.. it was like David and Goliath. Gully had to cant his head up to stare at Vince.. being only 5'4" or something barely close to that.

"Uh.. I know lots about you, dude. Though, not in a creepy stalker sort of thing." Why hadn't he ever really met Vincent before? Steph told him tons of stuff, stuff he probably shouldn't even known, but he did, and yet, for as long as they were friends, he'd never actually met Vince. "I'm Gulliver. Gully Morris?" He paused a moment, wondering if Steph even mentioned about him to Vince. "You know.. Steph's best? No? Okay.. well... Uh.. I'll just get down to things then.. See.. you're Steph's brother, and like.. Steph and I have known eachother for a while. We went to school and everything.. Oh, yeah, I'm only a year older than her, by the way. Not 6 years." That was an important fact. "And yeah, like I said, we're best friends, and, I guess you already know about what happened with Logan.. but.. Hey, no worries, that's not what I'm here for. Steph told me about it and whatnot.. and oh man, this probably sounds like I'm trying to just make it seem like Steph is easy, which she so isn't. I mean, she could've been a lesbian, your hunch wasn't alone.. and.. yeah.. So. I was wondering.. that despite all that, that, you could find it in the bottom of your superbly protective brotherly heart to let me, a decent guy that doesn't drink, do drugs, have piercings, or tattoos, and can carry a job (stop on by the comic shop if you'd like)-- would let me take her on a date. And nothing too extravagant. She's kinda in this 'just normal' sort of thing right now. And I can do normal. Like.. a movie. with lots of people in it so she won't be alone. And then dinner, because she really likes this Chinese place. And I promise I'll have her home by whatever time you designate, totally up to you, though she'd probably be driving anyways, which is kinda lame on my part..." Ah yes... Rambling. Well.. at least his point and question was in there somewhere.

When he stated his name, and paused to see if Vince had known him, Vince just stood there with an arched brow and shook his head slowly, not speaking because now he was curious about what the boy was saying. As he started talking, he leaned back against the car, his arms crossing along his chest. His brows furrowed a bit hearing his sister’s name. Though, one arched up against hearing that he was only a year older? He looked a bit…younger. When he mentioned about the situation with Logan, he frowned. But felt a bit embarrassed when he then figured out that Steph told him that he thought that she was a lesbian for a moment, “She told you that?-” but he was cut off as the boy kept on talking. That’s when he realized that he just kept on…talking and talking.

When it finally got to the part when Gulliver wanted to take Steph out on a date, he was about to quickly answer ‘no’, but then stopped, letting him finished what he was saying. It was true; he didn’t have any piercing, he had clean cut skin, he didn’t seem like the type to put her on a dangerous motorcycle. When Gulliver finally stopped, it took Vince a while to get back into his head. He looked at the boy and then stood up straight, placing his hands on his sides, “Okay, so let me get this straight” he started, “you, a boy, who probably knows I hurt a lot of guys who wanted to take on my sister, and yet here you are asking for my permission for you to ask her on a date” his voice was half amused and half surprised. Finally, he let out a laugh, “I think I’m a bit flattered”

Dangerous motorcycle?! Gully rode an ancient Huffy mountain bike too-and-from where ever. Waiting with baited breath for Vincent's answer, he felt the urge to take a step back, though withheld. It was one thing to be leaning, and then a very different thing to be standing upright in a dominant position. But Gulliver was a truthful kid, and he knew he had at least done the right thing. Even if he'd gotten a no, he would have taken her out, but his goal was to come here and lay it all out on the table to hopefully diminish any sort of violence that might ensue if the brother of the girl he'd liked forever ever caught them in some form or another.

He was able to breathe a sigh of relief when Vincent started laughing. And it wasn't one of those maniacal laughs either, which he was grateful for. "Look, Vince, 'you mind if I call you Vince? Steph's a great girl. She always has been and always will be," of course, he says that now, not knowing that in 2 years she was to end up a sociopath, "and she talks the world about you. So I came to you today, in honesty and out of respect for you. And really, I mean, Steph and I are best friends, and I've never met you? Dating question aside, its about time that I put a face to her real numero uno."

He listened to Gulliver, surprisingly without causing a rampage with the fact that he wanted to take his sister out. A boy. Wanted. To take his sister out. And he wasn't making a fuss. It was like Christmas all over again. When Gulliver had told him that he game to Vincent out of respect, both eyebrows shot up slightly, really impressed. When he finished, he looked at the kid for a moment. He was a bit proud of himself when he heard that Steph talks about him. His eyes trailed him up and down, and frankly he looked like a nice kid. A really nice kid.

The kid liked to flatter. There was no doubt about that. But it wasn't like Vince was complaining at all. He sighed for a moment, and let his hard rock expression soften a bit. But only a bit, "Okay. You can take her out" he gave in, "as long as she comes back in one piece" he frowned again, and took a step forward, crossing his arms over his chest, "But I swear to God, you do anything to hurt her, and I mean anything, if it was an accident or not, I swear I will make your life a living hell" He death stared him for a moment before pulling back and turned around to the mini fridge grabbing a beer, "Okay, so where are you taking her" he asked, grabbing two and then looked back, "Beer? Kids drink beer, right?"

"Oh awesome! Thanks dude, I promise, she'll come back in one piece. Besides, she's the one that'll be driving, so its her call when to go home too..." The excitedness lasted until Vince took a step forward and did the 'im going to murder you' brotherly thing. Looking up, Gully kept himself from the typical 'gulp' that should have gone on, just nodding instead. He knew he couldn't hurt Steph, and vice versa, the two just didn't work that way. There wasn't a mean bone in his body, and he was pretty sure that wasn't one in Steph's, so it would work out a-ok.

He was about to answer until Vincent decided to hold out a beer for him. If this was a 'trap', it wasn't really a good one. "Rethink that statement, boss. Kids. Beer? Pretty sure they don't mix. Thanks anyways though, enjoy it for me." Haha boy was he going to love to tell Steph that her brother had offered him a beer. It'd be one hell of a conversation starter. "So, how long have you been working with large, testosteronified, shirtless men?" It was a gay man's heaven, that was for sure.
