Who: Stephanie Barker and Gulliver Morris
What: It's not a date
Where: Gulliver's house
When: Sunday evening
Rating: TBD

Although Alena had asked Gulliver about whether or not today was a date, the answer had come back with mixed reviews. No, it wasn't a date, but there had been an awful lot of 'maybe's thrown in that made her take a bit more time getting ready than she might have had the notion never come into her head. With his sweatshirt- washed, despite his protests- folded neatly under her arm, she splashed on a last minute spritz of the purfume he had said smelled nice, before making the chilly drive to his house.

Taking in a deep breath before opening the door, she dashed to his front door, quickly pressing his doorbell as she bounced in place to keep herself warm, arms folded across her chest. She was never going to get used to the cold winters in Bristol. Maybe she should have applied to some southern schools.

Gully had already ordered them a pizza, which was down in his room, and he had been sure to stock the mini fridge down there as well. Hell, he even took the time to try and clean his room up a bit.. which meant.. stuff everything into the closet. There were no dirty clothes on the floor, and though sure, everything else was stuffed under his bed, the room was relatively tidy, though still had that distinctive Gully scent to it. Sorry. He's a guy. Guys leave manly odors in whatever quarters they reside in.

The bed wasn't made, but, meh, he didn't really care about that, since half the time people were sitting or laying on it to watch tv anyways. Which is exactly where these two would be, regardless of 'date night' status, because it was comfortable to stack up pillows, lean bag, and binge eat while watching movies! Although, tonight, the golden globes were on, so they may or may not end up watching that.. Not like Gully was mentally planning this all out or anything... Or.. anything..

Hearing the doorbell, he could hear is dad putzing around upstairs before the man yelled out his name to go get the door. Visitors this late were usually his. He was going to have to start telling people to just use the storm well on the side of the house that lead right into his room. Heading upstairs, he took a moment to briefly run a hand through his hair, making sure he didn't look too much like a dweeb when he finally answered the door. "Dude. Its cold. You should just walk in from now on, you've only been over like.. a billion times." Taking her wrist, he all but dragged her in before closing the door behind her.

Stephanie opened her mouth to greet him, but he was already in action. She was being yanked inside, which she didn't particularly mind seeing as it was miserably cold outside, but it caught her off guard, which was evident by the small squeak of surprise she gave off. "Uh. Well, I don't usually just walk in to people's houses?" She certainly hoped he didn't plan on just walking into hers one day. She could see that ending poorly with Calvin being a protective daddy these days.

"So are we watching a movie or..?" she asked, tucking a strand of blonde hair away behind her ear. It was what they usually did on days such as these: junk food and a movie. They didn't need any fancy plans. After all, the pair of them weren't exactly fancy people.

Psh. He was so going to just waltz in.. if possible. Didn't the apartment have a buzzer sort of thing going anyways? Anywho, Gully led them down to his room/the basement. "Pizza got here before you did," he said with a smile. Hey, he was proud of himself. He didn't have one slice!.. Okay. Maybe he already had ONE but.. at least he hadn't scarfed down half of it!

"Well, you know what I've got," he said, nodding over to his behemoth collection of digital video discs that lined an entire wall of the basement. "Or we can channel surf. Or take a super long nap." He was okay with falling asleep, it usually happened when they watched something boring, or something he wasn't interested in.. like.. chick flicks. "You can pick if you want. I'm game for anything."

"Oh, pizza." Stephanie was certainly in no condition to refuse a free meal. She hadn't eaten in hopes of being full on chips and the like, and having something of actual substance for dinner was a pleasant surprise. As they moved to his room, the smell of pizza overpowered the boy smell enough that she didn't notice it, and she smiled as she realized it looked halfway clean.

"Oh!" She reached into her bag. "I brought your sweatshirt. It's clean." She extended the sweatshirt out to him with a grin. "Thanks for letting me borrow it, by the way. That night would've been pretty miserable without it." There was nothing quite like freezing your ass off in a power outage in the midst of a blizzard.

"Aaanything?" she asked, her bag tossed aside into one of the corners as she moved to examine his DVDs. "You should be careful. I could have decided to bring over Titanic, and then I'd be forcing you to listen to me gush about Leonardo DiCaprio for three hours." Tossing him a smirk, she scanned the movies, before tossing Donnie Darko at him. "But since I'm feeling generous, you can listen to me swoon over Jake Gyllenhaal instead."

"Oh sweet! Thanks!" He said when she handed him the hoodie back. How his missed his unreasonably bright purple hoodie! It was instantly unfolded and quickly tossed on over his black polo (yes! He actually wore a polo! Instead of a grungy, over-worn t-shirt that he normally did... Hey.. it was his little way of trying to 'look nice'). Picking up the dvd, he nodded with approval, though stuck his tongue out at her. "If you picked Titanic, I would throw you under my bed. And you so don't want to go in there. And I'm okay with you gushing about DiCaprio. He grew up to be a very talented actor, and my favorite role of his happens to be Romeo in Baz's Romeo + Juliet, so nyah!"

Moving over to the TV, he flipped it on and started setting up the movie. It would load and he'd push the play button. Previews were a good part of the movie, because it allowed them to get situated with food and drinks and seats, and gave him the chance to flick off the lights for better viewing pleasure. Of course. "Drew Barrymore is a fox in this movie, so I'm equally okay with this."

She resisted the urge to roll her eyes as his polo- which she had actually noticed and appreciated for the brief time it had been on display- was covered up, and he resumed his role as a giant grape as per usual. "I love that movie. Although I can never decide if I think Claire Danes is pretty or not." She shrugged as she snatched a piece of pizza before moving to take up residence on his bed. Young Leo DiCaprio, however, was a fox. A definite fox.

"If you say so. I'm a Jena Malone fan." Her stomach certainly appreciated the pizza, and soon the first piece was gone, replaced by another. She leaned back against his headboard, legs stretched out in front of her, crossed at the ankle. She had the sense to kick of her shoes before doing so, of course.

"Okay, Jena Malone is adorable in everything she's ever played in. I do love her in Saved!. That movie was just overall awesome." Well, it was. The whole cast was great! With the lights off and the previews running, Gully already lacked shoes and hopped onto the bed, pushing open the little fridge off to the side and grabbing a bottled pop for Steph and himself before getting situated. He usually sat close to her, with only inches between them, if only for the view, so that wasn't different.. it just... felt different tonight.

Leaning over, he grabbed himself his second slice of the evening and began gnawing away at it as the movie itself finally started with the wonderful soundtrack that would continue to accompany the fine film.

"Oh, agreed. It's hilarious to see Mandy Moore as a psychobitch. And Culkin came back from the dead to play the handicapped brother! I wonder why he hasn't made more movies..."

Setting the soda aside for later, Stephanie finished off her second piece, noticing his close proximity but not commenting on it. It was, as he said, nothing unusual for them. Sure, they weren't what you would call 'touchy-feely' kinds of people, but they'd never had a problem with being close to each other. But with the conversation they'd had last time, which had somehow spiraled off into him saying he thought she was sexy, though she was still confused on whether or not he had only said it to save himself when she got angry with him about it, things were... different.

She glanced briefly over at him as the first images began to flicker across the screen, before returning her attention to the movie.

"Mandy Moore rocked that film. And yeah! I was so happy to see Culkin back. He actually looked good, and really made the movie even better than it already was. He hasn't done anything big since that, and occasionally showed up in a few episodes of Robot Chicken, but that's it. Poor guy. I actually want more Culkin movies."

He drew quiet once she had, finishing of his piece of pizza and reaching over her for another one before nestling against the pillows once again. He was actually focused on the film for maybe.. oh.. a minute. But then his mind began to wander, is it occasionally did when they were together. He would never act though. He respected Vince to much, and with her thing he Logan? Yeah. He really respected Vincent too much to be the next Logan when it came to Steph. Besides. They were just friends. They'd always been just friends. Girls like Steph were supposed to find guys like Logan, you know, the gorgeous, chiseled type, the ones that could actually grow facial hair. Gully barely had peach fuzz on his chin.

Every so often, he'd glance over to her. He'd eaten his fair share of pizza, and rested both hands into the pockets of his hoodie. She shouldn't have washed it, but, that was okay, because she was sitting next to him. "You smell nice." Hm.. that came out a little more blunt than expected, but hey, at least he noticed she was wearing whatever it was she sprayed on.

Stephanie wasn't as engrossed in the sleepwalking of Jake Gyllenhaal as she usually would have been. She kept getting distracted by the slighest shift in his position. Why was she so acutely aware of him next to her? It wasn't wrong to be considering her friend in such a manner. After all, she'd heard plenty of people say it was best to be friends first, but Gully was her best friend. She told him everything. She wasn't afraid to be a bit... bitchy around him or vent to him because she knew he understood and that it would be forgotten the next day. Would... this, whatever this was, change that?

She was jolted out of that thought process, thankfully, by his blunt statement, and she let out a soft laugh as she looked over at him. "Oh- thanks." It was a gift from her aunt for Christmas a few years ago. Stephanie certainly couldn't afford to by perfume these days. "I just... remembered you said you liked it."

No one could afford to buy perfume these days, what with the economy. But he was glad that she did decide to wear it. "Yeah.. it, uh, smells nice. Good mix for you or whatever you say to perfume-y things." Like he knew how to appropriately term scents.

Eyes were drawn back to the movie, and man could he feel a weird tension in the air, though he didn't know if he was the one just dreaming it up, or if it really was there. He did have a tendency to overreact internally sometimes. Oh crap. If he was nervous though, would it activate his ability? That always seemed to be an awesome trigger. No. Everything was cool. He just needed to calm down... So he reached over for another slice of pizza. Food was calming, or at least gave him a reason to move and breath and cover up the fact that his heart felt like it would rip from his chest in an Alien-esque scene.

Stephanie laughed softly. "I guess I'll keep wearing it then." Steph had always been a bit too concerned with what other people, particularly people of the opposite gender, thought of her. Hearing that a boy, even if it was Gully, liked the way she smelled was... nice. She'd wear it again.

As he looked back to the television, she turned her attention back to the movie as well, opting to take a drink of her soda as her mouth was feeling uncomfortably dry. She had always loved the soundtrack of this film. It was eerie, but relaxing, and she found her posture slackening, her shoulder leaning into Gully's slightly as the movie progressed.

The soundtrack was phenomenal. And yes, Gully used it to fall asleep on many nights during high school, so hearing some of it now? Well, it just stirred up sleepy thoughts in his head. He felt her shoulder against his own, and before long, he had his head tilted to rest against her shoulder, his eyes halfway closed. It was a partially state of falling asleep combined with the absolute feeling of comfort. The two combined meant he was going to konk out soon enough, but he wanted to stay up as long as possible, because being this close? This was awesome.

"What's your favorite scene?" he asked softly, his voice barely above a whisper, though it still had that comical 'i-can't-really-whisper' volume to it. It was a dumb question, but a way to keep himself awake.

Stephanie had always felt comfortable around Gulliver, even when she had only just met him. He was goofy, honest, and accepting, so it was no surprise that- even with the possibility of this being more than a friendly get together as per usual- she was not in the least bit uncomfortable with him being so close to her, even if she was more aware of it.

"Um... I think either the scene where he first sees those bubble things come out of his chest because... I don't know, it's trippy or something," she laughed, "Or the scene where they do their presentation on those glasses because it's sweet. What's yours?"

"I actually didn't like the bubble thing. The special effect just.. wasn't what I envisioned I guess? And that's an easy one. The 'fuckass' scene. Especially when the little girl goes 'whats' a fuckass' and the dad busts up laughing. I'd so do that if my kid asked that, haha," hey, it was a good scene!

Gully adjusted himself slightly, shifting a bit closer to her and using her more as a pillow now than just her shoulder and the actual pillows. The movie kept going, and they just seemed to, well, at least ignore some of the tension that could be felt. He wanted to kiss her. He figured thats what the tension was, but he just didn't know when the right time would be, or, if there even WAS a right time.

"Well, I mean, the whole idea of it, though," she replied. "That there's like, this path that we're all following. And the whole concept of free will versus fate. It's a lot in that one little scene, really." She smirked at his favorite. "That is a funny scene, though, I agree." Leave it to Gully to pick the scene least relevant to the movie.

Stephanie glanced down at him as he shifted. "You know, usually the girl leans on the guy," she said with a soft chuckle. "Just saying."

"Which is such a double standard. I mean, really, think about it. Girls ALWAYS get to lean on their strong man. But do you know what girls have to naturally offer us guys? Pillows. Natural pillows. Soft, awesome, natural pillows, Stephanie. Now shhh, I'm going to fall asleep here because I'm playing the girl tonight," he said with a giggle. Although he was jesting about falling asleep, and the girl thing, it IS so true about what he said.

This was nice though. It was fun, it finally got back to being lighthearted instead of awkward tension. It was just how he liked it. And just how she wanted it: Normal.
