Who: THE BARKERS
What: Steph has to tell him something..
When: Afternoon
Where: Steph’s place

After getting off the computer with Steph, he quickly got up and shut it off. Whatever she was supposed to tell him, he had a gut feeling that he wasn’t going to like it. He walked out of his room, and grabbed one clean shirt from the good pile of shirts in his room. Despite the fact that you could now see the floor in his room, that didn’t stop him from piling his clean laundry on his bed instead of folding it up and putting it in a drawer like a normal person would do. Shoving his shoes on, he grabbed his keys off of the counter and walked straight to his car, starting it up, and hastily drove to Steph’s place. Over and over he kept telling himself not to worry, not to overreact on this because it wouldn’t help the situation. At the stop light, his fingers drummed over his wheel, biting his lip.

Keep calm.

Pulling up into the driveway of her place, he shut off the engine, but stayed in the seat for a couple of minutes making sure his breathing was even. His eyes flickered to his rearview mirror, seeing that he had a bit of sweat on his forehead. The top of his wrist wiped it off quickly and sighed, “I don’t even know what she’s going to tell me” he said to himself. Standing up and taking it like man, he walked over and knocked on the door, stepping back and leaned on the railing on the side casually. At least he looked like he wasn’t worrying anymore. For now.

Stephanie had felt slightly ill after asking Vince to stop by. At least Cait and Calvin were both off at work so she wouldn't have to worry about the shouting scaring them. Then again, maybe it would have been nice to have the help around in the event that Vince went a bit psychotic on her. Maybe she should raise his blood alcohol content levels before breaking the news. Maybe it would help calm him some. Then again, he might just turn into an angry, drunk older brother, which was probably even worse.

Sighing, Stephanie poured herself a glass of water, changing it to juice before drinking it. She was halfway through her drink, trying to reassure herself that this wasn't going to be as epic as she knew in her heart it would be, when she heard the knock at the door. Taking in a deep breath, she willed herself to her feet to pull open the door. "Hey. You got here quick." Which was for the best, really. The sooner she got this over with, the better. It was hell fretting over how she was going to tell him, and really, he was the last one who needed telling. "Come in." She moved aside, shutting the door behind him.

He let out a low, almost humorless chuckle, "Yeah, but what else can you ask from a concerned, scary older brother?" he said before walking into the place. One arm wrapped around her shoulders, giving her a quick tight squeeze before turning to sit on the arm of the couch, "So, what's up? What did you need to tell me?" he was almost afraid to ask. One leg bent upwards so he could rest his arm on his knee. It started shaking a bit, anxious on what the news was, but he was sure that it was going to be fine, right? At least he hoped so. He didn't want to go berserk on her.

His other hand scratched the back of his neck, "Steph, should I be worried?" he asked. Maybe it wasn't any bad news. Maybe he was just being silly and stupid. Maybe there was nothing wrong. But maybe there was.

Stephanie let out a slightly nervous laugh at his description of himself. Yeah, concerned, scary older brotehr. That was what she was afraid of. Scary and concerned didn't generally mix well together. Lord, she hoped he didn't kill Logan. Maybe she could come up with a clever way to leave his name out of things. Vince would demand to know, but he couldn't really make her tell, right?

Ugh, but he'd find out somehow. He always found everything out. It was annoying how he managed that. "Worried? No. Will you... be upset? Probably." Before giving him time to comment, she sat down on the edge of one of the arm chairs. Yes, best not to be sitting right next to him.

"Um. So, you remember that talk we had the other day?"

Upset? Vince rarely got mad. Annoyed, yes, but upset? Vince didn’t like raising his voice, which is why he never did. But with what she was saying, he couldn’t help but get anxious. His palms went sweaty and his leg started shaking a bit faster. When she asked if he remembered what they talked about, he frowned slightly, “Steph, you know my memory isn’t good…I’m getting old” he chuckled nervously. His lips pursed trying to remember what they had talked about a few days ago. He was too scared, too worried about trying to remember anything. But he had to try. He was the big brother, and he was supposed to have all the answers here, right? His hand went to scratch the back of his neck again and sighed.

But then paused, starting to remember what they were talking about before. About Aunt Beth forcing him to give her the talk, about asking if she was still a virgin. Then he stood stock still, and tilted his head slightly confused. Probably not the type of reaction that she thought she was getting out of him. His head tilted to the other side, and just stared at her with a confused expression. Why would he be mad at her for that? Was he that scary? But he had to ask before he’d say anything else,

“Steph, are you gay?”

"What?! No!" she answered, clearly offended- and also caught off guard. Gay?! He thought she was into girls? Did she give off the lesbian vibe? Sure, she was sporty, but she played volleyball! Volleyball was girly! Jesus, it hadn't been that long since she'd dated someone!

"I slept with someone!" she exclaimed angrily. "God, Vince! I try to tell you I'm not a virgin and you accuse me of being a lesbian!"

He nearly fell off the arm of the chair when she roared at him and had to use the side table for support so he would fall from his spot, “Okay, okay! Geez, it was just a questi-” but then stopped still, hearing her other statement. His heartbeat started to rise quicker by the second and both eyes widened, “You what?” he asked almost on the verge of raising his voice, “You slept with someone? But you said that you were a virgin!” Fuck, how the hell did he not see that coming? Was he that stupid? Probably. Vince wasn’t the brightest person when it came to this kind of stuff.

His eyes closed and focused on keeping his breathing even. His hand ran over his face and tried to hit this situation properly, “Okay, okay” he finally said and took a deep breath, “I-uh…umm, are you okay? Did you use…erm….” His arms waved slightly around awkwardly, “…y’know…protection?” he bit his lip, and took another deep breath, “I…well… um… God I need a drink” he exhaled. This was too much. Being gay was so much better than hearing this.

Stephanie winced at his reaction, surprised that he hadn't gone off on the rampage she'd expected, though she knew that the storm wasn't over just yet. She hadn't told him who she'd slept with, and she knew that wasn't going to be pretty, especially when she explained that it wasn't because either one of them had romantic feelings toward each other.

"Here." She slid her juice toward him, not bothering to watch the color disappear.

"Yes... we used protection. Yes, I'm fine. It happened... a while ago. After our talk, I mean, but..." She shifted uncomfortably. "Sorry?"

He took the cup and cocked a brow seeing the orange colour change. Sometimes he forgot the girl had powers. Quickly he downed the drink and dropped down on the couch, arching his head back and closing his eyes taking it all in. It was a bit of a relief knowing that she had used protection. He didn’t want to know anything else, but there was still that curiosity lying inside of him that he just had to ask, “With who?” fuck, it better not be anyone he knew. He’d beat the living shit out of them, no matter how semi-calm he was acting right now.

He knew that she wouldn’t tell him off the bat. It was just a gut feeling. His hand took her wrist and gently pulled her so that she was sitting next to him and turned to face her, setting the cup on the side table. Both eyebrows rose slightly, giving her a gentle warning look, “And be honest”

Oh shit. She was hoping his embarassment with having asked if she was a lesbian would have been enough to distract him from the fact that she had actually slept with someone. Telling him it was Sam's younger brother was not going to go over well, and the hesitance and perhaps slightly nauseous look that rested on her features was proof of that.

Forced to look him in the face, she grimaced as she offered weakly, "Logan Riddick?"

The soft smile didn't fade away, but he strained to keep it on. It was a fake smile now, and both brows creased upward, "L-Logan Riddick, huh?" he asked, clearing his thraot. He could feel his fists form, but bit his lip and gritted his teeth making a bad attempt to keep calm, "O-Oh...charming kid" his face looked like he was straining badly to keep that smile. But failed and released the twisted smile and frowned, running both hands over his face.

"Jesus Steph, Logan Riddick? You're ex?!" This was far from what he was expecting. Logan looked like a good kid and all, and he so didn't think Logan was...the type. Not like he could really judge him, but still. "Do you know what it's going to be like in the house now? Do you know how hard it will be not to attack him? He's my best friend's brother, Steph. You could've at least slept with someone that I'm allowed to kill!"

Stephanie sighed as she watched him show a pretty darn amazing amount of restraint, especially for him. She had expected much, much worse. Apparently, she expected all sorts of people to react much worse than they actually did: Jude, Gulliver, and now Vincent. The first two seemed not to be concerned in the slighest, actually, now that she thought about it.

"He's my friend, Vince, and for what it's worth, he was very considerate, and he really didn't pressure me at all." Really, that was more of Dylan Hayes' doing, but she'd keep that bit to herself. Vince would probably have a heart attack. "I'm sorry you're living with him, V, but it's not like it's going to be a constant. I mean, it was a one-time thing. He's probably been feeling really awkward around you since it happened, really."
