Who: Dietre and Robin.
What: Thanksgiving for two.
Where: Robin's apartment.
When: Thanksgiving!
Rated: ??? Depends on how much booze D drinks, ha!

Why he was so nervous about going next door when he had been sharing a bed with the man for the past few nights was a mystery. Sleep was just..sleeping, very simple, no real conversation, but this was spending time together doing things and having dinner. And it was a holiday, one Americans made kind of a big deal about, but in the past it tended to slip by Dietre's radar. Maybe if Robin hadn't invited him so long ago he wouldn't have had all this time to work himself up over it. It would have been better if Robin had asked him last night instead.

He had no idea what time would be best to show up, he had little experience with cooking, and so he wasn't sure how long it would take. Before noon, or after noon? Hm...Dietre wasted a chunk of his morning fretting, no surprise there. He had to calm himself with a piano break. Pachelbel's Canon in D, a piece that was more buoyant than the usual music Dietre played. Despite his nervousness, he was in a good mood, a rather rare occurrence.

Finally he got his courage up, and a moment later he was knocking on Robin's door. Still feeling guilty over not really contributing to the meal, Dietre attempted to make up for it in his attire. He was likely way too over dressed, but he had wanted to look nice. He doubted he'd have many occasions to dress up anymore, now that he was on his own. A pale blue dress shirt, dark coal pants, a tie, and a waist coat. Very nice, rather too formal, and hardly the sort of thing a person should wear if they were going to be doing some cooking. Oh well?

Robin had been cooking much of the morning. It was likely you could smell it all down the hall. The turkey in the oven, overflowing with stuffing, big enough to feed he and Deitre for the month probably. Then there was potatoes he had boiling away. Then green beans that needed to be washed and cooked. Pie that a woman he worked with had baked him. Ice cream to go with it. Crackers and crab dip to snack on in the mean time. If they both didn't gain ten pounds tonight something was seriously wrong.

Of course, with all this cooking, getting dressed properly hadn't been a very high priority. Which made Dietre even more overdressed when compared to Robin, answering the door barefooted, in a pair of pajama pants and a wife-beater.

"Hey! Come in." He pulled open the door, hugging D briefly, and heading back towards the kitchen. Come to think of it. He'd been sharing a bed with the younger male the past few nights, he was closer to D already then he was to most of the people he'd dated...Why didn't the other have a key to his apartment yet? Not that Robin locked the door while he was home anyways but still.

"Turkey will be ready soon, and you can help me mash the potatoes when they're -- OH! TOUCHDOWN!" Robin had caught sight of the football game out of the corner of his eye, and was obviously pretty into it.

The scents filling the hall outside the door were enough to start his stomach rumbling. In his determination to please his friend, Dietre had gone without breakfast, not eating a single thing since last night, fully intending to do justice to Robin's cooking. It was an unanticipated torture for it to smell so good.

When the door opened, Dietre's first reaction, as it always is whenever he saw Robin, was a flash of color in his cheeks and an elusive smile moving across his lips. Since the night Robin first slept over, Dietre's attachment to, and affection for the man had grown exponentially. He really couldn't help it, he was addicted to the feeling of being wanted, to the honestly pleased smile Robin gave him each time they met.

His second reaction, after noticing those bare feet and pajama pants, was to bite his lip and begin to ask if he had come too early. Before he could get the words out, he was caught in a hug, thus distracted, he instantly forgot about his needless apology. The two of them had seen enough of each other's p.js anyway, and seeing how Robin was oblivious, why worry?

He blinked at his neighbor's football induced cheering. Sports were just not D's thing. The two of them were so different! While Robin's howled at the television, Dietre said 'hello' to the man's dogs, his own materializing at the sight of them. By this point, the two real dogs were probably used to the appearance of the black phantom.

"The food smells good.." He glanced over to the kitchen, brows raised. "Are we really going to eat all of that?"

Robin laughed and offered D an apologetic smile when he noticed the other simply watching him cheer about the game. No, he supposed Dietre didn't look like the football type. So instead he switched the channel over to the Macy's Thanksgiving parade, while the younger male stood among the three dogs.

"Not tonight, but it's tradition -- I've always made thanksgiving dinner for an army. Then eat leftovers for a week or so. We'll have plenty left over to snack on for a while." He headed back to the kitchen, turning the heat down on the green beans he had steaming and the boiled potatoes.

"So there is crackers and crab dip too, if you want to snack on them. The turkey still has a little while left to go. Here -- let me take your coat. Relax." He liked D, but the kid acted way to mature sometimes, and Robin was doing his best to pull him out of his shell, get him to be a little less reserved.

"I'll try..." That hint of a smile. "But you know I'm not good at it."

It wasn't so much a coat as it was a part of the outfit, but Dietre wasn't about to protest so he handed it over anyway. When the dogs seemed satisfied with their sniffing and greeting, the boy let himself be lured toward the kitchen table and its spread. He wasn't quite sure what crab dip was, so he played it safe and nibble at a plain cracker.

Should be bring up the things he had discussed with Gabe? Mention that a murderer was attempting to woo him? Erm..no, no, surely there were better things to talk about.

"Uhm..I named the dog the other day." Yes, the thing that stuck to his side like a shadow now had a name. Speaking of, it was currently flickering in and out of existence, occasionally wandering away from D, only to suddenly reappear next to him again. Sometimes it was formless, sometimes a solid black cut out, sometimes so real you were tempted to pet it. It was a strange thing, but so is a mind, and a mind can't always be expected to be in focus.

"We're still working on that." Dietre was a little stiff. Like he said, not great at just relaxing, but the younger was getting better at it. Probably had something to do with them sharing a bed the past few nights. It was hard to be too reserved with someone you're sleeping with.

"Oh cool. What'd you name him?" Robin wasn't sure the dog was a him. Technically it wasn't even real, but him sounded better then it. His own dogs were used to the shadow of a pet, they didn't growl or sniff at it, just sort of accepted the fake dog's presence.

Robin motioned for D to follow into the kitchen, straining out the boiled potatoes, and putting them back into the pot. He handed Dietre something to mash them with while he added milk and butter to it.

He couldn't wait to eat. It all smelled so good. Sure it was only like three o'clock, but you always eat early on thanksgiving. Then snack on left overs, turkey sandwiches the rest of the night.

"Klavier. ...It means piano." He shrugged slightly as he was handed the potato masher. Odd how talking about super human powers didn't seem as insane anymore, it still didn't feel quite right...but it was easier than before.

"I wasn't given the time to be creative, I was at the library and a woman noticed him." So it was a 'him'.

"..I didn't realize I had been projecting it. I'm going to have to work on paying attention..." Honestly, at this point, it was actually harder to have to not think about the dog, it was an effort to keep from accidentally projecting it.

As he spoke, the boy began to mash the potatoes. Of course, Dietre is Dietre, so he was quite thorough, there would be no lumps in these mashed potatoes, that's for sure. Another cracker was caught up to snack on, he couldn't bare to be around all this food and not eat anything.

"...I'd like to see how well I'd be at other animals, but I doubt I'd do them realistically enough...uhm...I thought perhaps I'd go to your zoo some time.."

"Fitting." He chuckled softly. Probably couldn't have picked a better name for the dog, considering how much D loved his piano.

"You'll get the hang of it. Besides. It's not that bad. At least you don't black out places. People are less likely to question a strange looking dog then they are electrical failure everywhere you go." He was getting better at it, but the day wasn't complete if a light didn't burst around him somewhere. It was nice though, the zoo didn't have too much electrical equipment around the animals so he was usually safe there.

"That'd be fun. I could keep you in after hours so no one would notice you creating the extra animal here or there. In the mean time, you could start small, just different types of dog. I bet Max would have fun with a twin." Robin suggested. Practice, just little bits at a time, that's how you got better at anything, why not their powers included?

Robin's chuckle brought out another one of those shy smiles. He did think it was kind of amusing that he had named his dog 'piano'. At least 'Klavier' sounded like a real name. There was something serious and imposing about the sound of it, in D's opinion, it really did fit with the large black 'dog'.

"Causing black outs could be useful some day. You know...you've never shown me your power. I think its only fair that you do. But...not until the turkey is done." Was that D trying to be funny? It was, but his deadpan sense of humor often when unseen. Though Robin probably knew him well enough now to notice it.

"Hm.." Practice with other dogs first? That might work. D found inanimate objects to be very easy, but living things took far more care and, well, thought. He craned his head, looking down across the room at Max, Klavier appeared beside the living dog, then went blurry about the edges, its outline shifting to match Max. It wasn't that much of a change, German Shephards looked rather wolfish to begin with. At first it remained black, but it wasn't long before color seeped in, and voila! Max had a twin.

He laughed again at the little joke. "Yeah. I'll show you after dinner or something." It hadn't occurred to him that Dietre hadn't seen him actually use his 'ability.' Not that it was generally something he flaunted anyways. Well, there was that one time -

Come to think of it, he hadn't told D about that yet. "You know I met someone who could do the same thing. She was out in the park, middle of the night practicing. How cool is that?" He still thought it was pretty neat that he wasn't the only electrical freak. He hadn't heard from Katie since then, but he wasn't in any rush.

Glancing down, he noticed Max - twin or not, the puppy's energy was unmistakable - barking and all but dancing around the other dog. "What'd I tell ya? A little practice..." He beamed and clapped D on the back gently. "You'll be a pro in no time."

Dinner had been exceptionally good (D had been living off of the Olive Garden, and so, he was getting rather sick of Italian), and he had eaten more than he probably had ever eaten in his life before. Though Dietre was quiet, dinner was passed with the usual chit-chat, what was going on with the both of them at work, books they have been reading, things they might do together, like planning for the zoo. A few beers kept the boy relaxed through it all, and he was in quite the good mood. All the worrisome things going on in his life seemed faded and he was feeling very content with how things were. This dinner together helped his confidence, Robin always made him feel welcome and wanted.

Once the two of them couldn't fit another bite into their stomachs, it was time for cleaning up. Dietre offered to do it all, of course, but in the end, some how, it was left half done, with the two of them sitting on the couch watching television.

Dietre had behaved the way he always did around alcohol, and had more beer than he probably should have. He claimed, in that serious-but-joking way of his, that he needed to if he was going to sit through the parade. It they only showed the floats, that'd be alright, but he found the hosts and their banter rather unpleasant. The beer had also made him more bold than he would normally have been, even if he wasn't really aware of it. He had sat as close as he could to Robin, so that he was actually leaning against the man quite a bit.

"...I can't help but be distracted by thinking of what a waste of flowers this parade is.."

Robin thought it all went rather well for his first family-free thanksgiving dinner. He didn't burn anything, there were plenty of left overs, and he hadn't spent it alone at least. Dietre wasn't as loud as his family, but they'd talked and joked a little over dinner.

As for cleaning, there was no way Robin would let the other male clean everything. He'd argued the fact, and eventually they settled with piling everything next to the sink and just putting the food away. Which worked for him. Dishes could wait 'till later.

Then there was the beer. He'd been drinking since he was twelve and this 'lite' stuff that he'd had in the fridge probably wouldn't even get him buzzed unless he had half a dozen of them. D, on the other hand, was a terrible excuse for a german. He already had the flushed look to his cheeks. Not that he said anything about it, but he would cut the boy off after this last beer though. In the mean time one arm rose to fall around Dietre's shoulders, as it had started to fall asleep from D leaning on him. He figured D would be more comfortable anyways resting against his chest.

"Probably, but I bet they grow flowers especially for this." He clicked through the t.v. menu. "Cartoons or The Santa Clause?" It was a little early for christmas movies, but they always started on thanksgiving. Tim Allen was pretty funny in the Santa Clause too.

Dietre tried to quell the thrill he felt when Robin put an arm around his shoulders. He hadn't even been thinking about how close they had been sitting until now, drunk enough to honestly have been watching the parade. Dietre immediately fell into that half panicked questioning state of mind he often found himself in during this past week since they started sharing a bed. This wasn't a typical thing, right? Did it mean something? Was he missing something? Or was Robin just that much of a nice guy that he'd sleep in a bed with another man, put his arm around him, just to make him feel better? Just because he was friendly?

He had been asked a question, he hadn't realized until after the awkward silence.

"Uh...uhm.." He had for force himself to focus. Dietre wasn't too pleased with either of his choices, brow furrowed as he mulled over which would be less painful to sit through.

"Cartoons. ...I don't like the American Father Christmas." There was a pause, the boy still trying to distract himself from thinking about the arm around him. Even so, he couldn't help but lean more of his weight into Robin, fully resting against him now.

"...In Germany, instead of a lump of coal for being bad, you are attacked by a demon called the Krampus. He beats you with sticks." Wow. Dietre really was drunk.

He really was a nice guy. There was no doubting that, but it was clearly a little more then that where Dietre was concerned. He liked the younger male. It's not like he went around sleeping with just anyone.

"Animal planet?" He suggested, realizing his companion didn't seem all to thrilled with either of the other two choices. He had to like animal planet though right, or the discovery channel at least if that didn't work. Honestly it didn't matter all that much what was on the television. He was only half paying attention anyways.

"Why not?" How anyone could dislike the jolly Santa figure was beyond him.

"Seriously? And you don't like Santa? I would think coal is better then being beaten with sticks." That sounded like a creepy thing to tell children around Christmas. No more creepy then an old man who watches you while your asleep, he supposed, but whatever.

Oh, yes. Animal Planet." Not having a television of his own made him forget that there were actually a few good channels out there. Lately he had been interested in anything that had to do with animals, photos, television, or films, anything where he could observe their movements and fix their forms in his memory.

"...I'm not sure. He's too commercial? Too cleaned up. In Europe, Saint Nicholas is more respectable, I think. " And about twenty times more pagan looking. Besides, wasn't the look of Santa in America created by the Coca Cola company? He was pretty sure it was.

"Seriously." Dietre began to sound a little amused now that he was talking about the Krampus.

"Between the two, which do you think would be a better inspiration for a child to be good? A lump of coal? Or the threat of being whipped by a hairy black demon? I really think Americans should consider the idea, it might do some good." That was a bit more of D's vague teasing/joking, though a little more obvious for once.

Afterward Dietre's mind began to wander back to other things, like ...Robin, and Robin, and Robin. Did the man know he liked him? Why doesn't he ever say anything? Were this little things supposed to be enough for D to know? It was all so frustrating. He just wanted to know.

Instilled with three and a half beers of bravery, Dietre took some clumsy steps to find out.

"...A boy at work told me I was beautiful." His muscles tensed, waiting for some sort of response out of Robin as he continued in a rambling sort of way.

"He said he thought he might like me." A quick pause. "He was lying, though."

Animal Planet it was then. He flicked the channel over to some show about arctic animals - penguins, polar bears, and the like. He only half paid attention though.

"I guess. I think I'd like the guy supposedly sneaking around my house to leave gifts to be clean though. If anyone has to be breaking and entering, wouldn't you prefer a jolly old guy who just wants to leave presents and maybe get some cookies and milk in return?"

He laughed and shrugged slightly. "Yeah, but when the kids are bad, who gets to dress up an whip them?" It was a silly argument, defending the merits of imaginary figures, but it was amusing all the same.

Amusing until Dietre tensed up and totally jumped subjects. He thought it was awfully random, and for a moment he wasn't sure what to say. Robin liked blokes and all, but the idea of assuring another male that he was, in fact, beautiful was still weird even for him. "How do you know he was lying?" No questions on if the other was bi or gay, because the subject alone made that pretty clear, he figured.

Dietre was aware of how awkward his switching of subjects was, enough to be embarrassed and make an attempt to juggle both at the same time. He switched back to the Krampus, for it was a temptingly safe territory.

"No, no, Saint Nicholas still comes, he brings the Krampus with him. They go together. Santa rewards you for the good things, and the Krampus punishes you for the bad." This was just an absolutely ridiculous thing to be talking about, wasn't it?

"Well...people do dress as the Krampus. There are parades..uhm.." He had never actually been to one, but saw one out a window of a hotel once. It was really frightening.

Back to the serious discussion. He had gotten himself into this mess, he was going to have to talk his way through it. Thank God he was drunk. And it wasn't reassurance of his beauty that D was looking for.

"Uhm...Because we really haven't spoken since..." And from their last conversation, it wasn't likely they would again. Maybe. Dylan was extremely hard to predict.

He cleared his throat, and ended up blurting out something he would have gladly like to rip out his tongue for saying.

"Maybe because I was a bad kisser."

"Oh. So like an evil elf with whipping sticks not coal. Got it." He still thought it was creepy, and that commercialized or not Coca-Cola-Santa was much better. Dressing up like a creepy demon sounded more like a Halloween thing too. To each his own though, right?

"I'm sure it wasn't 'cause you were a bad kisser." Robin chuckled slightly. It was cute how D was worried about being a bad kisser, and how open he was about things when he'd had to much to drink. Normally he'd never mention any of this.

"Do you like him?" His smile faded slightly at the question, rather hoping the answer was no. Of course, why bring it up if it hadn't upset him or something. Robin hadn't considered D was trying to get at him, and how he felt. He was a little dense like that sometimes. If you wanted anything relationship wise out of him it was always best to be blunt.

"And horns, he has horns.." It was no wonder Dietre was such a grim boy, what with his section of Europe's scary traditions and all. Not that it matters what he prefers anyway, D had never been a fan of Christmas. All that talk about love and joy and family...it was like a slap in the face and a stab to the heart every time. How could he think fondly on a holiday that was about everything he didn't have?

Robin's chuckle was a good sign, and the sound of it eased his anxiousness just a little. The man had no problem with homosexuality if he was able to laugh so good naturedly about it. Dietre managed a shrug, a silent gesture that suggested he didn't believe Robin about that one. He was sure he was a horrible kisser, he hadn't known what to do, and so he had basically just sat there, how could that be enjoyable?

"Oh, no...It's Dylan, and, as you know, I've since found out he's not a decent person at all.."

He went quiet again, biting at the fullness of his lower lip, and it seemed he might actually be shaking just a little.

"...I like some one else.."

"Doesn't seem to fit the happy christmas spirit." It was an interesting note about the difference in culture, if one were curious about that sort of thing. He just thought it was a little twisted to threaten kids with whipping on christmas.

"Dylan." He repeated. Robin had saw the name a few times on the forums, rarely associated with anything good. Not that he paid much mind to the forums. He was an old man as far as the internet was concerned. Robin could work it, but preferred good old pen and paper any day.

"Oh really?" The older smiled, holding D a little tighter once he started shaking. "Is he handsome? Incredibly sweet? Maybe a little too friendly?" Robin hoped it was him that Dietre was referring to, other wise he was going to be extremely embarrassed in a moment. It seemed like a reasonable guess though, didn't it?

His chest was suddenly feeling rather tight, and Dietre wished that he hadn't said anything, scared to death that he had possibly just ruined the only friendship he ever had. What if Robin didn't like him like that? What everything changed? He could imagine a horrible future where Robin began to avoid him, pushing him away because he thought he was some clingy freak or something...

He turned his head, furtive peek at Robin's face when the man began to speak. At first his expression was so worried, sad and fearful, that it was a little heart breaking. But once what Robin was getting at sunk in (that smile helped), color began to seep its way in, and Dietre looked away, his face absolutely burning.

"..Possibly.." It was the softest whisper.

He exhaled as if he had been holding his breath for some time, and now he was trembling for quite a different reason. Some strength returning to his voice.

"...He's not too modest, I've just found out."

"Modest." He repeated with amusement in his tone. Oh, D had no idea. His comments were one thing. He was half joking, but he knew his strengths and weaknesses all the same. There was no point in being critical about his looks, he'd never had complaints on that front. The others were true too. Talk of modesty just made him think about Rue for a moment, of the painting she'd done of him. Robin had been meaning to ask Dietre if he wanted to go to the gallery with him, but now was hardly the time.

"I'm sure he just knows himself pretty well is all."

The younger was still shaking, breathing funny - like holding his breath. All the nervous little stuff. It was funny, cute.

"Why haven't you told him then?" He felt a little silly continuing with the questions, knowing very well now that it was him that D liked. Still, with the other male still shaking and clearly nervous, he figured it'd be best not to rush anything.

This whole talking about Robin while pretending not to be talking about Robin thing was a little strange, but some how helpful. He was still stuck in this horrible limbo of not knowing how the other man was really taking this. The excitement over the possibility that there could be something between them, and the dread of wondering if he had just ruined everything, were threatening to tear him in two.

"..I don't know." The phrase seemed be to Dietre's automatic response whenever he was asked about his feelings. But of course, in this situation, it wasn't going to cut it. There was the usual awkward silence, and then the boy stumbled forward in an attempt to explain himself.

"Its just..." He stared down at his hands, wringing them endlessly in his lap.

"I'm afraid..that if he doesn't feel the same way I do, things will change..." A shaky sigh.

"We won't be able to be friends the way we are now..."

"Things will change, but that doesn't mean it will be bad though." He let one hand fall to rest on Dietre's, stopping their twisting and wringing.

"You'll be friends, closer then that." Robin pointed out. "Besides, we're already sharing a bed, you don't need to be so nervous." Eventually he leaned down, stopping the third person talk, pressing his lips to the other male's lightly.

It had been a while since he'd had a serious relationship with another guy. Typically those were one - maybe two time things. It was time he did try for something more lasting anyways. He was getting on in his years, a little beyond the 21 year old one night stand habits.

Dietre's life would be a lot easier if he wasn't so insecure. If he hadn't been so busy hating himself all the time, he would have seen there was something between him and Robin long before now. He stole a glance in Robin's direction, his whole body going still when the man's hand fell over his own. Was this the padding to soften the blow of rejection?

Closer? He blinked and it looked like Robin's words might take a minute to sink in.

"But I'm always ner-..." Suddenly Robin was so close, leaning in, and Dietre only had time for one more disbelieving blink before their lips met. While the hand touching his had made him freeze, this sweet, almost chaste kiss, seemed to cause him to melt. It was as though all the alcohol in his system that had faded during his confessions came rushing back, and for a moment D was quite sure he was going to black out and fall right off the couch.

Being overwhelmed and empty headed, he wasn't quite bold enough to kiss back. He turned his head, the two of them cheek to cheek, then pressed his face against Robin's jaw, in something like a nuzzle, but really he was just hiding how red he had gone.

That was -- different. Not in a bad way. It was just strange. He'd never not been kissed back...Or been nuzzled. Well, not after a half-kiss anyways. He supposed it was just cause he'd caught D by surprise, even if the younger definitely should have seen it coming. Robin just sort of let Dietre rest there for a minute though.

Maybe he should just leave it at that? Let D make the next move when he was comfortable with it? Of course, at that rate, he might be waiting a while, but whatever...

Robin smiled and after a few more minutes and ruffled the younger's hair affectionately. "Ready for bed?" He switched off the tv, acting casually as if nothing had happened.

Now that he was sure he wasn't going to do anything mortally embarrassing like faint, Dietre was able to lift his head to give Robin a shy look. For once it wasn't a quick little glance, but something more substantial. Honestly, it was likely the longest the boy's gaze had ever stayed on him. Eye contact was still a little shaky however.

The cat had not only stolen Dietre's tongue, but apparently buried it a mile deep. He was truly at a loss for words, all those other times in his life were nothing compared to this. How did conversations continue after admitting that you liked some one to their face? How come the world didn't stop like it felt like it should have? He was lost and floating. Being a little more than half drunk wasn't helping.

Ready for bed? Just when the red in his cheeks had faded to a more reasonable shade, it came blazing back with a vengeance. His brows shot up, and for a second it looked as though Robin had asked him if he was ready to jump out of a plane instead. This was probably the first time Dietre's relatively innocent mind had gone straight to the gutter without actually trying to think beforehand.

"Uhm."

He nodded. It was a bit too soon to trust himself to talk.

Robin stared for a moment at the lack of an answer. The silence was kind of making him nervous. Did he say something wro- oh.

He gave a great laugh, and shook his head, resisting the urge to kiss D again -- His will power on that last one didn't work to well, as shortly afterwards he placed another peck on the boy's lips. A bit of a spark accompanied it.

"I didn't mean," He stifled another chuckle. "I just meant sleep. Not expecting anything else." Robin assured him. "You're too cute."

That laugh finally broke Dietre free from his stunned, disoriented state. It was just so refreshing, and completely reassuring, there was no way Robin could fake it, and it seemed impossible to detect any cruelty at his expense. He wasn't being laughed at. Something he had done had brought Robin joy, and nothing could bring D closer to happiness than that.

Another kiss, a little more well received than the last, and the little shock that came with it left him touching his lip in surprise.

"Oh." His mouth seemed to be battling between a pout and a smile, and there was something defiant in the way he held his head. It added 'I knew that.' without him having to actually say it. It was all in the lift of his chin.

The younger had barely reacted to the kiss, Robin wasn't about to suggest that they hop right into bed together. Not to anything but sleep, that is. He knew better then that.

Robin was glad the laugh wasn't taken the wrong way either. It was just too adorable, the way D had reacted, he couldn't help himself.

"So anyways, tired? We can go to sleep." He made sure there was no room for misinterpretation this time.

Maybe he hadn't gotten as much of a hold on himself as he thought. His fingers were still to his lips, almost hiding the soft smile that had won out and started to form.

"..Alright, sleep sounds good." He stood, less steady than he had expected himself to be but determined not to make too much of a fool of himself.

"I'll go change." After what seemed like a second's deliberation, he suddenly leaned forward, an hand on the couch to keep his balance, and pressed a kiss to Robin's cheek. It was close enough to the man's mouth that you had to give D points for bravery. He was sure to get over his shyness soon enough.
