Taking Advantage of Being Alone Who: Jo and Mal Where: Rented Beachfront House When: Friday, Late Afternoon - July 6
Joanna was at the railing on the back porch, leaning slightly against it, as she looked out at the ocean. Her sister, Gabby, had taken the children into town after they had all got settled into the beach house. It had become a tradition, starting about six years ago, for Joanna and her family, and Gabby and her daughter, to take a joint vacation after the Fourth of July. And this year was no different.
After getting everything settled, Mal walked out to the back porch with a beer in one hand and a serene expression on his face. Even as the boss he didn't take as much time off as he should have. He lightly wrapped an arm around Jo's waist from behind and rested his chin on her shoulder. "You have no idea how much I've been looking forward to this," he told her, placing a kiss to her neck.
Jo smiled when she felt the curl of an arm around her waist, the blond leaning back slightly when Mal rested his chin on her shoulder. “I think we all have been looking forward to this.” Well, maybe the adults more then the children as they didn’t really take vacations except for these couple of days after Independence Day.
He grunted something in agreement, then continued to watch the still ocean. Fortunately the weather forecast looked favorable for the weekend. "You know, we are all alone," he couldn't help it but lilt. He could count all the times that they were able to spend time together alone for the last month on one hand. "I think that we should take advantage of it," he said, swaying them from side-to-side.
Her smile brightened at the idea. Raising three children, and them both having full time jobs, left very little time or chances for the two of them to spend any actual alone time together. “And just what are you suggesting, Mr. Ryan.” That smile of her lingering as Jo slowly turned herself within his arm to face her husband, her arms hooking loosely around his neck.
He smiled at her when she turned to face him, then set his beer bottle down on the railing so he could wrap his arms around her, lowering his hands to her ass and giving it a squeeze. "I'm suggesting that... you and I rediscover the bedroom before the kids get back," he murmured, leaning over to trail kisses along her neck.
Jo moaned ever so softly when his lips brushed gently along her neck. “I think I would like nothing better.” She murmured softly in return.
"I'd hoped that you might say that..." He murmured in reply, reaching down to lightly take her hand in his. He gave her hand a squeeze and then pulled back, tugging her towards the bedroom with a grin. Hopefully Gabby and the kids wouldn't be back for a while.
A leg draped over his, an arm laid across his chest as Joanna snuggled against her husband, still trying to collect her breath back to a little bit of normalcy. “I’d forgotten how much I liked this room.” She murmured softly, gently nuzzling her husband’s neck. Her husband certainly knew how the make the most of time while they were alone.
That made him laugh. "Of all of the things to say after sex and you say that," he teased. He brought a hand up to her arm that was currently across his chest and lightly traced his fingertips along her skin. He then took a look around. It was a good room, but: "Gets drafty here of a night, though. I'll get some more blankets tomorrow. Bring some tools from home and maybe see if I can fix her up a bit."
“This is suppose to be a vacation, Mal, not a time to be making repairs.” Jo reminded her husband. While the room did get a bit drafty, Joanna didn’t mind it that much. At least not to the point where she’d be expecting him to make repairs during their vacation.
"Wouldn't take long at all, and I bet Henry'll be real happy to help me," he murmured, placing a kiss to Jo's forehead. He liked to use any excuse to work with his hands and it would be a nice bonding thing to do with his son (or either of his daughters, if they felt so inclined to watch/help). "And it'd give you a chance to catch up with the girls."
“If that’s what you want.” Jo responded softly, with a gentle kiss to his cheek. Far be it from her to prevent him for doing something he enjoyed doing, and it would give her husband and their son a little bit of bonding time. “I’m sure I could coax our daughters into a little shopping excursion into town.” There was one thing that could be said about their daughters, and that was they seemed to enjoy spending their parents money, especially their daughter Hurley.
He smirked. "Well, don't let them go too crazy." Not that he felt that Jo would let that happen, but he felt better for saying it, anyway. He let out a content rumbling sound and hugged her to him, glad that Gabby hadn't returned with the kids yet. Oh, he loved his family, don't get him wrong; but moments like this were few and far between and needed to be savored.
“I’ll try and reign them in if they start getting a little too out of hand with our money.” Jo promised as she laid her head on his chest when he tugged her a little bit closer to him. And while she loved her children to death, Jo always appreciated rare times such as this with her husband.
They both knew that if he'd gone shopping with the girls he couldn't resist the faces that they made to get what they want, no matter how much it hurt his wallet. He'd learned a long time ago to let Jo go with the girls. Henry had learned from them, but since he was younger his needs were less expensive so it wasn't so awful with him. "Do you feel old, Jo?" He asked, seemingly out of nowhere.
“Where’s that coming from?” She questioned instantly, her head tipping up so she could look at her husband. She had never really felt that way, even with three children, Jo had never felt like she was getting old.
"Just been thinking lately, that's all," he replied, looking down at her. "Our kids are growing up and almost out of the house, I make involuntarily noises when I get up out of chairs, my bones creak. Little things." He smiled. "I don't feel old when I'm with you, though."
“Well, I think you are far from being an old man, which you demonstrated quite well a few moments ago.” She told him after listening to what her husband had to say. “I don’t feel anywhere near old when I’m with you. In fact, you tend to leave me feeling like a teenager.” She confessed then, with the softest of smiles.
"I guess that there are some things that don't change with time," he murmured, feeling comforted by that. He tilted her chin up with his thumb so he could lightly press his lips to hers, keeping the kiss soft and sweet. "I love you, Jo," he sighed against her lips.
“I love you too, Mal,” she murmured back against those loving lips of his, “with all my heart and soul.” He had been, and always would be, the love of her life. If she ever lost him a part of her would be lost with him.
He smiled. Before anything else could be said, however; the unmistakable sound of car doors slamming could be heard coming from outside. He groaned audibly. "I guess that we'd better get dressed," he murmured, before adding with a playful waggle of his eyebrows, "unless you wanna traumatize the kids."
“Me intentionally traumatize our darling children? Perish the thought.” Jo responded with a little bit of a smirk. While their daughters, at least, would be horrified to catch their parents in a compromising position, Jo found a little bit of amusement with that thought.
He laughed and brought a hand up to cup her cheek, leaning over to give her more of a passionate kiss this time. "C'mon. We'd better get up," he told her. "We can continue what we started later tonight, if you'd feel up to it." He couldn't help it. He was in an amorous mood.
Jo smiled into the kiss, returning it then with the same amount of passion it had been given with. “I’ll more then be feeling up to it.” She told him once their lips parted. If it weren’t for the return of their children, Jo could have very well been up to another round of her husband amorous advances.
