She almost laughed. He was talking about things she could barely understand, like he thought Megan could even begin to grasp them. Just like when they'd started dating and he'd try and talk to her about work over their dates. It was so familiar and that made her feel sick, thinking about how much she had missed him, missed how easy they'd been together.
His next words however were ones she understood perfectly well, however, and weren't exactly ones she wanted to hear.
"Moretti!" Megan cried, whirling round to face him. "Why are you going to see Moretti? He's the one who did this to us! Who killed those people! Who hurt us. It was his negligence and if you think he'll take the responsibility for it, or that you can get some sort of recompense then you're wrong." Those last words were bitter. The court case had dragged out with Moretti and his lawyers showboating and rubbishing her in the papers, the money she'd made from interviews fluttering away after something that had no hope. It was hardly any wonder that she'd turned to crime to support herself after that.
