Characters: Audrey Sean, OPEN
Setting: Defarge Winery
Content: Worksafe
Summary: The Winery is hosting an exclusive wine-tasting party for the public in order to sell their fine wine and showcased vintage wine. A percentage of the sells made that night will go to NanoTech, Audrey's father's company, out of the Defarge's very graciousness. Audrey's alter ego, Shadow Touched, might have done some snooping and discovered stolen wine in the Defarge Winery (and later prompted them to host this Event or some underhanded things might come to light), so expect very unpleasant yet stoically polite Defarge NPCs if you will.

The Winery was an impressive establishment. Audrey, as Shadow Touched, had seen the cellar and that had nearly lost her in her amazement. Like most of the public, she knew of the Defarge's wine room (it was very talked about when it was first built) above ground, a large, climate controlled room with something like 8,000 bottles. It was an amazing thing to behold, and the Defarge Winery was praised for its commitment to its craft. She heard most of the stock had been shipped from a vineyard in France and she wondered briefly how that must have happened, considering how anal they were about the wine's condition and aging. The process must have been tedious.

Audrey mingled with the crowd in the establishment's main showcasing room. The lights were bright and the soft decor alluring. There was a crystal chandelier hanging high above in the middle of the room and Audrey took a second to admire it before a server approached her with a tray and a single glass of shimmery, white wine. She smiled graciously and wrapped her slender fingers around the neck of the glass. Oh well, time to play nice, she thought mischievously and approached the hosts. "Monsieur Defarge," immediately he gave her a wary look, "I'm very appreciative of this.. kind gesture. I--I don't know what to say, except thank you. I wish I could offer you something more besides simple words.. however, I would like to know what prompted this event? If I may be so bold as to ask, I mean no offense."

His face twisted into something confused and he seemed to be backtracking in his head. His wife's mouth opened and closed for a second and finally she spoke with a faint accent. "Oh, oh Miss Sean, it is.. out of the goodness of our hearts. We wish to help, that is all." She sounded nervous and Mister Defarge looked a little edgy as Audrey gave them a hopeful look.

"So you must've heard about our latest project, is that right? I think we've made improvements in our Moletronics department," here she gave them a delighted smile and they nodded stiffly. She shook their hands and thanked them once again and she was on her way again, mingling with guests with her glass in hand. Too bad they didn't bring anything out from their wine cellar..

"No, that isn't it, Audrey!" He turned, glaring at her again, and only calmed himself when he felt the stares of other people around them. "I hate fighting with you like this!" He hissed at her, trying to lower his voice. "Can we talk about this somewhere else?!" He added, not willing to say any more in such a crowded room, his veins already filled with a rush of electricity he felt was almost too powerful for him to control in such a mood.

"No," she snarled quietly, which was a feat in itself considering her temper.

She glared at him right back, her brown eyes smoldering through her lashes. Right now, she could care less if the people wanted to stare, it wasn't her that was making a fool of herself. Still, seeing him so angry made her feel a little giddy. It was refreshing seeing him act so human with her, instead of flirting like he did with everything else that had legs and a heartbeat. Although considering it was Richard, it probably didn't have to have a heartbeat.

The longer she thought about it, the faster her angry scowl fell into a coy smirk. "We can talk about it here. Or we don't talk about it. Ever," she rather liked having the advantage.

"Fine." He replied, desperate not to let his temper get the better of him, and failing miserably. "You know, you've always been a bit of a bitch. I don't know why I thought I wanted you back, you're more trouble than you're worth. Fuck talking about it." He snarled, turning away from her and marching outside, breathing hard. He was alone here and had no qualms about punching the street lamp, letting the surge of electricity blow the bulb, not only in that one, but in the rest down the street. He was not about to let her get the better of him, but he had to admit that somehow she already had.

Audrey stood stock still, a small smirk playing on her lips and disguising tentative emotions, her aura positively dangerous and radiating. A few people went out of their way to avoid her, but she wasn't taking notice of anyone besides the man walking away with a fury.

That hurt. She was willing to admit it to herself in a moment of weakness, before she felt several pairs of eyes on her. Audrey looked around briefly and would've been able to pull it off casually had not everyone suddenly turned their attention on her at Richard's little outburst. Oh shit, she thought vehemently, clutching her wine glass harder than necessary. She smiled a little, hoping prying eyes would go back to their business. Some did, others weren't so easily dissuaded from being so damn nosy. She cursed in her head as she walked towards the entrance, the same path Richard had gone. She leaned against the open doors of the building as the lights inside flickered shortly, and watched Richard quietly, drawing no attention to herself. She wouldn't bother him but she wished he would leave already so she wouldn't have to keep thinking about anything related to him.

It was troubling seeing him so human as much as she enjoyed it.

He growled, thumping the metal again and this time the charge sent tiny fragments of broken glass down onto the pavement, glittering faintly like flakes of snow or diamonds falling from the sky. He couldn't believe what a fool he'd been. How could he have expected for a few sweet words to have charmed her back onto his side. He was over her, he was, he told himself, but what he wanted was for her not to be over him. He wanted her to want him back, to apologise for their break up and for her to brush her hand over his chest again, look up at him with those beautiful dark eyes and see adoration in them as well as his own reflection.

Was that too much to ask? It hadn't even been his fault! And she, she, she was the one who had been bitchy, who had laughed at him and mocked him. No, she was over him... or was she, he thought suddenly. Was she over him? She had wanted to embarrass him, to have him seen as weak and her as powerful, as a victor. If she was over him, she would have let it go. She probably had been waiting all night, watching him, waiting for the right moment to approach.

She was still head-over-heels in love with him, he realised. Completely mad for him. That was it. The sudden understanding made him stand up straight, made him smile, made him feel once more the cock-sure attractive young man he knew he was. He was turning now to head back inside when he saw her silhouetted against the light from inside. "Getting colder out here." He said to her, the smirk back in place like it had never left his face, "Don't catch a cold, Audrey my love."
