Characters: Audrey Sean, OPEN
Setting: Defarge Winery
Content: Worksafe
Summary: The Winery is hosting an exclusive wine-tasting party for the public in order to sell their fine wine and showcased vintage wine. A percentage of the sells made that night will go to NanoTech, Audrey's father's company, out of the Defarge's very graciousness. Audrey's alter ego, Shadow Touched, might have done some snooping and discovered stolen wine in the Defarge Winery (and later prompted them to host this Event or some underhanded things might come to light), so expect very unpleasant yet stoically polite Defarge NPCs if you will.

The Winery was an impressive establishment. Audrey, as Shadow Touched, had seen the cellar and that had nearly lost her in her amazement. Like most of the public, she knew of the Defarge's wine room (it was very talked about when it was first built) above ground, a large, climate controlled room with something like 8,000 bottles. It was an amazing thing to behold, and the Defarge Winery was praised for its commitment to its craft. She heard most of the stock had been shipped from a vineyard in France and she wondered briefly how that must have happened, considering how anal they were about the wine's condition and aging. The process must have been tedious.

Audrey mingled with the crowd in the establishment's main showcasing room. The lights were bright and the soft decor alluring. There was a crystal chandelier hanging high above in the middle of the room and Audrey took a second to admire it before a server approached her with a tray and a single glass of shimmery, white wine. She smiled graciously and wrapped her slender fingers around the neck of the glass. Oh well, time to play nice, she thought mischievously and approached the hosts. "Monsieur Defarge," immediately he gave her a wary look, "I'm very appreciative of this.. kind gesture. I--I don't know what to say, except thank you. I wish I could offer you something more besides simple words.. however, I would like to know what prompted this event? If I may be so bold as to ask, I mean no offense."

His face twisted into something confused and he seemed to be backtracking in his head. His wife's mouth opened and closed for a second and finally she spoke with a faint accent. "Oh, oh Miss Sean, it is.. out of the goodness of our hearts. We wish to help, that is all." She sounded nervous and Mister Defarge looked a little edgy as Audrey gave them a hopeful look.

"So you must've heard about our latest project, is that right? I think we've made improvements in our Moletronics department," here she gave them a delighted smile and they nodded stiffly. She shook their hands and thanked them once again and she was on her way again, mingling with guests with her glass in hand. Too bad they didn't bring anything out from their wine cellar..

"That's important. It never harms to take your time and invest on your education." Rachel stated simply before sipping her wine. The event was turning out to be rather pleasant. She had always enjoyed the hunt, the flirting. It never hurted anybody, right? Marrying was incovenient at times, all that faithfulness not allowing you to have that thrill. "About me? Oh, unfortunately working as a lawyer consumes most of my time. I do have my little pleasures, though, such as a bottle of good wine or a good painting."

"I couldn't have said it better myself," Audrey agreed, taking a sip of her wine with her pink lips smiling subtly at her. She wondered how long they had been talking because it seemed the crowd of people had dwindled slightly.

"Well, you know what they say, it's all about the little pleasures," she hoped that didn't sound.. forward or anything but she couldn't help her mouth sometimes. It could be taken an an innocent statement she was sure, and either way, it should be. "What do you think of the wine here, Rachel?" she asked, hoping to spark conversation before she turned red.

It seemed to Rachel all her senses were tuned. "Oh, marvelous. My taste buds couldn't be more thankful." She smirked. "I'm having to hold back, to tell the truth, to limit myself to two or three glasses. I wouldn't want the alcohol to blurr my judgement". She licked her own lips unconsciously, a predatory glimpse in her eyes. She was barely registering her surroundings at that point. "I'm actually a little bit tired of all the socializing, though, and was about to take some fresh air. J'aimerais beaucoup si tu m'accompagnerais."

"I'm glad to hear that," she gave her a thankful nod and eyed the Defarges from the corner of her eye. They were being unpleasant little pricks.. she pushed the thought out of her head before taking a sip of her own wine. It would be a lie to say Audrey didn't recognize that look Rachel was giving her.

It made her feel a little lightheaded. She smiled, that sounded nice, but she had.. she had obligations here. She couldn't just leave. Audrey gave her an apologetic look. "J'aimerais faire cela, aussi, mais.. je ne peux pas partir. Je suis désolée," she added, her tone a little breathy. Oh dear.. how could anyone have such a smoldering look?

"Très bien." Rachel answered softly. She knew very well that wasn't a "no", just a "probably later". One of the advantages of being a telepath, one could say. Audrey's unsteady breathing was quickly noticed, and was nothing but a good sign. "Nous pouvons parler une fois de plus après. We'll have plenty of time to catch up later." She smiled. "How does that sound?"

"It sounds très bien, Rachel," she said with a coy smile of her own. Audrey tried to stay poised as she bid her farewell and walked away with a wave back.
