Hi kids! So as you can see, shit got real and we're beginning the accompanying fall-out. Figuring out how best to participate?

The Party thread got written up and posted by Rory. Anyone who could feasibly have gone to the bash should go and post over there -- remember, this is the beginning; if you have a predetermined scenario for your nightmare/fantasy, you can always start with the collective here.

Journal posts! Nina's taunting the masses, Jacques is being talkative, but feel free to comment on the weirdnesses, tracking down one another, because the world outside is a very very strange place right now.

Librarians! This is magic gone absolutely batshit and someone needs to find and switch it off whilst there is madness going on -- so many people will need to have magic erased from their understanding, so many demons going deliriously crazy, etc. This is the worst case scenario, the Code Black, etc. Praetorians are out there, but feel free to have a "WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON?" kind of conversation. Orders have gone out for everyone to do something, and it's a case of combat-zone.

Everyone's fantasies and nightmares are overlapping -- dreams tend to absorb bits and pieces of one another, after all -- so there are zombies wandering some parts of London, there is a unicorn in Trafalgar Square, there's a sink-pit in Oxford Circus and the world is being sucked into it. Whatever you can think of is happening right now, and your characters can interact with the calamity or they can flee from it, but the chaos is not simply contained to player-characters.

As we said, we've slowed game time so this is the first night/night of the party and feel free to make a mess. When we start up Day Two, it'll be the daylight hours of the following day (so likely, Librarians cleaning up the mess and the triage at Haven) and Day Three will be any residual affairs you want to get in order before we re-start time again.

So in celebration of the end of celebrations -- seriously, goodbye January and the fail of falling snow, bankruptcy post Christmas et-al -- I am reviving a meme we used to great success in Gate's first few months.

The morning after meme! This is that awful-terrible-no-good-wonderful set-up where no matter what your character was doing last night, they're waking up with someone else on the other side of the bed and facing that moment of 'who?' and all the delicious awkwardness that comes with tossing people together. Generally, this is of the wonderful-crack type meme but we have had lines play out from this affair before.

How it works: You comment with your character's journal, their name in the subject line. Other people then comment on that comment, with their character's name in the subject line -- and an opening to a ~morning after scene, a line of dialogue, anything. The way this really works is if everyone crawls over every post ridiculously and do not feel this is a moment for polished dialogue and witty words. This is nonsense, desirous of putting characters in hideously embarrassing situations for your own fun and ignoring their own sanity.

Hello, delightful heathens, and a happy new year to you all. With the holidays officially behind us, we're looking to roll out some plot and shake a few trees in order to get things rolling again. Part of our unofficial new year's mod resolution is to not just throw more crazy happenings into the fray, but also to encourage everybody to step in and get up to their own no-good. We want to ensure that everybody is comfortable here, and especially comfortable enough to strike out with their own plots and storylines -- this game is as much yours as ours, so remember that it is completely okay to throw things out there at your leisure... at least provided that you don't blow up all of London without warning us first. (Such as: Demons doing what they do best. Occultists' spells going wrong. Market Vendors feeling suffocated by their agreement with the Merchants, and subsequently taking a stand.)

To start it all off, we wanted to put this post up with intent of open plotting. Comment with your character(s), and tell us what you want for them. Not just unfilled roles like 'I'd really like to see my characters's x relative here', but your goals for them, the storylets you'd love to write, but perhaps aren't yet sure how to put in play. People can then respond with ideas, or volunteer their own characters, and perhaps along the way we'll stumble across a few new dynamics which can be built out.

Posted a bit later than intended, but we modly types just wanted to take a moment today and say: HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, GATES.

More importantly, a brief sappy time-out to say thanks for being here for our first birthday, you lot. Thanks for helping us get here, thanks for making this place weird and wonderful, and thanks for having such deliciously beautiful brains. We love you all with a terrible fire, and are really looking forward to what cheap tricks we can haul out next.

Hey, guys! Here to spout some nonsense at you while I've got a few minutes. We realize most of the group has been dealing with exams, work, etc., but things seem to be calming down a bit. With that in mind, I wanted to propose the following and get some feedback:

A tournament. Specifically, a gambling tournament where the payoff can effectively be your heart's desire -- win, and what you ask for is yours. Of course, this is run by a demon (Erynn's own Tony, to be exact), so lose and the price is your soul. Think of it as the most high-stakes game out there, particularly suited to high-rollers but open to all and sundry. Any takers? There's definite opportunity on deck: riches, power, life and death at your hands, love if that's your thing; really, the sky's the limit. Of course, since this is a game run by an enterprising demon, players are more likely to lose than win.

I don't want that to scare anyone off, because to be honest, losing one's soul sounds pretty awesome -- you then have a custom-built character storyline where you can seek to win it back; beg, borrow, steal, whatever. Let me know what you guys think, because now that life seems to be settling down for most of us, we'd love to give everyone something fun to play with. (And if anybody just wants to drum up story stuff, let us know! We do encourage player-driven stories, so no hesitating!)

Okay, this is just me being a nerd and wanting to show off, but. HEY GUYS PAY ATTENTION 'cause I rebuilt the cast directory today and you are some sexy bitches, lemme say.

While we're at it, two separate people have suggested a comm-wide open thread for New Year's Eve. One idea was to have it as a pub crawl, so people could jump from place to place and interact with more characters. How does everyone feel about this? Drunken shenanigans + low-pressure threading = awesome? I think so, but feedback, please. If we get a few huzzahs, we'll throw an open log up ASAP.

UPDATE: IT HAS BEEN DECIDED. After a brief convo, we're adding in a fun factor. Balthazar, slick demon sonuvabitch extraordinaire, will be club/pub crawling during NYE's. As Mars said:

So! While it's up to players if they want to participate, the option's there. If Balthazar has shown at the place you're partying, feel free to run with it -- overindulgence is the name of the game, sin's a certainty, and chances are if you're not guarded to hell (ha) and back, you're free to get rolled by Balthazar's effect.
