Hello everyone! I'm Tiffany and I'm ~*~new~*~, complete with sparkles and energy and earnestness. I'm twenty, a junior at a university somewhere on the east coast, and an Anthropology/Asian/Pacific-American Studies double-major with a minor in English (previously a major: dropped because I SERIOUSLY CANNOT STAND OLD ENGLISH, I APOLOGIZE A THOUSAND TIMES OVER. DO NOT HAVE THE PATIENCE NOR THE INTEREST TO PUT MYSELF THROUGH IT AGAIN). Feel free to add my cdj [info]millefeuilles or contact me via g-mail (cakemixing) or aim (sesame milk tea). I'm available ALL THE TIME because I'm on my last week and a half of vacation, but come the start of the new semester, expect to see me during the evenings. ANYWAYS, ENOUGH BABBLE ABOUT ME. HERE'S WHAT YOU'RE REALLY INTERESTED IN.

No, this is not Mr. Saito – it just looks like him. But vendors, merchants, and market-goers might want to take interest in Yoshinori Hashimoto! Yoshi's a merchant too, and he comes from a long, long line of merchants: if you go up far enough on his family tree, you find out that one of his ancestors was lucky enough to marry a merchant's daughter and it goes on from there. Thus, Yoshi's been all around the world and raised by various families; he's fluent in a number of languages as a result, such as Chinese, Japanese, and English. He spends most of his time in the Hashimoto family home in Sapporo, but thanks to portals and things like that, he's pretty much everywhere.

A few notes on his personality as well: Yoshi, to most people, comes off as a surprisingly easygoing man. He's rarely perturbed and seems to maintain a sense of calm no matter the situation. Very difficult to rile him up. Harmless. My whole concept of him was this sort of affable zen uncle, which he pulls off very well – but it's not him at all. Beneath the surface, Yoshi is as conniving as the next merchant, ambitious, and a family man (note that lower-case F; he's loyal to things outside of the merchants). He's also [info]marionnettes's second-cousin (her father being his actual cousin) but in lieu of the Iwakura fail, Yoshi's taken up the mantle in being a caring family member for Marion and views her as one of his own.

I think that's everything so I'm just going to say I CAN'T WAIT TO PLAY WITH YOU GUYS. I'VE BEEN STALKING SINCE FOREVER.

I am always left sat back in my seat and startled when people come in with amazing character concepts and then say 'I've totally stalked your game!'

Anyway. HI TIFF VERY NICE TO HAVE YOU HERE. I'm Dora, she of too many characters (though probably not as many as Lis or Julie, cold comfort indeed), and really looking forward to Merchant hijinks like whoa. I am also just returned from work and will have to sit on constructive plotty bits until I've had time to unwind, but have already glued myself to your CDJ like a good creeper (I'm [info]droa, please try not to be bowled over by the originality) and will be harassing you in the immediate future.

I DON'T MEAN TO STARTLE. I put in a reserve a few months ago, got distracted, but always meant to come back and give it another go. But ty for that compliment! ♥

ADDING YOU BACK IMMEDIATELY. I'm pretty much as bad as Julie is re: the tendency to gather characters like flowers in a field. I look forward to future harassment SO MUCH and I cannot wait for the plot and the future hijinks. :D

Stalking is a good way to spend an e-afternoon. I highly recommend it. SO ANYWAY HEY HI.

I'm RM (at lj user = "blythe_spirit"> where I soon will join the creeper brigade) and my group includes Havenite Ophelia Ziegler ([info]forserious) who has learned from experience to loath Merchants but is fond of easy going older men who are good at languages, the pulse challenged Armand York ([info]libraryghost) who works for the Library full of people disapproving of Merchant lifestyle choices, the superheroic wannabe ([info]superdweeb) Jim Chaterjeee who will live in terror of all people who work at the Market, and Candy ([info]notsonegative) who can take people's powers away.

The most likely to interact with him is Stella Chu, on this journal, who is one of his Vender employees. She has a focus on Chinese Folk Magic but mostly does whatever stupid people will pay her to fix.

So happy you're here!

I DO IT ALL THE TIME. And I'm going to add you back rtfn, RM! Your characters all look SO interesting and can't wait to interact -- Morgan Freeman! I think Armand should definitely have had previous run-ins... but I'm just sort of enamored with the idea of Morgan Freeman having been a previous acquaintance. Seeing as Yoshi considers himself more the latter description than the former, I still vote Ophelia like him; Jim is adorable; and Yoshi hopes to never encounter Candy. Ever.

Vendor! Yaaay. Depending on how long she's been selling, they could be good friends, I think – he's not one to make enemies often. Easier to manipulate close than from afar. :P What say you?

Huzzah and whatnot! Okay Armand was/is in training but that never stops anyone from doing anything around here and would just mean amusement in all general directions. /just pushes all the toys at you. Except Candy who simply winks. As you do.

Stella has been an assistant since about sixteen and started running her own stall at thirty four- so def around for a bit. She'd be annoyed by manipulation, and would probably try to discreetly hide most of her notes when he was about, but she's a good Vendor and would appreciate the friendship based on something so sensible.

SOUNDS FANTASTIC TO ME. I imagine then that Yoshi and Stella have known each other for a fair amount of time. Hopefully she wouldn't notice the manipulation and he wouldn't have to use her, unless she became useful to him – but yay for friends :D

Hi Tiff! I'm Cat, and I only have Wren Shelley, a teen psychometric. Yoshi and Wren are connected to each other, though--Wren's cousin is also Marion! So the two have, or will, cross paths with each other.

HEY CAT. I'm sure they've met at one point or another – seeing as Wren is so young (LOVE HER NAME, BTW), I'm not sure if Yoshi would initially have much to say to her or even think much OF her, but he certainly wouldn't be rude, and family of Marion's is, at least, a mild concern for him if the going gets tough for them.

Please excuse my super belatedness at commenting on this, good lord. I'm terrible at keeping up with intros. Welcome to Gates, Tiffany! I'm Zoe, and happy to have you join us. :D I have a few characters, and at least two of them off the bat who have connections to Yoshi!

Gideon Foster (this journal) is the head London Library Market Monitor, so he has a relationship with the Merchants in London as well as manning the Library stall in the Market. It's contentious relationship, naturally, since the Library has all these Rules that the Merchants tend to disregard, but Gideon leans towards letting the Merchants do what they want as long as it's behind closed doors and not publicly flouting the Library. Which of course, Nic just did, and Gideon's real thrilled about that. He also used to work undercover as a Vendor about 20 years ago and did plenty of traveling with the Market, surely to Japan as well, so he may have met Yoshi in the past!

Then I have Arazia Santoro ([info]intensifying) who is a Merchant, Nic's younger cousin, and actually just came from one of the Merchant families in Japan -- could have been Yoshi's, if you're interested. Her ability is to power boost, so she typically gets passed around from family branch to family branch to help whoever needs their wards strengthened or has some major task to complete, and because she has a very unbecoming tendency to try to run away, she spent her time in Japan more or less locked up. (Nic's being much more accommodating, which he's naturally going to pay for later.) Either way, even if they don't know each other already, they obviously already "know" each other!

My other characters are Nolan Thales ([info]pythic), a Delphic oracle with a stolen set of oracular eyes shoved in his head, who works as a pianist at the local demon bar in London and sells his visions for cash monies; Jegudiel ([info]laudingly), an archangel who champions leaders and generally keeps a fascinated eye on society; and Berith [info]fetters), a demon currently trapped in the basement of the local magical newspaper press who only gets out via the journals and is slowly going mad. Not sure if you can think of any immediate reason for Yoshi to know them, but surely he'll run into them eventually. :)

hi zoe! it's awesome to be here and awesome to know yoshi has some connections already (also; pardon my lack of capitalization and any typos that slip through my radar atm! i just got my nails done and i am not used to typing with these NEW CLAWS ON MY FINGERTIPS, AUGH). but anyways--

re: gideon – I like that idea of them having met previously in Japan; Yoshi's done some collaborative work with the Asian Market, especially because his wife's family is more active there, so he would have approached Gideon if it was clear he was more affiliated with the London Market like Yoshi. I could see the being amiable with one another – Yoshi is not particularly cutthroat or caustic – and even casual friends.

I love the idea of Arazia having been with Yoshi's family! For your information: his wife is Chinese, and he has two older sons and thne two daughters. I could very well see his wife (who I imagine as the more militant parent) cracking down on Arazia. So A+ on that idea!

I'm sure I'll figure out someway to drag more plot out of you. :) thanks for the welcome!

SO HELLO THERE. I have a really bad track record of commenting in intro posts in a timely manner, so I apologize for that! I'm Gia and I'll be adding you over in CDJlandia asap (I'm ~walburga).

Mr Hot Stuff here (Saito! mmmm) can totally have employed Q's services in the past, as you suggested in my post! I would love that. He likes a conniving Merchant far more than a conniving Librarian! Let's do this. I'm trying to figure out how to wrangle Q's return to public~ London life, so if Yoshi is the sort to keep tabs on contract men, he is more than welcome to poke him.

I also playyyy --

Rainer Stone ([info]ritual), an Occultist who plays at being a necromancer. I'm not sure if they would have reason to know each other (yet!), but I am excited to see what will happen should they ever meet!

Mr Black ([info]readywear), one of the Nephilim, who thinks all humans are equally fascinating! He'd probably love poly-languaging out in Yoshi's face.

YES PLEASE DO. i'm an awful stalker of cdjs, so the more the merrier. nice to meet you, gia!

he most certainly will, if only for the sake of keeping the connection alive. we'll have to brainstorm what purpose Q played in yoshi's life -- like what he hired him for, i mean. apologies for crappy wording, i'm half awake atm haha.

AS FOR THE OTHERS: stellar & hopefully will get to interact with them yet! :D
