Although business was never quite as booming as it had been when they had first opened, the present afternoon had actually been pretty good for the shop. Early mornings up to midday always marked the rush for Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes, the only time when parents really felt it was safe to bring their children to the Alley. By the lunch hour patrons had begun to filter out, and finally, with only a few gaggles of kids left, Fred felt it was safe enough to turn his back to the counter to tinker with something on a shelf behind the counter.
It didn't last very long, though, before he heard someone approach the counter proper, and he barely had time to turn around to take care to the assumed customer before he recognized the voice. Grinning brightly, he turned around, greeting the familiar blonde just as enthusiastically. "KB! What brings your pretty little head about these parts?"
Of course Fred knew that Katie only worked a good number of shops down, and therefore was always about these parts, but really, it was more of a circumstantial question than anything. The war made it hard for any groups of friends to see each other very often, even groups of friends that were as closeknit as theirs were. Still, whatever the reason, he was very excited to see her - and seemingly well and happy, too.
