Who: Padma Patil and Pansy Parkinson.
What: Confrontation and intimidation at a misplaced note.
Where: A vacant hallway.
When: (Backdated) Saturday, January 15th.
Rating: PG?
The owl that had informed Pansy she was not to be Head Girl this year had felt nothing short of a slap in the face. She had been convinced she would be receiving the coveted badge in light of the way things in the world had turned. How could the Carrows allow anyone that hadn't fully supported the Dark Lord's agenda from day one lead the other students? The logic of that just didn't make sense at all! Sure, the Patils were pure (possibly even purer than Pansy) but their family hadn't declared allegiance to pureblood ideals the way the Parkinsons had. And she was related to a bloody Gryffindor for Merlin's sake! It was lucky for probably everyone that Pansy had managed to calm down about the obvious slight by the time she reached school as Padma might not have been safe walking down a dim hallway alone the first day back. Instead, there was a clumsy elf who was now out of a job because of being blamed for several irrepairable artifacts mysteriously being hexed to oblivion in the Burke household. And there had, of course, been the spiteful glare during the feast.
Pansy had never thought much of Padma before but now she was officially considered not only an enemy but an enemy to be targeted whenever possible. The Slytherin Prefect would love nothing more than to see her de-throned by scandal and humiliation. The irony of how such an event would relate to her own family history was lost on her.Though Pansy didn't care much anymore about studying (who needed to study when you had a carefully constructed pureblood background to get you by in the new world order?), she had been greatly rewarded for a spontaneous trip to the library by finding some clearly incriminating evidence. It wasn't enough to take to the Headmaster but it was plenty to help get inside the girl's head with. Pansy couldn't think of a better way to spend her Saturday, really.
It would have been impossible to wipe the grin off her face when she saw the Ravenclaw girl walking alone just a little bit ahead of her after she rounded a corner. "Oh, Padma, dear!" Pansy quickened her pace, still beaming, until she reached her target. "I have a question for you."
