This was the part of the conversation he really should have figured out before hand. And he had, sort of, though he suspected he hadn't thought it through to nearly the extent that he needed. But it was really too late now.
"I know you're incredibly busy, Professor Carrow, so I really hope this won't take long. You see, I've been concerned because there have been rumours flying about students not coming back from Holiday and the sorts of things that might mean. I was wondering if you had any knowledge on the subject that might help me quell any signs of rebellion."
Oh Merlin, that wasn't subtle at all.
"I thought, perhaps, also that I could inquire about joining the I.S. Just to keep myself more appropriately informed. And the additional authority would again quite help in terms of keeping students in line. So that I don't have to bother you quite so often."
Ugh. That was the worst possible idea, and Ernie rather regretted the words coming out of his mouth. He was entirely sure this would not end well.
