For what felt like a full minute but was probably closer to a few seconds Hazel simply looked at Ernie in the dark, the soft outline of his face, a dumb smile on her lips.
"You're probably right," she admitted, hearing nothing above the pounding of her heart in her ears. It wasn't for fear, at least, this time. "I guess we should get back to the common room."
Hazel didn't sound even marginally enthusiastic about her suggestion.
