Hazel was glad she could blame her flushed cheeks on thirty minutes of practice, and her expression not on surprise but having been poised to blow.
"Well, it wasn't official or anything," she admitted, purposefully refraining from using the word date. She'd had days now to convince herself that Ernie was far less likely to fancy her than she was him, and as much as she could appreciate having someone to talk to, Hazel couldn't help but be the least bit disappointed.
"I'm sure you've got loads of homework to do before the holiday."
