Ernie kept reminding himself that it was good that he was patrolling with a Slytherin. That at least then he could keep an eye on her. Keep things neutral and without detentions. Most importantly without detentions.
Avery wasn't Travers, though, which he hoped meant that the evening would be a touch more bearable. Ernie wasn't sure that he thought much of her, really, but he didn't have quite the reason to dislike her like he did for Travers, Malfoy, or Parkinson.
When she arrived, Ernie managed the barest of smiles. "Good evening. I figured we'd start up in the towers and work our way down. We'll both want to end up in the basements anyway. Does that sound all right?"
