Lavender was not going to let anything ruin her good mood. More detentions were on her horizon, but she had a precious few days reprieve in between them and she was going to enjoy them, no matter what. For all she knew, this could be her very last Saturday that she would spend as a free woman, and while she would have loved to do nothing more than laze about with her friends and enjoy the day, she was a 7th year and still had exams to worry about.
Brilliant and all as Gryffindors were, she knew she would need specialist help to get a head start on her homework. If she couldn’t spend the day relaxing with her friends, she could at least spend the day studying with a friend. Outdoors. It was a stipulation of her inner agreement to be disciplined.
Michael was late, so rather than stand about waiting for him like a spare part, she took off towards the Library that she had seen altogether too much of recently and found him there amidst the yearbooks.
“Fooound yooou,” She whispered as she crept up behind him and locked him in a hug. As she swayed him from one side to the next, she said, “We were supposed to meet in the Great Hall so we could go outside in the moderate sunshine and chilly air, Mister Corner! Come on, let’s get out of this stuffy place.”
Lavender knelt down and helped Michael to pick up the yearbooks, stopping at one that had fallen open. It had a class of Slytherins on it, and one who was smiling gormlessly at her happened to be familiar, “That’s my Uncle Paul,” She grinned, picking up the yearbook and showing it to Michael. “Ugh, I’m so glad I didn’t inherit his oily skin. He has rotten scars on his face from picking those spots. Don’t let that put you off, though, he’s really lovely. He’s just a bit… extreme, I suppose. Works really hard, really ambitious. Us Browns are in every house, unlike certain other boring, predictable families.”
