Who: Fleur Weasley Delacour, Nymphadora Lupin Tonks
What: They got along like multicoloured chalk and the best of French cheese.
When: Around Christmas '96
Where: The Burrow
Rating: G for gosh these girls are great
Fleur did not like being at the Burrow without Bill, even if he was only outside playing Quidditch with his brothers. It was like wandering into a lion's den without a wand, because the fearless lionesses that guarded this pride land were vicious and unwelcoming, or at least they were if you were Fleur. With her logic, Fleur put this dislike down to appearances. It was an age old problem for the part-Veela. Women, as a general rule, did not like her. They were threatened by her obvious beauty, and instead gravitated towards more homely looking creatures like Tonks. What these women didn't know was that looks did not matter to Fleur. Her own beauty was merely a bonus, and she did not think that Tonks was any less of a woman than her for having a different kind of beauty. No, Fleur was simply a little threatened by her. Fleur stopped looking at her perfect reflection in the back of spoon for long enough to cast her gaze over to Tonks, all mousy hair and plain. Tonks was not without her charm, but it was a look that Molly seemed to favour. Fleur had overheard Ginny saying that Molly probably wanted Tonks to be with Bill, and so while she didn't feel threatened, she did not appreciate that she was being replaced so quickly. Putting the spoon away so they could continue cleaning up the kitchen after dinner, Fleur cleared her throat, something she did a lot more since hearing the adorable nickname bestowed upon her by the charming Ginny. "Can I ask you per'aps a stupid question?" Fleur said, fishing for conversation, "Why ees eet zat you do not let people call you Nymphadora? Why ees eet always Tonks?" |
