Fred knew that Katie was a sharp girl, could tell when things were up. He knew, too, that she was well-aware of when she was getting herself into a tight spot. This, though, this was big - bigger than all of them. Bigger than the D.A. by far, and he just wanted to double, triple-check that she was aware of that.
He leaned in, shooting Lee a quick glance at her quick acceptance, and spoke quietly, trying to remain as serious as possible without scaring the poor girl away with how uncharacteristic it was. "It's not a symbolic resistance movement, Kates. And yeah, I know you know that!" he added quickly, to stifle any of her indignant objections. "But before you agree, we have to be a right buzzkill and point it all out, by order of those outranking us..."
He paused for a moment, thinking over everything Kingsley had told him to make sure they told Katie. "It's dangerous. Some of us have died. More of us might croak before it's over, knock on wood. The commitment is enormous. You'll have to watch your every step, every day." Fred cracked a grin, then, trying to lighten the mood even a little bit. "Which I know'll be hard for you, being so accident-prone and all."
