Who: Severus Snape and OPEN What: After the Quidditch match When: Sunday, January 23, 1998 Where: Between the pitch and the castle Rating: Low for now
Severus was pleased with the outcome, of course, but it had been hard to focus on the match with all of the more pressing thoughts swirling through his mind. Walking back from the pitch towards the castle, he chose to take a longer, less direct path, hoping that the quiet would afford him time to think. He had not had further instructions from the Dark Lord for some time, and, while on the one hand the relative silence on that front was welcome, on the other, it made him slightly apprehensive. It likely meant that he was due for a summons in the near future.
Thankfully, the school seemed fairly controlled at the moment, and, aside from his unfortunate tea with Amycus the previous week, he'd had little trouble even from the Carrows. Thank Salazar for small mercies, he thought as he rounded a bend in the path and the side of the castle swung into view. Just at that moment, however, he was brought up short by an unexpected sight and the old adage about not counting your dragons before they're hatched floated through his mind.
"Excuse me," he said, his voice ringing out severely, "but what do you think you're doing?"
