After I got off the phone with Lindsey, I sat in my old family home and waited for him. I'm not even too sure why I thought that leaving would accomplish anything. I just got sick and tired of all of the staring from people any time Lindsey and I went out and Mel glaring daggers into me and whispering stupid stuff to all of her friends. Sure, I knew she was just making idiotic stuff up and just spinning her wheels, but it still got to me.
I can't really stand the idea of being away from Lindsey at this point, though, which is why I am letting him come and get me. I'm fairly certain that he knows where the house is. Of course, if he doesn't or if he gets lost, he can always call me again and ask for more directions, or I can come and meet him, or something. Whatever.
It hadn't taken me as long as I thought it would to get to Lilah's small home town. Once I got there though i had to stop and ask someone where her house was, because I realized I've never actually been to her home town before, I've just heard her mention it once or twice. After getting the directions to her house, I thanked the guy and headed over to her house.
Once I got to her house I parked the car and took a few seconds to just take in her house. It was quite nice. After looking the exterior over for a few moments,I walked over to the front porch and then knocked on the door.
When I heard the knock on the door, I got off of the sofa and walked over. I pulled the door open and looked at Lindsey for a moment before stepping aside and letting him in.
I didn't say anything when she opened the door I just walked into the hall. Once I was in the hall I looked around the place a bit. "Not exactly what I pictured.."
I shrugged when he said that it wasn't what he had pictured it. "It was my parent's house," I told him. "I didn't decorate it or anything like that."
"Right.. no it's nice I just thought it'd be you know fancier, with maids or somethn'." I said as I continued to look around some more.
"Well, no one lives here, anymore," I pointed out to him. "There used to be maids and everything, though." Just no point in keeping them around now, obviously.
"Oh.." I said when she told me that there used to be house staff. "Must've been nice.." I said as I took a seat finally on one of the newly i]uncovered couches.
"It wasn't too bad," I said as I sat down across from him. "So, why'd you come here, Lindsey? Really?"
"I came to find you,you shouldn't have left." I said. Hell I'd nearly killed Mel trying to get information out of her.
I shrugged when he said that I shouldn't of left. "I'm sure you're the only one in that town that thinks that," I said to him.
"Maybe, but mine's really the only opinion that I should matter." I countered as I shifted in my seat a bit.
"I know you're right about that," I said to him. "It's still hard as hell to keep hearing that stuff constantly, though. I'm only human."
"Yeah I know you are, but you used to be a hell of a lot better at either hiding it or just letting it roll off the ice veneer you had surrounding you." I reminded her with a smile.
"Well, showing that I have some feelings make me more vulnerable to the others," I pointed out to him. "Plus, easier to keep up the veneer in a work place."
I nodded. "Makes sense." I said. "So are you coming back with me or do I have to drag you back?"
I sighed. "Guess this means you won't take no for an answer then, huh?" I asked with a slight smile. Frankly, I kind of like that he's willing to fight for me. "I'll come back of my own free will, but your ex needs to learn to shut her damn mouth."
"It's not you she's really pissed off at, but yeah." I sighed and considered what had happened in the last few days. "We could always move.."
I shook my head when he suggested that we move. "I wouldn't want to take you from the town you love," I said to him. "There's got to be some sort of compromise."
