When in doubt....
Who: Violet OT Anyone else in Medical
When: Evening, July 11
Where: Medical Ward
What: Violet wakes up and starts to drift back to sleep. Feel free to wake her up.

When Violet woke up, it was with a shock. One moment she had been dozing in her bed, the next, she'd had a ceiling dropped on her as the floor fell out from under her. Concrete landed on her, bruising flesh and breaking bones, a piece of metal went through her leg. She wasn't aware of being pulled out of the wreckage. So she woke up and immediately tried to sit up, the threads of panic snapping her into a sitting position where made her see black spots.

Her breathing hitched and she managed to bring one arm up to her chest, fingers questing over bruises. There were so many in medical that those who didn't appear as if they were going to immediately die had been shoved to the side to be seen to as soon as possible after those in more dangerous situations.

Violet wasn't going to die. There was a lot of pain, but that was it. Lying back, she tried to move her legs. Her right moved freely. The left didn't immediately answer, it just throbbed painfully.

"Fuck," she breathed out into the air. There was a taste of dried blood in her mouth, it was a nasty stain on her teeth. Her hair was rusty red in place, dried blood making her look almost like a peppermint stick. There was a bruise along her face, red slowly turning a darker purple now, so many hours later.

Turning her head was a slow process, her neck feeling so painfully stiff that she almost gave up halfway through, but she wanted to see what was going on. She was in medical. Something had happened. It seemed like every bed was full. What the hell had happened? Part of her wanted to sit up again, but her stomach and back muscles complained before she even tried. Nope, sitting up was totally out of the question.

Swallowing, she wanted to talk louder, ask questions, and demand answers. Except that required energy and Violet wanted to sleep more than she wanted to answers. Closing her eyes, she allowed herself to drift softly back into the realm of sleep.

She still wasn't totally sure what exactly had happened, but even though she'd been in medical, working, it was very obvious something catastrophic had happened, and now they were dealing with the fall out. Her emerald green eyes shifted around the rapidly filling up ward and she took a deep breath as she heard them paging more staff through the loudspeaker.

In situations like this (which she'd never really been in before), but she assumed, that she wouldn't really be assigned a specific patient, that she should just go to someone and start working. She had to be careful though, if she overextended herself too far she might be the next patient in the ward.

She hurried over to a random bed where she happened to find a woman laying, she was currently trying to turn her head, looking as though she was having a hard time of it too.

She extended her hands now, saying in a low, quiet tone of voice, "I know it's hard, but try to relax, I'm going to heal you now." Her hands then took on that gentle green glow and she started at her head, then went down slowly, touching where she saw wounds or where she could sense hurt was going on. She finished with the left leg before drawing her hands back, having to lean against the cot because that had really taken the wind out of her.

She just watched her patient now, wondering if she would awaken or continue to rest..

Violet was as relaxed as she was going to get with what she could only guess was about half of her nerve endings crying in absolute misery. Luckily, it hadn't re-damaged the minor fracture of her neck or she would have been courting being paralyzed.

The sensation of a person near was hard to distinguish from the ten thousand other profiles Violet could feel over the top of her own pain. But this person was so much closer and they were talking through the haze of physical pain she felt. The voice was one she recognized, though the realization was slow, coming a little faster as the pain in her face cleared some, the bruise fading into the skin.

Ever was someone Violet had essentially avoided. Well, not so much her personally as the entire medical ward because all that brought back was memories of being in solitary...of knowing that people wanted to kill her because she had done something she felt was right, protected her life and that of someone close to her. So what if she'd killed somebody supposedly on a higher rung of the evolutionary ladder than her? It didn't matter to her. To her, the only important part was her own survival and that of those closest to her.

She opened her eyes, just slivers the phantoms of pain still running through her body up into her head.

"What?" her voice was thick and tired.

Forever wasn't bothered by avoidance, even though she wasn't really a doctor, she essentially was in the same role as one, and to the mutants she was thus associated with medical and the whole institution as a whole, and some of them were uncomfortable with that, just as humans were uncomfortable about doctors and hospitals.

Those currently unblinking green eyes peered down at the woman as she seemed to wake up, just watching her, perhaps in a bit of an eerie way, to those that had a thin skin about such things, though there was nothing apparent in those eyes but a bit of concern, which was probably a good thing, as an uncaring Healer wasn't something many mutants wanted when they were ailing and in pain.

She was wearing a white lab coat, it wasn't obvious what she had on beneath that, having put that on because she was unsure what she would encounter and if it was a lot of blood splatter she wouldn't want her clothes ruined.

"Rest. I'm sure you are still very tired." She told her, unsure what she was asking about..probably what happened, but she didn't know much about that situation either. As if to supplement her words, she placed a slender hand on the woman's right shoulder, not pressing, just holding it there for a moment or two, getting over the worse of the shortness of breath now, knowing she could probably handle a few more healings, or one severe one if she had to.

The urge to sit up and ask a hundred questions was back again, warring with the need to just close her eyes and rest. Even as healed as she was, the emotional trauma layered on top of just the simple fact of being severely injured again, Violet still felt horribly tired. Her eyes closed slowly and then she opened them again for a moment, then closed.

Despite fighting it, sleep was winning. Robbing her ability to speak, to ask, and maybe that was for the best. She was going to need her strength to deal with the oncoming pain, the knowledge that once again, she had survived while others she cared for died.

Taking a deep breath, her body settled back against the pillow, the pain on her face disappearing as she fell asleep again.

Down in sleep, there were things in the dark, things right on the edge of the visions and distorted voices trying to tell her something. Violet struggled against it without waking. Everything seemed to be constantly pulling at her from every direction. How long it lasted, she didn't know, and then she finally settled into something dreamless. At least for a time.
