Change will come...
Who: Wanda, Pietro, Mia at the start.
When: Wednesday June 3rd. Morning. Vacation Day
Where: Pietro’s cell then Transia 29 years in the past.
What: Wanda and Pietro meet their mother.

As soon as she was awake, Wanda went straight to her brother’s room, though she gave him no explanation for her sudden appearance. In truth, she’d had a nightmare, the details of which were already becoming hazy, and she just felt like company. She remembered little about her dream, except that it had taken place in Transia- the land of her birth in the Balkans. Now she sat in a chair in Pietro’s room, mulling through distant memories of a freezing place. As was usually the case whenever she thought of Transia, her thoughts turned to her birth mother.

It was strange, Wanda mused, that she rarely wondered about their real father but often thought about their real mother. Perhaps it was just harder to imagine abandonment at the hands of a mother than at the hands of a father. She had always suspected that the woman must have died soon after their birth, though Django had never been able to confirm this. All he knew of their parents was that they were not Transian and that their mother had only arrived at Wundagore on the day she gave birth- that was all Bova told Marya and Django when she gave the twins over to them. Bova was also a mystery; she was apparently a cow woman- a concept that was slightly difficult for Wanda to fathom- created by someone called the High Evolutionary on Mount Wundagore where the twins were born.

While Wanda thought of her mother she felt a deep sadness that she had never met the woman. It must have been terrible for her, Wanda imagined, a stranger in the cold climes of Transia in the midst of winter. The frozen Balkans were not an easy environment for outsiders to endure, and for their mother it must have been a difficult journey to Wundagore. Wanda wished, foolishly she knew, that she could have seen her mother, helped her somehow. But we can’t change the past she thought and gave a wistful sigh.

"Morning. I've been sitting here nearly fifteen minutes. I can't believe you didn't hear me come in," she chided, though she was smiling. "Leave it to you to sleep like the dead anywhere. It could be the apocalypse and you'd just nap right on through it."

She tapped her fingers on the back of the chair and looked thoughtful. "Oh and I've got fifty dollars for you in my room, remind me later."

Mia had made a point of wandering about since she awoke that morning with a sense of pervading happiness. So now she had made it into Blue Block, she was just following threads. Desires strong enough they appeared on her mental radar. She was making dreams come true for the day. Because her powers wanted her to.

Mia was more than happy to follow what her powers wanted her to do at the moment. There wasn't any blood involved, that made her extremely happy. So she hummed her way into the Block and swayed to music only she could hear.

A new thread was there, red thread, quivering like jello but leading her along further into the block. She found herself stopping at a door. There were people talking beyond it. Mia just stopped and looked in. The thread shook all the harder. Yep this was the place. The sound of birds singing whistled out of nowhere and the pair which had been sitting in their room considering sniping back and forth would suddenly find them in the very same attire sitting on the stones of a mountain.

Pietro laughed, making a face and running a hand through his mussed hair. "Had to build up a healthy tolerance to deal with you screaming all night when we were still in our crib," he countered with a grin.

He arched an eyebrow, a hint of a frown on his lips. "Fifty? Where you keep getting this money? Not that I don't appreciate it."

"I told you, from this guard..." Wanda trailed off as she suddenly realized three things. One, it was very very cold. Two, it was snowing. Three, they definitely weren't on Revolve anymore.

Wanda blinked for a few moments, shocked into complete silence. The landscape was familiar- towering mountains, verdant forests stretching out to the east and hard frozen wastelands to the west. A winding trail, which they were now standing near, led up to the precipice of the mountain above. Below near the forest's edge were tiny wagons parked in a circle and tiny plumes of smoke from campfires in their midst.

Only half an hour before, Wanda had been dreaming of all this. This was Transia. This was Wundagore. She stared around in wonder, squinting at a bundled figure making its way slowly up the path, beyond the camp of wagons but not quite at the mountain's slope. She was finally brought to her senses as a particularly frigid gust of wind cut through the thin cotton of her Revolve-issue outfit and chilled her down to her bones. She swatted at a flurry of snowflakes and shivered.

"Pietro..." it was all the utterance she could manage between her astonishment and the cold.

Pietro blinked, eyes slow to believe what was before him, head slowly twisting about to take in the familiar sight, breath crystalising before him. "...We're home," he mumbled in disbelieve, and then a small, breathless laugh found its way from his lips, "Wanda, we're home."

He winced slightly at the frigid winds, jacket still hanging from his fingertips and he was quick to drap it over his twin's shoulders, rubbing her arms with a conserned look, though he couldn't quite banish his grin. "We need to get you out of this cold."

Wanda was not as pleased as her brother- for this to have happened something must be terribly wrong. Her first instinct was to think it was a dream, but the bite of the wind soon banished that idea. She wondered if it was her own powers- this was highly improbable- but her collar had been working and she hadn't felt anything. Regardless of the explanation, she was still having trouble believing this was real. With a nod of thanks she pulled Pietro's coat tighter around her shoulders. "There's fires down there," she pointed towards the caravan below and began making her way in that direction. It would not be long until they came upon the figure on the path, who seemed to be going very slowly, as though encumbered by something. Wanda watched their slow progress with concern- this certainly wasn't traveling weather.

Pietro wrapped an arm around his sister, for added warmth and the assurance that she was safe from harm. He ducked his head slightly, shaking silvery hair from his face to try to catch a glimpse of the stranger, eyes darting briefly to Wanda before calling out, "You all right there?"

The stranger, which Wanda now realized was a woman, continued to move slowly towards them. They soon saw that she was very pregnant. She wore several layers and her face was wrapped so that only her eyes, a vivid blue, were visible. She stopped short at the sight of Pietro and seemed to almost unconsciously take a step back. After a half second though, she relaxed again, and turned a look with more warmth to Wanda. "Please, I'm trying to get-" her sentence was interrupted by a groan and she clutched her stomach. "Trying to get up Wundagore. Can you help me?" Wanda moved forward to take the woman's arm.
"It's a long way up," she said softly, "And it's cold. Are you sure you wouldn't rather just go back down? It looks like there's a camp and-"
The woman cut her off, "No. I must get to Wundagore. They're expecting me." She doubled over in pain again and Wanda stood there looking frightened and uncertain.

Pietro brow creased with consern, looking to his sister and the nearby camp, and then to the woman with conflict. "...I could run," he mumbled, directing his offer towards Wanda, looking back up the moutain with an uncertain expression. They couldn't leave her, but Wanda needed to get warm, they didn't have time to double all the way back up. But running ran the risk of attracting unwanted attention, or possibly frightening the woman away for good.

"I'd rather not be alone, and she doesn't exactly look light," Wanda murmured in an undertone so the woman wouldn't hear her over the wind. "I don't mind going back up. I'll manage."

Pietro nodded, a touch reluctantly, rubbing his hands to together and blowingon them, offering the woman a smile. "You'll be okay, Miss, we'll get you there, you just tell us if there's anything we can do, all right? My name's Pietro."

"And I'm Wanda," she introduced herself and the woman nodded gratefully as she and Wanda began a slow plod back up the slope.
"My name is Magda Lehnsherr," the woman told them. She kept a watch on Pietro out of the corner of her eyes, almost suspiciously.

Pietro returned look, finding the small glimspes he could catch of her face oddly familiar, brow furrowed lightly in confusion, but it was a good distraction from the cold.

Arms crossed to perserve body heat he trudged along side the two women, keeping a wary eye out. "What you doing out in this sort of weather anyway? You're in no condition. You must not be from here, everyone knows the winters here are bad."

"I'm...escaping from someone," Magda answered hesitantly, and panted with her pain. "And I want to have my child on Wundagore."

"Someone try to hurt you?" Pietro asked with consern, wincing with the pain evident in her breathing, and ducking his head to meet her eye, "Is there anything I might do to help you with the pain?" he asked, gently laying a hand on her shoulder in what he hoped was a comfting manner.

"We'll get you there, I promise, and we won't let any one do you any harm, will we Wanda?" He offered a smile, but fingertips brushed along his collar, and he wondered faintly if it he was still bound by it. If somewhere, someone was waiting with controller in hand to stop him in his tracks.

The woman shied a little from his touch and leaned more heavily on Wanda. "No, not...yet. But I was frightened." Magda laughed at Pietro's concern, "Unless you can get this child out there really isn't much that can be done for the pain. It's nothing I haven't been through before. I had a daughter, once." She paused and Wanda spoke up to end the sad silence.
"Who exactly are you running from?" She asked quietly.
Magda did not answer immediately and when she did it was with a guarded tone and another suspicious look towards Pietro. "My...husband."
"Oh." Wanda was not sure what else she could say to that and so fell silent. She also had been wondering about her collar, but doing her best not to think of her powers or get too panicked. Panicking would not help the situation at all.

"What did he do to frighten you so?"" he pressed, gritting his teeth against the cold and shaking the snow from his silvery hair, "If it's not to personal."

"You're very brave," he offered, "I'd be far too afraid to do this on my own."

"He...became a monster. It was as though I never really knew him." Magda offered no more explanation and the rest of the trek up Wundagore was made in silence broken only by the woman's pained groans.

Wanda continued without complaint though she was shivering and could no longer feel her feet or fingers. When the journey finally ended she was relieved to pick up and drop the iron knocker on the large metal doors set into the mountain side at the trail's end. After a few moments the door opened a few feet and a cloaked and hooded figure peered out at them.

"We've brought Magda Lehnsherr," Wanda said quietly, squinting into the shadows beyond the doorway to try to see the figure more clearly. Magda ambled into the doorway and when Wanda made to follow the figure stepped in her way. It was a female voice that issued from beneath the hood, telling them they could not enter. The figure regarded them for a few seconds longer and instructed them to wait. Wanda was more than a little irritated but did as she was told and when the stranger returned it was with two heavy cloaks and boots which were presented to Wanda and Pietro. Wanda mumbled a thank you and asked, with slight petulance, if they would be allowed to come and check on Magda later. The stranger seemed to consider this before nodding and then closing the door in their faces.

"Well..." Wanda glanced at Pietro before pulling on the boots and wrapping herself in the cloak. "We can try the camp I guess?"

"Don't think she liked me," Pietro muttered, hoping on one foot as he struggled to pull on his boots, "I'm likable, aren't I? Is it a pregnant thing?" He offered a small smile, wrapping the cloak round his shoulders with a grateful sigh, moving to pull Wanda's closer around her. "Yes, back to the camp, maybe we'll send you in first," he teased, "People like you. Think it's the hair?"

"Yes of course you're likable," she answered distractedly, glancing back at the doors. "I wouldn't know if it's a pregnant thing, having never been pregnant. I suppose it could just be hormones or something. I'm sure she was grateful, regardless." She smiled and shrugged. "Perhaps, I guess I do fit in a bit more around here. What I still want to know is how we got here. Anyway, do you want to run us down or shall we walk?"

"Don't look a gift horse in the mouth Wanda," Pietro said with a grin, "I don't much care how we got here, where we are, or anything, so long as we're not in that place any more. We can worry about that when we're safe and warm."

"I'll carry you," he said, gesturing for her to climb on his back, "We've been out long enough."

Wanda did as he said and hauled herself onto his back. She was glad for her cloak and glad at the prospect of being out of the cold soon. She just hoped whoever was in the camp down there would treat them kindly. Though she was grateful for the winter wear shelter in Wundagore would have been somewhat preferable.

He ran them down, going slower then he might of had the weather been nicer, eyes on a sharp look out for danger.

He stopped short of the camp, setting Wanda down and fixing her with a hard look. "You wait here. I'm going to go make sure it's safe," he said, giving her a look that said not to cross him, he was serious for once.

He approached the fires, keeping his movements slow and non threatening, and raising his hands when a voice called out. "Hello? I'm sorry to bother you. My sister and I...we're stranded out here, and I need to warm her up. I was hoping we might be able to stay with you...We don't have anything to barter with, but if there is any way I can be of service I would not hestitate," he pledge, holding still as a group of gypies approached, a suspcious look in their eye.

They spoke in hushed voices and it was some time before Pietro returned to Wanda, a small smile on his face. "We can stay, come on," he said, wrapping an arm round her shoulders.

Wanda went with him into the camp, a cautious smile on her face. Some of them stared at her warily and others returned her smile. A man made a motion for them to sit near a fire and Wanda did so and muttered her thanks when a bowl of some hot soup was placed in her hands. She ate slowly, looking around her in interest.

Despite his worry, Pietro felt a certain warmth, a certain safety here. It was very much like the camps he remembered from his childhood. Before America, before the schools. It felt like home.

He nudged Wanda in the ribs playfully as the camp began to return to normal, a scruffy haired man starting up a song, and with a laugh Pietro pulled Wanda to her feet to join the others in dancing. "We're free Wanda, we should be celebrating," he said with a wide grin.
