A/N: "Bagenders" belongs to Lady Alyssa and Random Dent/Flatmate, whoever they are. They abandoned this series ages ago and many have taken up the torch after them but it was never quite the same. All who loved the Bagenders have their own ideas about the way it would have gone if they had written more. This spin off is definitely not what they would have done. I hope you enjoy it anyway.
If you never read the Original I highly recommend it. The original site is more or less in the toilet but I managed to scrape them together and archive them here.
If you don't feel like prerequisite reading or you have read the original but have lost all memory of it due to binge drinking, binge binging, or binge bowling (pins to the head good for amnesia I hear), here's a brief, and possibly inaccurate synopsis: The Fellowship were granted eternal life as a reward for saving Middle Earth (except for Boromir since he died before they did most of the really heroic stuff, but he comes to visit now and then). So it's just them and the elves (who already live forever so it wasn't much of a reward for Legolas, bloody Valar) and the rest of us oblivious humans. They've gone their separate ways at times but they always end up back together, and for the better part of the last decade they were sharing a cramped flat in the North of England working blue collar jobs, getting arrested, committed, hit by buses, avoiding ex's and in-laws, and getting drunk at Elrond's karaoke parties. Aragorn and Arwen split up ages ago but she keeps in touch just enough to keep Aragorn bitchy. Legolas has been pushing a refreshment trolly on the train and swatting away fawning girls while maintaining a fragile grip on his elfish dignity. Merry and Pippin have employed themselves as people who get fired from jobs, Frodo is mentally unstable, and Sam takes care of Frodo and the garden. Gandalf is a drunken old codger, and Gimli works nights to avoid the rest of them. Not too long ago, while digging through Pippin's extensive collection of pornography, Legolas discovered some rather old and bawdy doodles penned by none other than Leonardo "Arse Grabber" DaVinci which he sold for a tidy profit. He used this windfall to buy the fellowship a new, spacious home with a relaxing room all to himself with a little motorized waterfall on the desk and some of those nice bamboo drawings on the walls. Aside from the odd existential crisis and the occasional fireball in the kitchen, their lives seemed destined to settle down a bit after that....

By "bring-your-own-subtext" I mean here that if it was anyone else, it'd be slash; but Frodo and Sam share that intensity of love canonically, and in canon... well, there's room for doubt and taste. And by "canon fic" I mean it's fic based squarely on canon occurrences, merely elabourating on what happened and could have happened.
Hobbits. They break my heart. <3

A few days ago, I watched LOTR for the very first time.
...Yes, the movie was released around six years ago. Yes, I just watched it last week. YES, forchristssakes, I've been living under a rock all my life.
Moving on, I decided to throw myself into the Aragorn/Legolas fandom - which, admittedly, I only shipped for incredibly shallow reasons until I read some fics that actually justified the pairing - and compiled a list of Aragorn/Legolas fics that I've read and liked. And if anyone's still interested in the fandom, I'm sharing them below. :D
So. Without further ado, here's my personal list of noteworthy Aragorn/Legolas recs:

Given the situation over at LiveJournal, we need to be extra cautious about scenes that look as though they depict underage characters engaged in sexual relations. The visual stuff is stricter than the written, and photographs of underage models engaged in sexual or sexualized behavior absolutely are not allowed. Despite the fact that that is utterly hypocritical (look at any number of underage pop stars, past and present, including Britney Spears), it's still a statute with which we must comply. So, for example, I believe that I cannot allow photo-manips depicting a pre-LOTR Elijah Wood in a sexual situation, no matter how yummy he and Aragorn may look in your crossover. I will also defend to the death manga and yaoi depicting (for example) Merry/Pippin or Legolas/Gimli, as long as the images do not look pre-pubescent.
If you find something on this community that you think is indecent, please report it to me immediately. I shall deal with it as soon as the ether permits.
Here are some examples of things that are acceptable when depicting children in art:
A chaste kiss between an adult and a child, even on the mouth. (That is a cultural and personal matter, and since I'm an uptight WASP/Catholic raised in a family that kissed children that way, I deem it totally acceptable.)
An adult bathing a child. (Please keep it chaste, since the U.S. has [really stupid] laws in some places about nude baby photos, including those of 'Baby's First Bath'.)
Hugging a child, whether the hugger is a child or an adult.
Caring for a sick or injured child.
What's not acceptable:
Explicit sex with an obviously pre-pubescent child.
Open-mouthed kissing between a child and an adult.
Photographs of children that could be interpreted as sexual. (That's the law, last I knew. Way too broad and vague, but the law.)
Abuse or brutalization of a child.
What's controversial, but which I shall accept and defend until I'm told to do otherwise:
Two pubescent, clothed minors in a passionate kiss.
I welcome (read: I CRAVE) suggestions, thoughts, etc. on any of this. I've lost a fair bit of sleep over LJ lately, and I want to make this work as best I can within the law and the TOS on this host. Please do let me know what you think.
